Introduction

No one in the room was prepared for Miya's response, not even Chris and Jackson, and as silence settled in their midst, everyone had different emotions on their faces.

Suddenly Steven's heartbeat began to increased and his mouth opened, but no words came out.

Then he took a long stared at Miya and angrily said, "You are the lady that Chris brought to Jackson's hospital room that day. When did you two hook up?"

The anger raging through Miya suddenly ceased, and panic had her in its grip as she nervously stared at Jackson and thought, 'Why did I say that?'

Then she bowed her head and her nails dug into her palm when she felt them staring at her.

Feeling completely betrayed by his best friend, Steven looked at Jackson with sadness in his eyes, and coldly asked, "Were you cheating on Jennie with her before the accident?"

Although Jackson had already answered Steven's question in his head, his body didn't know how to react, and he froze to a point where he was hardly breathing as he stared at Miya while wondering why she said those words so boldly.

"Jackson, Steven just asked you a question! Are you not going to answer him?" Jennie shouted while holding in her tears.

When she stared at the way her husband's eyes focus on Miya, her heartache only seemed to intensify, and she felt the muscles of her heart tighten with an agonizing force.

At that moment, the loud cry of babies echoed from upstairs, snapping Jackson and Miya out of their heads and back to reality.

"I will get them." Both of them said together.

Then Miya let out a nervous and faint laugh before she turned around and fled from the living room.

"I should help her. There are three of them." Jackson mumbled without making eye contact with no one. Then he hurried out of the room and headed upstairs.

"Am I invisible?" Steven mumbled while sadly staring at Julie.

She then softly smiled, gently squeezed his hand, and said, "No, babe. You are not. I am sure there's a reasonable explanation for all of this. I once had a brief interaction with Miya at the hospital, and I have this feeling that she's not that kind of person."

Unable to control her emotions, Jennie buried her face in her hand and wept bitterly.

"What are you doing?" Miya aggressively asked when she saw Jackson entering the room.

"To help you with them," Jackson mumbled as he approached her.

After giving him another uneasy glance, Miya turned her back to Jackson and picked up Milo from the bed.

"I am not carrying my kids down there, so they and I can be judged by your family. I didn't ask for this and neither did they!" She mumbled while patting her son on his back.

"You were the one who made the announcement, so when this became my fault? If you know that you weren't ready to accept me as their father, then why did you tell everyone that I am?" Jackson said while struggling to sound not annoyed even though he was.

For a second, Miya stood still as her words deserted her and her face became blank. Then she scratched her hair and said, "Well, if your so-called wife didn't attack me maybe I wouldn't have replied in such a manner."

"Right, it's my fault. So what now? I can tell them to leave if you aren't ready for your kids to meet my judgmental family." Jackson said with a hint of annoyance in his tone.

A frown settled on Miya's face as she scowled at Jackson and asked, "Why are you making my words sound awful?"

After using a second to calm his anger, Jackson sighed and replied, "Look Miya, I know that you are scared, and I get that. But what I am never going to do is allow these kids to grow up without their mother's involvement in their life. Now I am begging you to do the same with me."

For a while, everyone in the living room waited patiently without talking to each other. Then the sound of footsteps coming from the staircase drew their attention to the living room entrance.

"I am sorry for taking off like that," Jackson said as he walked into the living room while holding Mila in his hands.

At that moment, tears slowly trailed down Rose's face when she stared at the baby. Then with trembling hands, she reached into her wallet and took out a picture that she cherishes with her life.

"Oh my… That's your daughter. She looks so much like you when you were a baby." Rose cried as she stood from the couch.

"Mom, not my naked baby picture," Jackson mumbled with a smile on his lips.

At that moment, Miya walked in, carrying Milu and Milo in her arms and Rose's face immediately brightened up.

"Oh my God… There are three of little you. They are so perfect. I have three grandkids. I never thought I was going to say these words when talking about you. Oh, my beautiful grandbabies." Rose happily cried while taking Mila from Jackson's hand.

There were a lot of things Miya expected when she thought about introducing the kids to Jackson's family, but Rose's reaction wasn't one of them.

The love she saw in Rose's eyes as she stared at baby Mila brought Miya to tears. She then handed Milo over to Rose when she reached for him.

"Thank you." Rose softly said while adorably staring at Milu.

When Chris and Miya's eyes met, he finally broke his silence and said, "I am sorry. I know that I should have not kept the truth from you when Jackson's and your husband's sperm got swiped. To be honest, Jackson wanted to tell you the truth the moment he found out, but I convinced him not to. Sorry again."

"You knew?" Steven asked, feeling a sense of anger growing in him.

"Before anyone did."

"It's been months! So you two kept this information to yourself. Jackson, I thought we were brothers, and Chris, I guessed we are not that close than I thought we were."

A look of guilt crossed Jackson's face as he sighed and said, "I am sorry, bro. But…"

However, Steven cut him out, and happily intoned, "How could you guys be so evil to hide the fact that I am an uncle from me for that long!"

Then he brightly smiled at Miya and lively said, "I am sorry for my behavior just now. Maybe I should have asked before making assumptions. Can you forgive me?"

While slightly nodding her head, Miya awkwardly smiled and nervously thought, 'I wasn't expecting any of this. This feels so strange. Maybe it's because I haven't experienced something like before and I am used to being the one who takes the blame."

Suddenly the living room grew silent when Jennie lifted her head, wiped her face, stared at Jackson, and asked, "Can we talk?"

"Sure," Jackson replied.

Then when his eyes met with Miya's gaze, he faintly smiled at her before she hastily look the other way.

As Jackson and Jennie walked out of the living room, Miya felt a tightness in her chest. Then she gently cleared her throat, faintly laughed, and thought, "What is wrong with me? Why am I feeling this way?"
