Don't Learn from Beth

Maverick was somewhat self-abusing. A gloomy voice said to him, "Let's her go and stay away from you."

Everly's lips moved, but she did not say anything. Everly turned to leave the room without a word.

Watching Everly's back disappear behind the door, Maverick subconsciously took a step to catch up with her, unable to control his instinct.

The door was closed.

The sound of the door closing was as if a signal. Maverick stopped in his tracks. His dim shadow was thrown onto the ground. It was as if mocking his cowardice.

Maverick never felt that he was not a perfect person. He always tried his best to make everything perfect. For so many years, he did not disappoint himself, nor did he let Kailey down.

But thinking of the scene last night when he watched Kailey being buried, Maverick felt that he seemed to have become the helpless boy from back then.

Maverick let out a low groan of pain.

He bent down and hugged his head as if he was trying to suppress the pain.
