CHAPTER TWO

Adeline sighed, he wasn't saying anything, she had expected that he would scold her or be angry but he was silent, this was not the first time she was caught sleeping off but this time she slept for six hours straight without waking up. That of course was enough to get her fired. 

Adeline followed him and then she noticed the two men who were also standing behind them. She guessed they were his bodyguards. 

"I'll take the other elevator" Adeline spoke as she looked at the elevator at the other side of the floor. They had two Elevators in the top floor, one was for the CEO While the other was for her and anyone who wanted to see the CEO. 

Adeline noticed that the man stilled in his movements, she watched as he walked inside the elevator, followed by his men, and then his gaze fell on her tiny form again. 

She stood there with herhands gripping her bag as she tried to avoid his gaze, she wanted to walk down to the other side so she could use the other elevator but his gaze was keeping her rooted to the ground. 

"Do you want an invitation?" 

Adeline swallowed the lump in her throat when she heard his voice, she knew that if she stood there for a minute longer then she would just be causing trouble for herself. 

Though hesitant, Adeline walked inside the elevator, now she was standing next to him with the two men behind them. Adeline couldn't help but feel a little compressed, though there was more than enough space in the elevator, she felt small in the presence of this three. Or maybe because he was standing next to her, Addeline tried her best not to make any noise as she focused her gaze on the elevator doors. 

Soon she heard the sound of the Elevator doors and she couldn't help but sigh in relief but then all of that was interrupted by the ringing of her phone. 

'buzzz buzz buzz' 

Adeline cursed as she reached her hand inside her back, she could feel his gaze on her as if he too was interested in knowing who it was that was calling her. 

Adeline sigehd when she saw the caller ID but she immediately ignored the call, she couldn't answer a call like this not when she was still with her boss. Adeline quickly walked out of the elevator, she was in a hurry to get to her car but she could still feel his presence behind her. Even though she tried to walk fast, it was easy for him to catch up.

They arrived at the parking lot and Selena saw that they were the only ones left in the building, her car was parked at the side while his was in front of the building with two other cars behind it. They all looked the same and she could only guess that the three cars were here to pick him up. 

Adeline was about to walk in the direction of her car but then she paused and turned to face him again, this time with her head slightly bent. 

"I'm really sorry for sleeping during working hours, I will accept whatever decision you make concerning my actions" Adeline spoke and then she waited for a while expecting a response from him but she got nothing. With a sigh she turned around and walked towards her car. 

She reached her hand into her bag and brought out her keys, she couldn't help the tears that were threatening to roll down her cheeks, she sighed as she pushed the tiny button and then the doors were unlocked. She got in and settled herself on the driver's seat. She closed her eyes as she let the tears roll down her cheeks, she had been holding them back for so long and now she was letting it all out. 

He stood there as he watched, his hands fixed in his pockets, he was curious to know what she was doing inside but the distance between them had not given him the opportunity to see. After watching for a while he forced himself to look away as he walked towards his car, he got in and settled himself in the back seat. 

"Where to Mr Wayne?" The driver asked as the doors closed shut behind him. 

He was silent for a while with his gaze fixed outside the window of his car, he watched and waited. He wondered what she was still doing inside her car, it had been five minutes since she got in and still she was not moving yet. Just as he was about to go out and approach her, he heard the sound of engine whirling and then he saw her car drive out of the parking lot. He finally relaxed himself in the driver's seat as he glanced at his driver but it seemed that the man already had his eyes fixed on him. 

"Villa" Was all he said before he closed his eyes. His mind was still swirling with a lot of thoughts and no matter how much he tried he couldn't push it behind him, he couldn't push her behind him.
