There was a long pause, and then he said, “Could we give it another chance? Would you give me another chance?”
She gazed at him pensively. “I’d be risking a lot.”
“I know.” He smiled slightly, brushing an errant strand of her blonde hair off her cheek. “We both would.”
Reni chuckled softly. “You’d be destroying your macho gay image, because I won’t have anything to dowith you as more than a friend, if you’re still not willing to admit we are. More than friends that is.”
“I can do that.”
“Can you?”
“Yes,” he replied quietly. “If you’ll let me.”
“I—I’m willing to see what happens.” She leaned in, kissing him gently. “That’s all you get. For now.”
“It’s a start.”
