A Vampire System

My MC Draig is back in another start struck adventure. After many requests on the reboot I have decided to bring back the original with a few minor differences. Draig is a troubled youth chosen to receive a class, thinking it was his moment of glory he was distraught to find out he had received a Vampire Class. Now as the city turns against him how will he carry himself, will he become a Monster like the people think or will he rise above it and become their greatest protector. Alas it is hard to tell with a heritage like his, so come along and enjoy the adventure that inspired my contracted novel System of a Vampire.

Zarra's Anger

"Oh hey, you back fast. Guess you picked an easy one, smart move. One should never bite off more than they can chew." started Zarra showing a bit of his silly side but Draig cut him off.

"I didn't get a quest" grunted Draig anger clear on his face.

"What do you mean you didn't get a quest" asked Zarra as his goofy side disappeared behind a serious gaze.

"They tried to block me from entering when I first arrived but I forced my way in but when I got to the desk and presented my License the woman behind the desk confiscated it and threatened to call the guards." stated Draig clenching his fist as his claws pierced his palms.

"Come with me" stated Zarra as he summoned a crow and sent it out baring a message.

Zarra called for a Magical carriage causing Draig to sigh which made the mage turn his head towards him.

"They don't service my kind" muttered Draig causing Zarra to raise his brows high, though it couldn't be seen.

A magical carriage stopped and looked like he had won the Lottery himself.

"Greetings Lord Zarra, please tell me where you would like to go" smiled the Driver until he looked at the side and saw Draig. It was in fact the same Driver from before and seeing him accompanied by Zarra causing a rock to settle over his stomach.

"Get out of my sight, I don't give patronage to your kind" spat Zarra as he turned and walked away leaving the Driver stock still at the words.

He knew who Zarra was and he knew who Draig was but for the life of him he didn't know the relationship between the two.

"You were right to come to me" stated Zarra suddenly causing Draig to look at him oddly.

"It's not like I could go to anyone else let alone act on these things myself, the city already hates me and causing a huge ruckus at the Work Station would only be a death sentence. It's just these people are so stupid, I am human just like them but the difference is I have a Vampire system" stated Draig kicking a rock on the side of the street.

'If only that was the case' thought Zarra as he looked to a row of graves on a mountainside just outside the Districts.

"Humanity isn't the brightest when it comes to accepting new things, hell when I was your age there were people wanting me to be banned and kicked from the city because of my class. After all, no one wants to associate with a Dark Mage" chuckled Zarra thinking back to those days he was a delinquent child but he hadn't been endowed with naturally high stats like Draig, having to work his way from the bottom with his two companions by his side.

Draig looked at Zarra skeptically, he found it hard to believe that the person at the top of the pecking order in this district was once a pariah like him.

"Believe it if you want but I am not going to lie about it" chuckled Zarra as they made their way to the doorsteps of the Work Station, Zarra saw that one of the Guards at the entrance had bandage's wrapped around his jaw and cast a sidelong glance at Draig.

"Forced your way in huh" commented Zarra causing Draig to cast a spiteful glance at the Guard.

"I didn't lie" stated Draig as they walked by the Guard who looked at Zarra in shock and even more so seeing the youth at his side.

'Shit' thought the Guard fearing the worst for his position.

However contrary to his expectation's Zarra hadn't wasted a breath on him and simply walked by with Draig in tow but as soon as he broke the threshold of the building a pressure began to build alerting those inside to a disturbance but upon seeing the Dark mage none wished to come near. Draig pointed out the clerk who had confiscated his license causing the mage to nod and make his way over, with every step the atmosphere seemed to get heavier. This was his way of letting it be known he was displeased with something and to remind everyone who was truly at the top.

"Draig go first and let us see what she has to say" commanded Zarra as he stood just at the side.

"I would like my license back" stated Draig sitting in front of the woman once again causing her to sneer.

"I have already warned you what would happen, your kind will not be welcomed among the righteous people here doing their best to ensure our safety" started the Woman which was Zarra's queue to show himself to this civilian woman.

"Says who" asked Zarra as he appeared at Draig's side causing the woman to become gobsmacked as she looked towards Draig in surprise.

She hadn't cared for Draig's earlier comment but now she realized why she would regret the way she had acted before.

"L-Lord Zarra, I, I was only doing as I was told" panicked the woman rapidly.

"Who told you to refuse my disciple" stated Zarra causing the woman's already pale tone to go lighter than before.

'Disciple' thought the woman fearing for her well being.

"The Guild Masters, they had people from their Guild's come and deliver orders on their behalf" stated the Woman as she watched Zarra fall silent.

"Lord Zarra, I would have never agreed if I had known he was your disciple" started the woman causing Zarra to laugh.

"What does it matter if he is my disciple, is he not a chosen? Did he not come here with a License, a Soloer is still one of the Defenders of this city even if he has no association with a Guild. Tell me if I had come here and presented you with this" stated Zarra as he placed his own license down on the counter causing the woman to once again gape in shock as she read familiar words on the piece of plastic.

"Would you have confiscated it" demanded Zarra finishing his words.

The woman didn't know how to answer without being put out to dry.

"Where is the boy's license, give it to me" commanded Zarra seeing as the woman wasn't going to respond.

"I don't have it....." muttered the woman as a noticeable bead of sweat began to trail down her face.

"Where is it then" asked Zarra narrowing his gaze as he heard the heavy steps of the men he had known were the cause from the start.

"I destroyed it....." squeaked the woman but upon seeing the Guild leaders walking up she thought maybe she would have a chance to save her neck.

"Lord Zarra, what is it you have called us here for" asked the large master of the Heaven's Fist Guild.

"Thomas, tell me why is it you have tried to forbid my disciple from taking on quests" asked Zarra focusing the pressure in the room on these men.

"D-Disciple, Lord Zarra what do you mean" asked Thomas his large frame showing the signs of nervous sweating.

The other Masters were not much better as they realized they had bit the bullet with their meddling, they hadn't expected after a month of silence from the Vampire that he would actually end up being Zarra's disciple. They looked towards the pale youth and cursed at his fortune, he had managed to get the best backing he could find in this district and had done so right under their noses.

"I mean, this woman here has told me of your little message and I wish to know on what grounds you think any of you can forbid someone who is chosen from taking on quests. That is something that falls into my jurisdiction, in other words my voice is the only one that can speak on such matters. Now I ask again, why have you meddled here" asked Zarra though his staff had begun to bounce excitedly like it was expecting a great show.

"Lord, it wasn't our intention to stop your disciple...." started Thomas but the last bit of his answer fell silent causing Zarra to become angry but unlike Zarra the man's words didn't escape Draig.

'Didn't want to allow a monster to grow' thought Draig as he let his head sink down.

Zarra was about to let his anger rain down on these men but Draig's laughter stopped it.

"Lord Zarra, I thank you for your teaching's over the past few weeks and I ask that you allow me to continue coming to you in case I find trouble in developing my class further but I ask that you not put on such a show for my sake. I simply wish to be able to carry out quests like you weak bodied humans, in that sense I merely wish to have my License redistributed and I will handle the rest on my own" stated Draig chuckling as he stood straight and the delinquent like persona seemed to melt away a bit though the roguish look in his eyes remained.

'If they want a Vampire then I will give them a Vampire' thought Draig while Zarra felt his blood run cold at that last sentence.

"I see, regardless I can't allow things like this to continue. If I hear of you meddling in the affairs of the Workstation again then I will strip you of your licenses and thus your position. Also it would be in your best interest to resist meddling in the boy's business in the future, am I clear" asked Zarra as he focused his anger on the group before him causing them to call out their agreement to his demands.

"You go and fetch me a new Soloer license for the boy, in the meantime feel free to select a quest while I sort out a few things" stated Zarra causing Draig to walk to the counter where he collected a few low level quests and exiting the building.
