Which was fine by Gideon, because they were leaving the next day anyway, and Jesse needed all the time practicing that he could get.

Her head rested against the arm, her knees bent, feet flat on the cushion. “You don’t have to stay in here and watch me, you know,” she said. “I know you’d rather be doing almost anything else.”
