On Dick's suggestion, they visited a few other public hotels, but had no luck. No one had seen a man with a limp or, if they had, they were unwilling to talk. Ira and Dick retraced their steps back to the other end of town, and then began walking back towards Lambton Quay. Keeping a watchful eye open for anyone limping or hobbling, Ira had to remind Dick to look at men, as he was apt to leer at passing women.
