Molly's thoughts continued swirling wildly before settling on a rather unpleasant one. Evan said becoming her boyfriend was Stella's idea. It was bizarre thinking of her cat and a demon conspiring together but that wasn't the problem.
If it was Stella's idea…and he admitted he had been calculating…was everything a lie? Did he even love her at all?
Her heart threatened to shatter at the very thought. He probably didn't. He only cared about her the way a servant cared about a master and would do anything to make her happy because of what he called a life debt.
If he could kill and conquer on behalf of his former master, he could force himself to do anything. He saw himself as a tool so whatever he felt about what he was doing wouldn't matter to him.
