"Hi, am sorry I can't make it home," she said on her phone.
"I am picking you up, I know you hate driving in the rain," Steve said.
"No it's okay, Gabriel is sleeping soundly and it's already late so you rest too," she said.
"Did he say anything to you?" Steve asked.
Tatiana sighed, "No but I talked to his parents".
"You okay?"
"Am fine don't worry. I will be home by eight tomorrow so make breakfast" she said.
"I will be waiting, have a goodnight," Steve said.
"Have a goodnight you dear" she hang up her phone looking out the window. It was raining heavily now.
"He must treat you nicely for you to speak to him like that," Jack's voice said.
She turned to see him awake.
"Yes his nice and honest," she said walking to the chair in his room.
Jack pulled the covers over his son sitting up "But do you love him?" he asked.
Tatiana looked at him and smirked, "You must think highly of yourself to think am still in love with you, 'cause am wondering why you would ask me such a question".
"I just want to know," he said.
"You have no right to meddle in my business". She said.
He got up, "You can share the bed with Gabriel, I will sleep in one of the guestrooms," he said
She got up, "No, just get a maid to get me a free room, I will sleep there with my son. I can't sleep in the same bed you use," she said.
He looked down at her, "Do you hate me this much, Tatiana? We used to this bed together, probably where we made Gabriel in but you claim you can't sleep in it anymore"
"I despise you with all my heart that if it wasn't for my son and revenge I would not want to see your face again on my life. You destroyed the perfect ordinary life I had and didn't even feel guilty about it".
He held her arms pulling her closer, "I hate myself too, the guilt has been eating at me for all these years, and I have been trying to ask for your forgiveness but you refused to give me a chance".
She pushed him away, "Jack ask yourself this question, why do you want my forgiveness?" she asked.
He didn't answer.
"It's because your selfish mind wants that guilt gone so you can sleep better at night and move on, but not because you know you did wrong and are asking me to forgive you so I can feel better for what you did to me. Even now your everything is still about you"
He could see a tear escape her eyes, but she turned away hiding her pain.
She walked to the bed, carried her son and walked out.
