Ch-9

The dozen and more dead spirits were now facing towards me as they sensed that I could see them.

They started walking towards me and Giaia but didn't even glanced at heard their entire focus was one me. I didn't knew what to do and wanted to run away but at the same time I didn't wanted to leave Giaia alone. I coiled around Giaia and flared up my hood in a threatening manner.

This greatly confused her but she didn't made any move and just placed her head on my body.

The spirits stopped at 5 meters away from as as if they couldn't pass an invisible barriers. This is probably due to my strong aura and even in ancient legends snakes were worshipped as protectors.

"Release us liberated one"

One spirit who didn't had any legs and was crawling on the ground spoke. But it didn't spoke with words but thought and I could understand them.

"Release us from thy suffering", spoke another. " Thou exalted one, show thee mercy".

These spirits wanted me to help them break free from their suffering as they didn't wanted to wander around as sports but move on through the great cycle of reincarnation.

Due to dying a sudden and violent death their souls couldn't put aside their grievances and pass on.

"What's thy request", I spoke inside my mind but with my focus towards the wandering spirits hoping I could communicate telepathically just like they could. It worked as one spirit replied.

"Our bodies weren't creameated forming an anchor with our souls and thus preventing us to passing on, Destroy thy bones liberated one."

In ancient indian texts its instructed that after a person passes away, the body must be cremeated and the ashes scattered to destroy all attachments of The soul with the material plane and allowing them to reincarnate.

Since normal creatures can't see the spiritual plane which prevent any wandering spirit from asking for help.

The beings that can see beyond The material plane like me are called liberated because we have broken the illusion or you could say I cognitive abilities have evolved allowing us the perceive the true world and not only the one which our eyes could perceive.

It seems like tge bodies of these spirits haven't been fully destroyed and since they died a violent death it became even more difficult for them to move on.

I left Giaia and tge spirits guided me deep inside the river where their remains had sunken, All I saw were mangled skeletons out of which many appearing to have missing limbs. I opened my mouth and swallowed all the broken skeletons since they would be eventually dissolved.

Just a week later the spirits disappeard after their skeletons were fully digeated.

Life went on an usual until I decided to try talking mentally with Giaia, it failed as it seems like my abilities are just too weak right now and Giaia hasn't developed much spiritually as all she does is hunt, forage and sleep just like me.

[ 20 Years Layer ]

With decades gone by without any issue or mishap I had reached a length of 17.3 meters and a width which allowed me to swallow a fully grown brown bear. My scales have shifted color and are now a mix of black and yellow with orange patterns. My mane has reached a length of 4.7 meters and is now bright red in color and when in sunlight it appears as if im on fire, my scales are also becoming nore reflective and glimmer like jewels during the day.

Two peculiar things that have also happened one of which is that on my forehead there seems to be a glowing scale which appears like a jewel or gem and softly glows in a light- bluish hue making it extremely noticible as none of my other scales even comes close to its beauty as it even glows during night as if its bio luminescent.

My mane has also reached the top of my head and I can now raise it like a crest just like a cockatrice would raise its head feathers. My teeth are no like delicate and now somewhat resembles a boar's tusks but are more slimmer.

I don't think that i'm just a king cobra but it seems like im transforrong into something much greater. Whenever I go out hunting all I need to do is just stare at my prey and the moment my prey looks into my eyes its stops moving as if hypnotized. Just like some octopuses and scuffle fish use thei ability to change skim to hypnotize their prey I could do that just by staring at them. My eyes are like amber and also glow like jewels but don't even come close to the scale on my forehead, their ability to hypnotize is something that I discovered by accident as a few years back while hunting I found a deer who was injured and couldn't run properly but the movement it gzaed into to my eyes it stopped all movement. When these incidents happened a few more times that's when I realised my new ability and the good thing is that it only activates when I want it to activate.

After all this i'm 85 years old and won't be dying due to old age anytime soon. My metabolism is slowing down consideredably as now I only need to eat once every 5 years.

I left My lair to sun bathe and poked my head out of the river that's when I saw Giaia talking with 5 other goliaths and It didn't seemed like they were her friends.
