The Truth

Once mom and the Luna get in the car we make the fifteen minute drive to the bakery. As we pull up I link Edith to close the bakery as soon as the last person is served. Ten minutes later she links me that she is ready for us. We all get out of the car and go inside. Edith meets us at the door. She locks it and flips the sign. Then we sit down at one of the tables. A minute later Ellen comes out of the back with a tray of tea and soda. I get up and help her to pass things out then we get started. I notice Edith looking closely at the Luna then she starts talking.

"Arya is it really you? Why are you here? We have not heard from you in ten years. Where is your mate?"

"I'm sorry Edith I know leaving you with Ashley was wrong but he was my mate. I couldn't see past that. I was selfish and wrong, but I'm back now and I'm hoping to get to know my sister again."

As we listen to them talk I watch Ellen, I watch the frown grow on her face and I link mom so she watches to. I get up and stand next to her before aunt Edith really rips into the Luna. I'm sure she was pissed because she started shaking. And I know she forgot everyone else was in the room when she started yelling.

"Look you selfish brat you can't know your sister better because she is dead. If you would have answered my letters you would have know that she and her husband died in a car accident two years ago. Why are you even here?"

"My mate was challenged and lost so now I don't have a home. I came to see if Ashley could help me out."

"Figures, you were a selfish spoiled brat as a child and nothing has changed. When things don't go your way that's when you remember you had family. Well I'm not helping you this time. If the Alpha wants to help then more power to him but I won't do it."

"I understand Edith, thank you for your time. I will go now. Good day"

With that she gets up and walks out the door. Edith follows her to the door and locks it again. Then she turns around and her eyes land on my mate. As she rushes over to us I move back from my mate. Edith grabs her and hugs her. Then she brings her over to the chair Arya just left. I sit on her left side while mom is on her right side, then Edith starts talking again.

"Honey I'm so sorry, I never would have let her in if I knew it would be like that. What are your question I know you have some."

"Who is she? Why didn't anyone ever tell me about her. What was she talking about?"

"I am sorry to say that that selfish women is your aunt Arya. She is your mother's sister. You know your grandmother died when your mother was a young girl. Well I was friends with her and I raised them both. When your aunt was sixteen she took off we didn't hear or see her for a long time. She only ever called when she wanted money. Then when you had just turned seven I got a call from her out of the Blue to say she had found her mate. That was the last time we heard from her until today. It broke your mom's heart when she left. She didn't even say good bye. When we lost your parents I sent a note to her and when I got no response I tried calling. I left a message but never heard from her till today. That women is so self centered I want to strangle her."

" I noticed she didn't even look at me, did she not know about me?"

"No sweety she was informed. Your mother sent out not only her wedding announcement but your birth announcement as well. You are not important until you can do something for her."

"I don't understand how could mom help her? What did you mean when you said the Alpha can help?"

"As you know your parents had some money and the house. Your aunt would try to get as much of it from her as possible. As for the last part that's what she called the leader of her little group. And as for mate it's an old-fashioned term for husband."

"I don't understand how she could think mom would drop everything for her and possibly give her our house."

"I told you honey she is a self centered women who can't be trusted. When you go home later don't let her in the house. you know it was your mom's childhood home so she will try. Once she is in she will never leave and you don't need that."

"Okay, I don't think I would let her in anyway there is something not right about her. I don't know what it was but I felt something strange. You know that feeling you get when you know the person is wrong in a creepy way. That's what I get from her."

As the three of them exchange a quick glance Mathew links his beta and elite guard to watch Arya and her pack because something is not right. Then there is a knock at the door. Edith turns around and starts laughing. Tim is standing at the door with a now empty box in his hand. She let's him in and says," My dear girl I need candy, do you have any left? All my friends ate it."

We all start laughing and I go to the kitchen. While I am cutting and boxing the last of the candy they have a quick conversation.

"Alpha she is meeting with her people right now. The guard have the house surrounded and are watching it."

"Thank you. Now how much of her feelings do you trust Aunt?"

"She has never been wrong so far. Look you need to know her mother was a human trained as a witch. girls showed signs of abilities so they were trained by their mom. She was shunned by her coven for falling for a human. The girls were adopted so they know nothing of their heritage. As far as I can tell Ellen has small abilities. She can heal small things and she feels things about people. She has stopped three robberies with these feeling so I trust her. She also told me something was wrong with her parents a half hour before we got the call about the accident. She doesn't know what any of this means. I wanted to get Ellen tested by the pack doctors but after we lost her parents it didn't seem important. But with Arya coming around I think we need to know. Her birthday is soon so maybe after that."

"When is her birthday? Do you have any plans?"

"Actually Mathew we do now. Your Christmas party is the same day as her birthday. She will be twenty on Sunday. I don't know what will happen but it might be a good thing she is close to her mate that day."

"Okay so it is now a birthday/Christmas party I can work with that."

"Oh no fair that means she will get more gifts than the rest of us."

"But she is bringing you candy Tim. That should even things up."

"Okay you have a point there. I can work with that."

They all stop talking as I walk out of the kitchen with a large box in my hands.

"Now Tim this is all the candy I have left today. So no more sharing. And I will make sure to set you up a box just for you on Sunday. Is there any flavors you like most?"

Tim jumps up and down and claps like a child then comes over and hugs me as he takes the box from me. He opens it with shining eyes and grabs one of the truffles. As he bites into it he lets out a moan of pure bliss and everyone starts laughing. The stress of the situation is gone and we go on with our day.
