The next day, when An Qi walked into the company and was waiting for the elevator, almost everyone was talking about Wu Linzhi's extraordinary behavior the night before. Other than thinking that it was his attempt to gain attention, most people thought that Wu Linzhi had just been joking. Several female fans, who had wavy curls, were even claiming that they were planning on straightening their hair in order to meet his girlfriend criteria.
When she was waiting for the elevator, An Qi was worrying about her old classmate's future as a celebrity idol. Without the presence of Auntie Sun and Shi Zhiwen, the entire fourth floor was empty.
Among the Leng Group's many partners, Hairui was definitely not among the top-notch ones. But, although Auntie Sun's treatment in the Leng Group could not be compared to the staff of this department, she had still been treated much better when compared with how other companies treated their employees.
However, An Qi had no time to think about that at the moment. It was clear to her that no one had been here for several days. Due to this, Hairui's inventory system was in a state of complete disarray. As Gu Xiaonan was technically the person in charge of Hairui among the Leng Group employees, she had clearly not fulfilled all of her duties.
An Qi's fingers rapped furiously on the keyboard, even though she knew that Leng Yuchen would help her with Hairui's matters, she dared not use her special privilege to ask him.
At noon, An Qi rubbed her tired eyes and stretched out her exhausted limbs. At that moment, her cell phone rang. An Qi glanced down at her phone to see who was calling, and as she did so, her mouth could not help but curl up into a smile.
"Manman! I thought that you'd lost your way and never managed to leave Heart Lake Villa that day!" An Qi joked as she answered the phone.
"Hmph! You're joking because I haven't called and disturbed you these past few days, right?" Dong Manman instantly knew what An Qi was implicating with her words.
It was no wonder that An Qi would tease her. According to Dong Manman's gossipy personality, even if she had been shocked by Leng Yuchen, who came out to greet her that day, she would have usually still called An Qi to talk about it all the following day.
An Qi thought… Perhaps the only thing that can make me forget the gossips is work… A lot of work!
An Qi smiled at this thought, then rolled her eyes and asked over the phone, 'So, tell me... What do you want?'
"Oh, it's nothing. Actually, I wanted to know… Are you free tonight? I just met the famous dream lover Leng. He's worried about your shoulders. He wants to see you again before officially taking the photos," Dong Manman replied.
"What? I thought that you were going to treat me to dinner, just us, only to find that I was deeply mistaken! Moreover… Why do I feel like you are becoming more and more like a servant to the famous dream lover?" An Qi quickly saved the files that she was working on, then laughed at Dong Manman, while she went to look for some food.
"I don't care. It is a critical period for my career, and getting on good terms with the dream lover is the equivalent of getting my foot in the door to the Paris' fashion industry. So, it's critical that you won't stand me up tonight!" Dong Manman said.
"Okay. Don't worry. I'll be there. Are we still meeting at Strolling Through Tokyo?" An Qi asked.
"Maybe not. After all, that fellow Wu Linzhi has just exposed such a piece of juicy news about his life that he can barely go out in public anymore." Dong Manman sighed on the other end of the phone. It sounded as if she was really sorry for what had happened with Wu Linzhi.
"Don't forget to inform me once you have made a reservation. I'm going to get lunch now, as all of the delicious food in the cafeteria's going to be snatched up if I get there too late!" An Qi said.
As Dong Manman hung up the phone, she shook her head and thought about An Qi's insatiable appetite… Alas, even though our old classmate is facing such a big problem, that glutton is still as gluttonous as ever!
An Qi had been highly efficient this morning, and as she walked toward the cafeteria, her spirit felt light and merry. What she didn't know, however, was that there was an unknown shadow that had been following her all this time...
"What? There's no more left?" In the staff cafeteria, An Qi had just arrived and realized that all of the dishes had already been snatched up!
An Qi's pupils constricted instantly. She couldn't believe that she'd just taken a call, which had made her late. Now, all of the dishes had vanished!
"Are you new here?" the cafeteria lady glanced at An Qi and asked her.
"Yeah... Are there leftovers for newcomers?" An Qi's eyes shone with hope as she asked.
The auntie laughed, then said, "Well… Not many employees come right at mealtimes. To tell you the truth, most people usually come half an hour early."
Rumble.
After listening to the the cafeteria lady's words, not only was An Qi dissatisfied, but even her stomach began to protest the lack of dishes available. At this moment, An Qi remembered Auntie Sun's kindness in the past. When Auntie Sun was there, An Qi never went hungry!
Her thoughts then immeidiately turned to Shi Zhiwen. She wondered how he was doing as well. As An Qi was thinking about the pair, unbeknownst to her, the dark shadow suddenly flashed out and patted An Qi on the top of her head!
The action was adept, exactly the same as it had been in the past. An Qi was stunned. Her entire body felt as if it had just been electrocuted, rendering her unable to move.
Yu Hao! The familiar and yet unfamiliar name exploded in her heart.
"Qiqi, what a coincidence! We meet again!" Yu Hao tried to greet An Qi with a smile, but the girl opposite him was obviously not the same person that he was familiar with.
After she got over her initial shock, An Qi's face showed a touch of disgust. Then, it was Yu Hao's turn to be stunned. In his memory, An Qi and he had never officially broken up.
As he remembered it, everything just seemed to happen spontaneously. Therefore, without having experienced the violent conflict that normally accompanies most breakups, Yu Hao had always felt that, if they were to meet again, he could still be friends with An Qi. But, it had never occurred to him that An Qi's mood would be so obviously disdainful toward him when they had did come face to face.
"What's wrong? Are you not happy to see me?" Yu Hao asked, his face revealing his discontent.
An Qi raised her eyebrow and said, "We broke up so long ago. Do you think that I'd actually be happy to see you again?"
"Who says we can't be friends after breaking up, An Qi? Are you really that petty of a person?" he exclaimed.
"Sorry. I guess you're right. I am being a petty person. Do you have anything else to say? If not, please step aside!" An Qi didn't know where that cheating f*ckboy had gotten his courage from, as he was standing in front of her and clearly not even feeling an ounce of guilt!
And… He even dared to say that they could still be friends, even after breaking up! An Qi rolled her eyes and thought… What a joke! That's just an excuse for f*ckboys and f*ckgirls, who've never thought of a long-lasting relationship, to keep each other as friends... With benefits!
But, anyone who ever truly loved their significant other would never think such things! And, yes, that was right… umm…. An Qi had to admit to herself that she really had loved Yu Hao in the past.
But, An Qi would also love any random cat or dog if she had spent enough time with it! As she thought about such things, An Qi felt like she almost needed to give her apologies to all cats and dogs for comparing them with Yu Hao!
An Qi, rolled her eyes, while she pushed Yu Hao aside and was about to leave. This crazy situation had caused the cafeteria lady to be so stunned that she'd even forgotten to put down her ladle.
"Wait!" Yu Hao had apparently not expected that An Qi would push him aside, and he scrambled to prevent her from leaving yet.
He had planned to find An Qi and take her to a sweet and romantic restaurant, then listen to how sad she had been these past few years. He then imagined how she would have thrown herself into his arms, while crying bitterly. He could then console her and save the day… A real hero!
However, things had changed so fast that Yu Hao could not respond quick enough to reach out and stop her. He could only attempt one last effort to stop her by shouting shamelessly.
An Qi ignored him and continued walking forward, so he yelled even louder, "An Qi, stop right there!"
