Chapter 118 Don't be Noisy
"Mom, are you okay?" Oliver Queen rushed in, positioning himself between Moira and Stephen, his eyes filled with anger. "What do you want?"
"He kidnapped Thea," Moira said, her words rushed.
Oliver Queen quickly made his way back to Star City. Initially, he had heard John Diggle mention that Thea had been taken into custody by the police, which provided some relief, thinking that Stephen wouldn't find her so easily. What is he doing at the police station? So, he decided to first ensure his mother's safety by returning to the company, but little did he know he was a step behind...
"You..."
"Prying comes with a price. Let's enjoy this slowly," Stephen said, casually flicking the coffee table with his fingers, the chuckle in his voice vanishing instantly.
"Be careful!" Oliver Queen abruptly pulled Moira and started running, but before Moira could comprehend what was happening, she heard a loud bang.
The coffee table exploded.
Glass shards flew in all directions, and in the process of shielding Moira, Oliver Queen was pierced by several shards.
"Oliver!" Moira heard his muffled voice and looked at him anxiously.
"I'm fine. I will rescue Thea, I promise!" Oliver Queen assured his mother solemnly.
Moira gazed at the shattered coffee table, Stephen was gone, and for a moment, she was at a loss for words.
"Huh!" A streak of red lightning raced past and stopped in front of Thea Queen.
It took a few seconds for Thea Queen to react. "Where have you been?"
"I sent the photo to your mother and Oliver and got an answer on the way," Stephen smiled.
"An answer?" Stephen remained silent but picked up the camera. Lately, he had developed a fondness for videography.
Seeing her worried mother, Thea Queen felt a tinge of self-blame and regret, but when Stephen posed the question and her mother provided the answer, Thea Queen was left stunned.
"This... Is this true?" She gazed up at Stephen, seeking confirmation, yet also afraid of the answer she might hear.
"Indeed."
"Why?"
Thea Queen suddenly screamed, hurling the camera in anger. "Why is this happening, why!"
Stephen picked up the camera without uttering a word, allowing Thea Queen to vent her anger.
After a long while, Thea Queen sat on the ground, having released her pent-up emotions. Tears streaked down her face, smearing her makeup, making her look pitiful.
"Why?" she whispered, lifting her head to gaze at the silent Stephen. "I want a drink."
Stephen reached out to her.
Thea Queen took Stephen's hand and found herself in a hotel room. All she could see was the red lightning flickering around the room, and then she noticed a plethora of wine bottles scattered on the floor.
Wine of various kinds piled up like a mountain.
"Is this enough?" Stephen appeared and asked.
Thea Queen remained silent, picking up a bottle of wine and started drinking.
People often turn to alcohol when they are sad. Perhaps they seek numbness or attempt to drown their sorrows in intoxication. Regardless, Thea Queen was now inebriated.
Get drunk very quickly.
After consuming three bottles of different wines in rapid succession, Thea Queen became intoxicated and lost consciousness.
She remained inebriated for an entire day, and when she finally woke up, she felt a throbbing headache, dizziness, and a dry mouth. Groaning in pain, she opened her eyes to assess her surroundings, only to discover herself lying on the ground, surrounded by dimness, with a vague sight of the mountain of wine bottles beside her.
"This..." She mumbled unconsciously, her voice hoarse.
Struggling to sit up and survey her surroundings, Thea Queen spotted Stephen, seemingly asleep on the bed, and the memories of her drunken state slowly resurfaced.
"He actually let me sleep on the ground like this!"
With a dissatisfied complaint, she exerted effort to stand up, staggering as she made her way to find the bathroom.
Click!
The lights switched on.
Soon, the sound of running water filled the room.
After more than half an hour, Thea Queen wrapped herself in a bath towel and, feeling somewhat sore, approached the bed, pushing Stephen silently.
"Hey, is there anything to eat?"
"Get up, do you have any food?"
Stephen groggily opened his eyes at the sight of Thea wrapped in a bath towel and muttered, "What's with the noise? Do you realize how late I fell asleep? You want to eat in the middle of the night? Can't you wait for breakfast?"
"What's next?" Thea Queen was taken aback. Did he mean noodles? "Can the hotel provide that?"
"Why not? Isn't that what hotels are for?" Stephen rolled over and replied.
"This is a hotel, not a restaurant." Thea Queen grew slightly annoyed. Clearly, he hadn't fully woken up yet.
She turned around to survey the room but found nothing except wine and drinking water. She consumed a bottle of water, feeling slightly better, before returning and lying down on the other side of the bed.
As soon as she lay down, Stephen reached out and pulled her into his embrace. Thea Queen attempted to break free several times, but her attempts were futile, and she eventually drifted off to sleep in a daze.
They slept soundly in each other's arms, but in Star City, many people stayed awake throughout the night.
Oliver Queen carefully examined the photos left by Stephen, trying to identify the location where Thea was kidnapped. However, he first noticed a chair atop a mountain behind his villa. That chair belonged to the police station. Did Stephen initially take Thea from the police station to his house and leave the chair there? Why? A demonstration? Provocation? Oliver Queen took a moment to search for the location in the photo but found nothing.
Not to mention Oliver Queen and Moira, the police station dispatched almost everyone to search for them.
The sudden police mobilization made the people of Star City uneasy. Gangsters, wealthy politicians, and ordinary citizens alike had a restless night's sleep.
Day and night passed with no clues.
The police decided to escalate the investigation, and Oliver Queen planned to seek assistance.
Huntress or the Birds of Prey squad!
Though Oliver Queen was aware of their existence before, he had not involved them in his affairs. However, this time, he had to do it for his sister.
"Oliver."
Just as Oliver Queen was about to leave, Moira, appearing fatigued, called out to him sternly. "We need to talk."
"Now?"
"Yes."
"Okay." Despite his anxiety, Oliver Queen turned around and went back. "What do you want to discuss?"
"Shouldn't we consider that it's not an ordinary person who kidnapped Thea? He mentioned that being nosy comes at a price, Oliver... don't you think you should explain?"
