She stiffed immediately, at first she moved her eyes sideways without moving her head, and when she did not see anything she slowly turned. Scanning the place with her eyes, she walked a little further, but then she felt something run past behind her again, and she turned in one Swift movement. Her grip on her staff tighten as she took a step forward, and she halted when she felt something behind her. she looked sideways without moving her body, and she only saw a black fur of an animal. but something was off.. the aura the animal emmited was scary, normal wild animal shouldn't give off such aura, and her eyes widened in realization when a thought dropped on her mind.
Spirit beast??
but She.. she doesn't do magic, she's not powerful, so why.. then her eyes widen
her wound!
they could detect by sniffing blood, that is how they get their prey..
she breath in and out repeatedly to calm her raving nerves, but it didn't work. when she felt it walking she immediately turned, and the sight which welcomed her almost made her scream, but she controlled herself.
A big black beast.. No Spirit beast..
it had long canine and his shadow grey balls gazed intently at his prey, like he was processing how he would kill and feed on her. Subconsciously she took a step back, and the beast took one forward.
'Is this how I will die?? what about thana? Lydia? I won't find them?' She though of how misrable she was, and a tear dropped from her face landing on the handle of the staff she gripped tight. The low growl of the beast pulled her from her thoughts. his upper and lower incisors gritted together, and his brows knot together and his shadow gray balls gazed at her with full hatred. She took another step backwards, and the beast took another forward, and a loud groan escaped it mouth, like it was in pain.
She smelt danger..
Her grip on the staff tightened like she was asking it to save her, and in the next moment her eyes widened in horror and she immediately closed her eyes, raising her hands to shield herself from the approaching attack.
The beast launched at her, and it pounced her tearing her face apart as it devoured her.
"Arrrrhhh!!!" Ava screamed and opened her eyes, panting really hard as she sat up. beads of sweat ran from her face down to her jaw. She touched all over her face to see if her face was actually torn by the beast hand to her relief it wasn't. "haa.." She sighed out in relief. Her eyes widened, when she gazed up at the sky.
It already dark.
with the help of her staff she was on her feet. She removed one leg of her shoe then walked to the stream and dipped her feet into the water, it was so cool that she felt like having a bath.
When last did she have a proper bathe? She thought then she put on her shoe. Taking one more look at the place she turned and continued her journey.
Ava has walked a long distance, and her legs are beginning to ache her, so she sat near a tree, after confirming it was safe.
She has been more than cautious since she woke up.
That dream must be a warning, and she won't take it slightly. she thought as she sipped her water. She suddenly felt uneasy.. and two things crossed her mind.
Lydia ans thana.
She panicked and immediately stood up, she kept her water bottle in her bag and picked up her staff thus she moved on. She didn't even know where she is going to. she just have to leave this Forest, but every path she took brought her to another path, and that was how it went. "I just wish I have magic." and for the first time, she felt useless without magic. She disguises herself to take strolls round the fortress and she often hear people gossips about her saying she's not a royal blood, she's cursed and all sorts of things. She rembered once when she had disguised herself to take a stroll when she heard a woman gossiping about the her to the other woman with her.
"Princess Ava is cursed." the woman said to the other woman, who nodded her head in response. "Why do you think her mother died right after giving birth to her? and she doesn't have magic, which royal blood don't have magic?" the woman scoffed. Ava who happened to be passing by and heard what the woman said stopped and approached them. " Good day ma'm." She smiled. "Good day young miss." the woman returned her greetings. " Am new in the fortress, and I've heard a lot of people talk I'll about the princess, and as I was passing by, I overhead you saying she's cursed. is it true?" Ava asked politely. "yes it is.." the woman replied. " Why do you say so?". Ava asked as though she was curious. "Well the Queen died right after she was given birth to,and on the day of her delivery there was a furious rain which destroyed most of our houses, and thunder roared so loudly that no one could leave their home through out that day." The woman said with hatred vivid in her eyes. "uhm..she sure is cursed." Ava nodded in agreement. "thanks for the enlightenment.." Ava thanked the woman then left.
She chuckled at the memory. as she kept walking. she remembered that night when she got home she had wanted to ask her father lots of questions. she has been meaning to ask him, but she did t have the courage to do so, but with what she heard today, she really wanted to know what happened. so she went to her father's room, but he wasn't there. "where could he be?" She wondered and turned, but then she sighted Zolan from afar, and she ran to him. "Zolan, do you know where father is?" She asked. "He left with some officials, they had to be somewhere."He replied. Ava's face turned soar, she hasn't seen him for a while week, all because he's busy, and now he's still busy. she turned and headed back to her room with a gloomy face. The next day she was in her room through out the day, in the evening she was still in her room, she was going through some old books she got from Zolan when she suddenly felt uneasy, and immediately she heard sounds of beating drums. her eyes widened and she ran to the window, she saw soldiers assembling and in the next moment she heard a loud charge from another group of solders as they ran inside the castle and just like that a war broke out, and that was the last time she saw her father. She pushed aside the memory, she must be focused so she would get out of this place. she walked further for a couple of minutes but she halted when she heard footsteps. her heart raced, and she remembered the experience she had that caused her and Lydia to split. she looked around for a place to hide, but she saw none and the footsteps were getting closer left with no option, she left the path running into the bushes and she laid as lowly as she could. her leg ached her. but she just have to endure the pain till those people pass. she was about heaving out a sigh of relief when the pain in her kneel reduced, but she held her breath, and her eyes were wild opened.
There was a snake before her..
