Igram was already at the mansion in minutes, and he handsomely paid the driver to wait for him as he ran into the mansion and grabbed Pickford's passports. 

But first, he needed to draw attention away from him, and that was only possible if the authorities had the real Pickford. He got out of the realm portions and began chanting for the key to open the realm he had hidden the real Pickford. 

Usually, the victims were disoriented when he got them out, giving him plenty of time to flee by the time they recovered.

He began chanting the spell, which, like the shapeshifting spell, ended up choking him. He coughed out loudly in shock. "No, no, no," he stumbled over his words.

He tried again but got the same result. He tried opening a different realm, somewhere far from the mansion, but again he got the same choking results. He couldn't shapeshift out and neither could he jump realms or free the real Pickford.
