Wolf Hunt Task Part-1

East Path of the Gruesome Forest

Chase and Ava walked along a worn and partially destroyed dirt path, engrossed in conversation.

"Look at this," Chase said, holding the wooden task plank in front of Ava's face.

Ava glanced at the wooden task plank, expecting something extraordinary to happen, but nothing did.

"Look at what?" Ava crossed her arms, waiting for an explanation.

"Just wait," Chase replied, infusing his war power energy into the wooden plank.

Suddenly, blue transparent words appeared in midair, resembling a system interface.

-Task: Wolf Hunt-

-Task Level: E-

-Info: Kill twenty wolves and collect their nails or fangs-

-Wolves Killed: 0/20-

"Is this real?" Ava gasped, taken aback by what she was witnessing.

"Yeah, that's what I thought too," Chase responded.

"Have you ever seen or heard of anything like this before?" Ava asked, struggling to make sense of the situation.

"No, but this kind of thing definitely belongs to the guilds," Chase remarked, from hearing how powerful the guild this is something there should have.

'But the task interface seems similar to the system,' Chase thought, contemplating the possible connection.

Chase clenched the wooden plank tightly in his hand, veins popping on his hand and forehead as he exerted strength, but the wood remained unyielding.

"This wood is incredibly strong," Chase exclaimed in disbelief. "It seems impossible to destroy, at least for now."

Ava quickly and forcefully grabbed the wooden plank from Chase's hand.

"What were you thinking?" Ava shouted at Chase in anger"What if you broke it"

Chase quickly realized the consequences of breaking the plank, as they would likely be unable to complete the task or return it.

"Sorry, I didn't think about that," Chase said, embarrassed and scratching his head.

Ava calmed down, her shoulders relaxing.

"Well, at least it didn't happen," Ava said, shifting her thoughts from worry to reassurance. "Now, let's focus on how to find and kill the wolves."

"Do you have a plan?" Chase asked, scanning the surroundings of the forest.

"I do," Ava replied. "You know wolves can smell blood from miles away."

"Yeah," Chase responded, uncertain of where Ava was going with this.

"Well, with the scent of blood, we can lure them here," Ava explained, displaying her intelligence.

"Alright, that's a good plan," Chase acknowledged. "But where are we getting the blood?"

Ava unsheathed her axe and brought it close to her hand, but Chase quickly grabbed her hand and pulled it away.

"What are you doing?" Chase asked, his gaze intense. "Let me do it."

Chase took Ava's axe and sliced his palm.

"Now what?" Chase asked Ava quickly, not wanting to bleed too much.

Ava pointed along the dirt path.

"Drop the blood along the path," Ava instructed. "Then we wait."

Chase began walking along the path, dropping his blood onto the ground from his sliced hand.

Once all of Chase's blood had been dropped onto the path, Chase and Ava hid among the branches of a nearby tree, waiting for the wolves to arrive.

While perched on the tree branch, Ava noticed Chase clenching his bloodied hand, a slight pain etched on his face.

Ava quickly tore the bottom of her top, grabbed Chase's hand, and started wrapping it.

"Thank you," Chase said gratefully.

Chase and Ava spent the next ten minutes waiting for the wolves until they finally heard rustling in the bushes.

"Get ready," Chase said, retrieving his spear from his back and ignoring the pain in his hand. "They're coming."

The wolves emerged from the forest, a pack of five grey wolves, sniffing the air for the scent of Chase's blood. Fortunately, the trail of blood on the dirt path was stronger than the scent from Chase's hand.

- Grey Wolf -

- Beast Rank: Lesser -

- Level: 4

- HP: 200

- Strength: 24

- Agility: 29

- Physique: 15

- Skills: Bite, Claw

All the wolves approached the spot where Chase had dropped his blood.

"Let's do this," Ava said, her gaze narrowing as she focused on the wolves.

Chase and Ava tensed their muscles, tightened their grips on their weapons, and prepared for action.

While the wolves were engrossed in sniffing the ground, Chase and Ava swiftly ran up behind one wolf and skillfully launched controlled strikes against one wolf, quickly killing it before the other wolves turned around.

Another wolf lunged at Ava, but she managed to dodge its attack by bending backward. As the wolf soared over her, Ava swung her axe, slicing the wolf's underbelly. The wolf landed, its guts spilling out, before succumbing to death.

Ava stood up, noticing another wolf already dashing toward her. She evaded the wolf's charge to the left and threw her axe, striking it in the neck and side belly.

"Got you," Ava exclaimed, excited by her success.

Meanwhile, Chase had a wolf rushing at him. He flicked the pommel of his spear, sending the wolf's mouth off-balance and causing it to crash onto the ground. Chase swiftly moved forward and stomped on the wolf's throat, ending its life with a distinct crack.

"Let's do this," Chase thought, amazed by his own capabilities.

As Chase turned around, another wolf was already approaching. In a split-second decision, Chase switched to a defensive stance, aiming his spear at the wolf and stabbing it through the skull, ending its life.

"Come on!" Chase exclaimed angrily, struggling to pull his spear out of the wolf's body, all while noticing another wolf closing in.

Realizing he had to leave his spear in the dead wolf's body, Chase quickly shifted his focus to the approaching wolf. As the wolf lunged at him, Chase grabbed its upper and lower jaws, engaging in a fierce struggle to hold back the wolf's powerful bite. The wolf's jaws were dangerously close to Chase's sliced hand, causing it to bleed from his previous injury.

"Ahh!" Chase cried out in pain, his hand throbbing.

Suddenly, an unknown surge of energy and focus coursed through Chase's body. He mustered all his strength and easily pushed the wolf away, forcefully snapping its jaws open and throwing the dead wide-mouth grey wolf aside.

"Wow," Ava exclaimed in shock, witnessing Chase's display of strength. "You're really strong."

"I don't know how," Chase replied, still in awe, as he examined his hand. "I felt a surge of energy enterted my body."

"Well, that's a good sign," Ava said, relieved and grateful for Chase's feeling stronger.

Chase approached the dead wolf with his spear still lodged inside, placing one foot on the lifeless body as he forcefully pulled his spear free.

"Yeah, now let's collect the nails and fangs," Chase declared, flicking his spear to remove the grey wolf's red blood onto the dirt path before proceeding.

Chase and Ava spent the next couple of minutes taking out the grey wolf's nails and fangs.

"Let's go," Ava said, tilting her head in the direction they needed to follow, further up the dirt path, when they started walking Chase didn't notice multiple wisps of grey energy flew out of the dead gray wolves and into the wooden task plank.

Chase and Ava continued their journey down the dirt path, their eyes scanning the surrounding forest with vigilance.

Thx for reading, I completely messed up my plans I had for Ava's future story, by having her hunt wolves, so I had to somewhat change my plans for now, in the next chapter you will kind of understand why.
