Playing with fire

As the three boys left their room, they encountered Elda, who was walking to her own room.

Reginald knew he wasn't the only one who had heard that sound, so he turned and told the two, "Guys, I will catch up." He said and ran towards Elda, who was about to open her door.

"Wait!" He said, "Do we know each other?" He looked at Elda.

"No. I don't suppose we do." She placed both her hands in her pocket, "So what's up kid?"

"When we first saw each other, do you hear some kind of sound? Like a bell?" Reginald asked while he caught his breath.

"Well, being honest." She chuckled, "This stuff doesn't matter. We were just chosen, that's all."

"Chosen for what?" Reginald starred in anticipation, "Bringing peace between races?"

"That is the goal of the chosen one." She confirmed, "But how to achieve that said peace? We are given our own ways to achieve it."

"Huh?" His face turned disappointed, "Don't chosen ones gather to achieve the goal?"

Elda chuckled harder, "How can five people, from different walks of life. Work together?" Her hand slipped out of her hand and turned the door korb, "Everyone have a different idea of peace, what's your vision of peace?" She glanced at him, "How sure of you that it won't clash with your teammates?" She entered her room, leaving her question lingering in the air.

The door closed, leaving to Reginald stand outside dazed.

"Regg! You coming??" He heard River's voice and snapped out of it.

"Yeah!" He ran down the stairs, almost falling down the last few steps.

"Careful dude," Kinsei had his hands out, "We don't need a burden on our first quest."

"I agree." River crossed his arms and nodded.

Reginald held his finger out but clutched his fist while gritting his teeth. He suddenly smirked and replied, "Very well, I shall be a burden then."

He tripped at the last step, and Kinsei quickly tried catching him.

"Burden it is!" River pulled Kinsei away as Reginald fell face first on the ground.

"Dude!" Kinsei quickly ran forward, "You okay?" He grabbed Reginald's shoulder, only to quickly release it, "Ow!"

"Huh?" River went and poke Reginald, "Ow!" He felt a sharp pain on his finger, "Isn't your power fire?"

Reginald pushed his face off the ground, his nose bleeding, and he had tears in his eyes, "Isn't it?" He looked at them, "Help?"

They pulled him up while feeling pain in their hand as they pulled him up.

When he sat on the stap, they quickly let him go while shaking their hands.

"Hm.." Everyone got to thinking, trying to figure out what happened.

River had an idea, as he asked, "Reg! Is your face still pain?"

"No? Nooo?" He touched his face and could barely feel the pain.

"Your ankle isn't sprained right?" He asked as Reginald shook his head, "Let's try running!"

"Huh?" Both Reginald and Kinsei aren't catching the ball, as River smirked proudly.

"When your ankle was bitten, you were feeling stressed, and thus your body build up heat. I'm thinking, what if your power isn't fire, but releasing what your body experienced as elements?"

"Hmm…" Both of them weren't so convinced yet.

"Go run a round and see if it works!" River was determined to prove his theory.

Reginald nodded and ran around the motel, as he ran back, he was panting heavily.

"Try focusing like when you used your powers!" River quickly instructed, eager to see his theory tested out.

"O.. okay.." Reginald held his palm out and focused.

"W-wai-" Before Kinsei finished, a fire almost the size of Reginald shot out, "The motel!"

"Shit!" The other two panicked, as the nearby wood caught on fire, and the fire spread.

"Freeze yourself!" River exclaimed, while Kinsei was running around in a panic.

"We're gonna die!" Kinsei shouted, "Fire!"

Before the fire grew any bigger, someone jumped down and extinguished it with their feet, squatting down at the wooden railing. "Idiots." Sanosuke said, "It hasn't grown big enough, you can use your hand."

"Hey! We will get burned!" River argued, as Sanosuke closed his eyes while sighing.

"Would you rather your skin burn, hurt for a few days. Or possibly people dying and never coming back." He glared at River, who felt his soul being pierced by the blue-grey pair of eyes, it moved towards Reginald, "And you, think before acting." He stood straight up, and jumped down while walking back to the motel.

"That's right! Go bac-" Sanosuke turned sharply and glared at River, who closed his mouth, and turned around, walking back up, "Where you came from." He whispered at the end.

After making sure Sanosuke had entered his room, River clasped his hand.

"Let's try freezing you!" He said with a wide grin on his face, as Reginald felt sweat dripping down his head.

"What happened to exploring?" He asked, looking at Kinsei for help.

"We are gonna explore Reginald power." That help was gone, as Reginald suddenly pointed behind them

"What's that?!" They turned and heard loud footsteps, turned back, and saw Reginald running away towards the car park.

"Hey!" River shouted as Kinsei dashed towards him.

"Come back!" Kinsei laughed, "Ain't you curious too?"

"No!" Feeling the heat, he got an idea. He opened his palm and aimed at Kinsei.

"Woah hey!" A fire bullet shot out, and Kinsei quickly ducked, looking up and saw Reginald tripped and fell down.

River caught up while laughing, till he bent over holding his stomach, "What was that dude!" He wiped the drop of tear from his eyes and kept laughing.

"Wanna explore huh?" Reginald was already on his feet as he grabbed Kinsei's shoulder.

"Fuck!" He tried to get Reginald hand off, but felt hot in his hand, "My shoulder burning!"

"Woah! You can-." Reginald smirked at River who was walking nearer, and River quickly ran away.

"Don't you wanna experiment?!" Reginald called out, laughing deeply as he chased, "Come on! Just a touch!"

"Stop acting so gay!!" River shouted as he turned his head and saw Reginald preparing a fire bullet, "You!" The fire bullet shot, as River eyes widened, he quickly stopped in his tracks and expend his palm, causing the bullet to stop before hitting him.

"Oi! What the!" Now was Reginald turn to escape, as River controlled the fire to hover above his palm while chasing Reginald.

"Hey hey! Let's experiment!" River chuckled, as he saw Kinsei sitting at the side watching the show.

The two made eye contact.

"You fucker!" Kinsei quickly stood up and dodged the fire bullet, "I can't do shit!" He pointed at Reginald, "Chase him instead!"

Reginald saw River no longer chasing after him and stopped. 'The distance is too wide for a fire bullet.. unless!' Using his finger, he pointed at River, and focused at the tip. He released the flame and it shot out faster than before, shooting towards River.

River heard something but it was too late.

It hit his right eye, as he yelped while holding his eye.

"River!" The two quickly ran towards him.

"I'm sorry!" Reginald apologised, "Is your eyes okay?" Kinsei slowly unpeeled his hand and they saw the area above his eyes to be red and blisters starting to form.

"My eye is okay." River calmly stated, as he just turned around and walked back to the motel.

Kinsei and Reginald looked at each other unsure of what to do.
