"They're endless," Serena gasped, her voice laced with exhaustion, as she found herself backed into a corner, hemmed in by an unrelenting wave of humanoid adversaries.
Her hands trembled from both exertion and numbness, the weight of her situation bearing down on her.
She sought shelter behind a wall, bullets ricocheting off the surface as the humanoids continued their onslaught.
Max, hiding behind Drake, shouted to be heard over the din of battle, concern etched on his face. "Are you okay?!"
Amidst the chaotic fray, Drake swung his sword with precision, a symphony of steel meeting steel.
Yet, something niggled at his awareness, a gnawing suspicion that the situation was far from straightforward.
"Something's off," Drake mused aloud.
"What do you mean?" Ben grunted, his colossal gauntlet-clad fist colliding with another humanoid down, its metallic form crumbling under the impact.
