*GUINEVERE*
'What do you mean Mate?' I ask Sabrina, my heart pounding in my chest. I can feel the panic attack starting to kick in, as I try to even out my breathing. No, our mate can't be here. I don't want a fucking mate, especially not one from this pack. I want to leave this miserable pack and never look back. I feel tears start to stream down my face, I never wanted a mate, I just wanted the freedom to be someone new.
I try to sneak out of the office, in hope's that no one has spotted me. I need to regroup and come up with a different strategy to leave the pack, whoever my fated mate was, had to live in the pack house, their scent was everywhere, I couldn't risk being caught by them. I'm almost out the door when a firm hand grabs my shoulders, turning me to face them.
"Shit." I mumble under my breath.
I am brought face to face, well more like face to chest, with the most gorgeous man I have ever laid my eyes on. He has mesmerizing blue eyes, his hair a sandy blond shade was pulled up into a bun on the top of his head, I could picture myself running my hands through his hair in the throws of passion. My gaze fell down to his lips, they were plum, I wonder would it be like to kiss him. And to feel his lips against my flesh. My eyes continue to wander his body, admiring how well he fills out his white dress shirt, how strong his arms look, I want to be wrapped up in them. I could feel the goosebumps crawling all over my skin, I'd never felt this attracted to someone before.
The stranger is giving me an odd look. I grimaced inwardly. I hope he isn't one of those special ability wolves that I had heard of, the ones that can read peoples thoughts. My face flushed red at the thought of him reading my thoughts.
"Darling, what's your name." The handsome stranger asked, his voice deep and husky.
"Umm hi. Sorry, I'm Guinevere. I have a meeting with Alpha Damien today."
"You? You're Guinevere" The handsome stranger asked, looking extremely confused. .
I twiddled my thumbs feeling extremely nervous, "Yup" I said make the P pop.
The handsome stranger, let out a throaty chuckle, "you've got to be fucking kidding. The Moon Goddess really does have a warped since of humor".
I was puzzled, and I could feel my temper rising, Why was he laughing and why was he bringing the moon goddess into it.
'Oh Gwen, you really are naive.' Sabrina finally spoke up. 'How can you not sense it. This man is the Alpha and he is our mate' Sabrina said quietly.
No. no way. this can't be. This has to be some kind of sick twisted joke.
*DAMIEN*
I smelled her as soon as the door opened. I knew my mate was here. What she was doing in my office I didn't know. I wasn't excepting anyone today, expect the daughter of the filthy traitor. She had beautiful brown hair that cascade down the small of her back, and gorgeous chocolate brown eyes, that you could lose your soul in. Her lips full and luscious. I wanted nothing more than to grab her by her waist and pull her against me, kissing her until she was breathless.
As soon as she walked through the door, she turned around, planning on leaving. I instantly ran across the room and grabbed her shoulder spinning her her around to face me. Shit. She'd been crying. I could feel Leo's anger rising. Whoever had upset her would feel my wrath.
"Darling what's your name?" I ask her.
The woman looks up at me, she has an embarrassed look on her face and her cheeks are flushing red.
""Umm hi. Sorry, I'm Guinevere. I have a meeting with Alpha Damien today."
Guinevere.. Guinevere. Where had I heard that name before. Shit that's right, Guinevere McKay. She was the traitor's daughter. Maybe the rumors about me were correct. Maybe the moon goddess really did hate me. If she loved me surely she wouldn't have matched me with the offspring of my father's enemy. I knew as soon as she said her name that I'd have to reject her. It was the right thing to do. But for the first time in my life, I didn't want to do the right thing. I wanted to be selfish. I wanted to give Guinevere everything her heart desired.
"you've got to be fucking kidding, I laughed, finding the entire situation hilariously wrong, The Moon Goddess really does have a warped since of humor".
"umm excuse me?" Guinevere asked, her confusion clear on her face.
I recovered quickly, deciding to ignore my sudden outburst and her question, maybe she didn't know we were mates yet.
"Ah Guinevere, yes. We have a meeting today, to discuss your placement. If you'd like to wait here, my fellow officers as well as my father will be arriving shortly and then we will go over your request." I responded, and then quickly turned away and walked out the door, my hands shaking with anger.
'What are you doing you idiot," Leo hollers."Our mate is in there. Get back in there and claim her as yours. Do it quickly before the others try and get rid of her.'
'Shut up Leo' I growled at my wolf, 'it's not that simple.'
'Yes it is. She is our mate. She was made for us. The moon goddess doesn't make mistakes.' Leo whined.
Before I could respond back to Leo, my father, Sam, and his former Beta Brad, along with Brad's son, my current Beta and best friend Alex, walked up to me. "Guinevere is in my office waiting for us." I tell them.
"Are you still planning on sending her to the full moon pack?" Delta Alex inquired.
Hearing his question, brought a dull ache to my heart. Even knowing that I'd have to reject Guinevere eventually, I didn't want to get rid of her. I didn't want to be away from her ever.
"No," I said to everyone's surprise. "I have a different plan for her." I started walking towards my office, expecting my men to follow.
'I sure hope you know what your doing, Son.' My father mind linked me.
'I know what I'm doing Dad. I am the Alpha now. You'll have to trust in my decisions.' I responded back annoyed.
Guinevere was sitting at the end of the table when I walked in. I walked to the opposite side and sat down. My dad, Brad, and Alex filled in the remaining spots.
"Guinevere you had previously submitted a request to my father, asking to leave the Blue Moon pack once you turned 18. That request is denied." I spit out.
I saw Guinevere stiffen, her eyes filling with tears. I felt a sharp pain in my chest, knowing I had caused those tears. Leo growled inwardly, hating what I was going to say next.
"Instead you'll become a cleaning omega here in the pack house. You will have a small room in the basement of the pack house. You'll be expected to clean every inch of the house from top to bottom. And I want you to report to me directly each night when it is done. This is best I can offer a traitor's child." I spit out venomously.
"But Alpha Damien," Guinevere cried, tears falling from her face. "why should I have to live with the sins my father and mother made, I'm begging you, please let me start a new life away from here."
"No," I roared at her, my panic rising at the thought of her leaving. My Alpha aura rising, "You will listen to my command as I am your Alpha. Go back home gather your things. And meet me back here within the hour, once you're back I'll show you to your room."
Guinevere glared daggers at me as she stood up from the table and left the room.
'Alex' I mind linked my beta, 'follow Guinevere, make sure she doesn't try to leave pack lands. If she goes anywhere besides her old home and here. Notify me immediately.'
'Yes Alpha' Alex responds and he too gets up and leaves the room.
"Well that was a surprising turn of events Alpha Damien," former Delta Brad spoke, " I was worried when your father handed you over the pack at such a young age, especially without a Luna by your side. But I see now that my worry was for not. You didn't even need your father nor I here for your first decision."
"A traitor shouldn't be let off so easy," I respond, still thinking of the tears in Guinevere's eyes, I narrowed my eyes in anger, "They may have been her father and mother's crimes, but if I were to let their child roam freely, what would the other packs think of me? What would my pack think of me?"
"Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer." My father said clapping my back. " you're going to be a strong Alpha. Now hurry up and find yourself a Luna. The pack is getting nervous. You know that an unmated Alpha can be dangerous and make rash decisions. They can also make the pack look weak since there is no heir. Sometimes mates aren't worth waiting for "My father let out a heavy sigh and I knew he was talking about Rachel, Guinevere's mom.
