Chapter 52: Sample collection

"Don't worry, it'll be safe and painless." Lucian followed Hinami's words, if even she had tried to persuade Ryoko, he couldn't be left behind.

When he reached the desired point, four small "paws" came out of the tip and with a clawing motion he ripped out a piece of the lung. After completing this step, he pulled it out and then placed the lung sample in a glass container.

"Lung and blood are gone, now I have to turn her over," Lucian commented to himself as he nodded contentedly. Putting Hinami on her side would allow easy access to the kakuhou, and the marrow could be taken from almost any bone.

This time, however, he used a scary needle, a long, thick needle that would be used to pierce the bone.

And just like every other procedure he's done or intended to do, it went off without a hitch.

"Now for the fun part." He smiled, inserting a needle into Hinami's kakuhou, considering that only on activation of the kagune do the rc cells form connections and solidify, the entire contents of the kakuhou were in a liquid state slightly denser than blood.

As he pulled the plunger and the needle container slowly filled up, he could see that unlike normal cells, rc cells could still react and move when they were outside their original body.

A few connections were formed, as if they were trying to escape from the glassy prison in which they found themselves, they seemed to have a life of their own.

At the end of the day, the only reason this was even remotely amusing was that the rc cells were still relatively new, even though he had already handled about 50 kakuhou before...
