CHAPTER 11: LISTENS

The rest of the night went smoothly with the trio having their focus on the plans they had made . What had happened earlier completely disappearing from the minds . After bidding Maya farewell, carl and isabella headed for their house where ava took note of her mum's presence in the house since that light inside the house was turned on.

The door was locked from the inside so isabella took out her key pushing it inside the lock before pushing the door open.

ava greeted "evening mum"

"we are back" said carl who took off his shoes and placed it aside. The woman cane out from the kitchen before walking to hug both her children. She smiled at them then asked " did you two have fun?'

Carl nodded while isabella responded "better than I thought it would be " She gave her mum another hug before walking past the woman,she heard her mum say to carl "go freshen up ,I'm sure you must be full since you definitely ate something "

"I did" carl nodded and replied in a soft tone,his mum then said "alright darling it's late you must be tired go now"the woman watched her son run up the stairs staring at his back.

"how was your day?"the woman asked her daughter who turned to stare at her before settling on the couch "better than I expected"she replied remembering the two people she met ,though different both had gotten on her nerves .

"I'm guessing that's your way of saying you didn't encounter any troubles today hmm? her mum walked closer to seat beside her where Isabella turned to face her mum "I didn't..." she the. paused as if in deep thought.

.Her mum who noticed the deep drown on her face asked "are you alright?".

Shaking her head Isabella took the woman's hand in his when she said "I want you to be here when I get older when Carl gets older,it's my way if saying you are important in our lives?".

"I know" the woman replied knowing what Isabella meant with her words"things will get better "

"it will " Isabella nodded,she still had hope that wasn't to be crushed yet "you'll be here "she smiled and while the two people talked

At the top of the stairs behind a pillar Carl stood there listening to their conversation,he hadn't changed his clothes and the earlier brightness that filled his eyes earlier that night had disappeared where his expression was unreadable but on a closer look there was sadness in his eyes.

He stood there with no plans to leave while he listens to their conversation,he heard his mum say"...I've always been proud of you Isa " the woman reached for the side of her head.As if remembering something she said "it's late Carl's already asleep you should get some too".

Isabella nodded,her eyes followed her mum who went to the kitchen. Going up the stairs she paused when her eyes fell on a small shadow on the ground before it settled on her brother who stared back at her.

While the night continued to fall on grounds of the city with people already in their beds,at the Weston's mansion in one of the many rooms, sounds of a glass shatter filled the room and outside of it that slightly echoed across the hallway. Inside the room stood Lucas with a blank expression as he watched his father angrily threw the glass vase on the floor.

Lucas's eyes moved to the floor before he looked at his father who had an angry expression on his face.

His father Richard Weston said "who do you think would taking over the family business then it not you,and now you are trying to refuse?"he demanded from his son who didn't seem fazed by his father's anger.

"I didn't say that father,I just need more time besides I still have long time ahead of him, there's no need to rush" Lucas said calmly, earlier that night he had gone out to have some alone time and had done a little shopping. After spending sometime outside the mansion he had come home only to be summoned by his father in the study room

At the same time the door to the study room was pushed open and came in Lucas's mum there was a slight frown on her face while she stared the glass pieces on the floor,a worried look settled in and she looked between the two men in the room.

She sighed and then asked " what is going on here?" the question was for either of the men to answer and she stepped in while closing the door behind her. She had been brushing her hair earlier when the loud sound startled her. Before either of them could reply she turned to look at Lucas and asked him directly "did you do anything to annoy your father?"

"he's refusing to take over the company" his father was the one to reply,he had walked to sit behind his desk and he leaned against the chair.

"I just said I wasn't ready yet" came Lucas calm response " it's not like I don't have an idea on how to run the company"his eyes narrowed at the end.

Aurora sighed,she didn't want a splitting headache while dealing with this two "honey if Lucas feels he isn't ready yet then you shouldn't force him and there's still time"she tried to reason with her husband who replied with "then I suggest he starts learning now one day I won't be here to assist him and he'll have to leaned to take charge of things"

"like I don't know how to do it"Lucas murmured under his breath which none of the two people caught . His father had been pestering him to take charge of the company as soon as possible given he already knows the company and how to run it.
