River went to room 5 and knocked on the door. The door opened, and Otta gasped a little.
"Come in, I will get medicine." She quickly turned around and went to her bag. He strolled in and felt a heavy gaze on him.
He looked ahead and saw Sezia staring at him before turning back to her computer.
"Bad burn, huh?" She said, "Go put your head under the running water."
River nodded and went to the toilet that was on the left of the entrance.
Otta took out a small first aid kit and opened it. She took out a small bottle of medicine and a bandage.
"Use the non stick ones." Sezia instructed, "Don't pop the blisters."
"Alright." She switched the bandages she took out and closed the kit.
The door knocked again, causing Otta to put the things on top of the kit.
She opened the door, which showed Reginald and Kinsei awkwardly standing there.
"We saw River came here. Is he alright?" Kinsei asked, turning his head to the sound of water, "He's cooling off his burn?"
"His life isn't in danger, and yes." Otta replied to the two questions at once, "I'm not even going to question what you guys did.." She added before walking back into the room, leaving the door open for them.
The two awkwardly walked in and saw River in the toilet cooling his head. Literally.
"Sorry about what happened.." Reginald apologised as River turned off the tap.
"No worries." River walked past them as they stood there.
"That didn't feel like he forgiven us.." Kinsei whispered to Reginald.
Reginald shrugged, expressing his confusion, too.
Otta helped River apply the medicine cream and wrap his head.
"Follow the instructions of the medicine written, and that's all I know." Otta bluntly said, which caused the two standing there stunned.
River took the medicine and bandages, he read what was written, and nodded.
"Do you have spare medicine?" He asked, which Otta nodded.
"Carrying a spare is always important." She emphasised, which River countered with his own question.
"What if it gets expired? No matter how many you got, it's useless."
Otta thought of it and looked at Reginald standing there, "Hey! Burn him more!"
"That's not what I meant!" River quickly said, "If you burn me, I will burn you back!" He turned and pointed at Reginald, who burst out laughing, "It's not a joke!"
"The medication won't expire within a few years. It's fine." Reginald replied, "There's plenty of time."
"That doesn't sound convincing.." River smirked, "I will just have to burn you more!"
"If I see any more fire when we're in the motel, all of you will burn." Sezia glared at them, "Now shut up and go out." Fire was basically burning out of her eyes, as the three shrieked.
The three slowly moved their stiff legs out, and only when the door closed did they breathe a sigh of relief.
"Let's go exploring." Kinsei suggested, and the two agreed.
…
When Lux saw the police station not far away, she looked at the soil surrounding the building and remembered what Ignatius said.
'Am I really going to listen to him?' She thought, as she slowly squatted down, "Why dirt?"
She scooped a handful, thinking about eating them somehow, doesn't disgust her, like she was used to it.
'Right, since when did I even start smoking? Don't I hate the smell of cigarettes?' She came to a realisation. She turned her hand and only left a little dirt on her palm.
"Nord, get ready to capture." Sam instructed, taking out his own. He slowly stepped out of the car and pointed it not far away from Lux.
After eating the dirt, Lux's pupils shrunk.
She calmly stood back up, but Sam could feel something changed.
"What happened to One and Two?" She calmly asked. Through her clenched teeth, she asked, "Where's Five?"
"It was Five instructions to prevent you from going to Duerrin. You would've only gotten yourself killed." Sam's finger was on the trigger, getting ready to shoot anytime, "How much do you remember?"
"Curious?" Lux smirked, "Maybe you guys shouldn't have made me forget my fucking life!" She stomped, and the soil around her gathered by her feet, "We don't need you soldiers pity!"
Sam quickly shot his teaser, but the soil flew up and blocked it.
"Nord!" He called, and a teaser net shot out from the car.
Lux tried rolling away, only for the net to capture her feet, the spikes from it stabbed her right leg as she tried to move it away.
'She doesn't remember much.' He mentally sighed, "Stop putting an act. Lux, I know you've only remembered when the Zone collapsed."
"I might have only remembered when the Zone collapsed," Lux said, "But now I've realised this intense feeling in my heart. It's revenge, isn't it?" She faced the sky, "What happened to One and Two?"
Sam removed the net, and offered his hand again. Yet Lux once again got up herself, hitting the hand away.
"Two is no longer here." Sam announced, which caused Lux to trip and fell.
"Repeat that." She slowly got up again, her legs slowly bleeding out.
"Two died, Lux." Sam repeated, "This was part of her last wish, she doesn't want those affected to remember the horrors, and live peacefully."
"Is One alive? She should be taking this worst than everyone." Lux slowly limped towards the station, as Sam strolled behind her.
"One doesn't remember anything related to Zone G, but she slowly might now. Two's power is slowly losing its effect." Sam explained, looking down at the bloody footprint.
"If I remember everything, what will I become?" Lux suddenly asked, turning her head to look at Sam.
"You won't forget the past ten years, but the scars from the zone will become visible again." Sam answered, as Lux turned back.
A small soil wall shot up, separating Lux and Sam.
She stopped walking, and turned her whole body and faced him.
The prison standing behind her, while the city around him.
"Why would you guys help us?" She asked doubtfully, "After everything," Her voice became softer towards the end, "Guilt?"
Sam sighed and nodded, "I guess when they kidnapped Three I started feeling the guilt."
"If you didn't feel guilt, I assume you won't help us." Lux slowly turned around again, the soil wall hasn't fallen, "In the end, you guys just pity our sorry ass."
