Chapter Seven

Choon-Hee woke up laying on the couch. She looked around slightly disoriented as she tried to remember what happened. She sat up as she observed the pillows and blankets surrounding her. That's right, Mi-Sun and her watched a horror movie with Bin and Chris. Wait… right?

Choon-Hee threw the blanket keeping her warm off and padded quickly down the hall to her room. Was it a dream? But nope, sure enough there was her dress laying on her bed in the black plastic cover. She had planned to clear out her closet floor after Chan and Bin left before putting it in her closet. She didn't expect Mi-Sun to invite them to watch a movie and she definitely didn't expect to pass out at some point.

Choon-Hee thought for a moment. Wasn't Chan still here when she fell asleep? Yeah, he was. She was leaning on his shoulder, wasn't she? She heard a clatter in the common area and that provoked Choon-Hee to look at the clock to find it was 4 am. She went down the hall and into the living room.

"Ah ha! Busted!" Choon-Hee called out as she pointed at Mi-Sun trying to sneak out Bin. Mi-Sun had her hands on his back and he was holding his shoes in his hand.

"Now, it's not what it looks like!" Mi-Sun quickly said. "We were talking and we ended up falling just like you and Chris did."

"Mhm. Likely story."

"I'll just get going then…" Bin said and quickly opened the door and bolted. Mi-Sun went to open her mouth to argue with Choon-Hee. Choon-Hee raised her hand to silence her best friend.

"It's 4 am. I want to go back to sleep. We can talk more about it in a good time of the morning." Choon-Hee said before going over to the couch and burrowing in her den of blankets and pillows. Mi-Sun shut her mouth and yawned as she too went to go back to sleep.

Choon-Hee woke up around 8 am and cursed as she realized she forgot her medicine last night. She went into the bathroom to brush her hair and brush her teeth. She headed into her room and quickly cleared out the bottom of her closet. She threw away trash and threw clothes into her dirty hamper. She fixed her shoes in a nice line underneath her hanging clothing.

The only other dress Choon-Hee ever had even close to the long and fancy dress Chris bought her was her prom dress. But she didn't have that here with her. She only had a few casual dresses so no matter where she put the yellow silk dress it stuck out among her other drab clothes. She tucked it in the end of the closet, a bit behind the wall.

She quickly cleaned everything else up before getting ready for class. Chris didn't show up this time and she was a bit disappointed, but she reminded herself that he was probably busy. She went through class smoothly. She headed home and did a bit of work for Mi-Sun and then worked on a new project of her own.

You're probably wondering why Choon-Hee helped with Mi-Sun's theater assignments. Mi-Sun was a couple years younger than Choon-Hee. They had met in high school in Choon-Hee's senior year and Mi-Sun's Sophomore year. They became close and they were both in theater class. Not the same period but nonetheless.

Choon-Hee had always planned to go to college but just as she figured out what she wanted to do, she began to question her decision. First, she wanted to be an actress. That's what she wanted to be for many years, but eventually she realized it wasn't realistic with how many people struggle to pursue that job. She then decided that being an author was what she wanted. Writing was another passion she would surely be successful in because she had books online on silly websites and apps like Wattpad and A03 that are all over at least 2000 views. She quickly realized becoming an author would be just as hard. Her views for a book rose higher and higher until it reached nearly 80,000, yet she still received nothing from the site. No offers of payment or any special offers as such.

So she kept thinking about what she wanted to be. A forensic scientist? But she's really bad at science. A detective? But she can be really sensitive. If she sees someone cry enough, she'll cry too. A doctor? But what if her patient dies? She wouldn't be able to handle the guilt. Then, for some reason, Mi-Sun suggested Music Production. That didn't seem like a great option either but for some reason Choon-Hee still went for it.

She and Mi-Sun learned Korean together and decided to attend college/university in Korea due to their liking of K-POP groups like ATEEZ and Stray Kids. Choon-Hee also always wanted to learn many languages but it wasn't easy. But they managed to learn quicker in Korea. Exposure learning, so to speak.

Choon-Hee sighed as she looked at the clock and realized that it was now time for her to get ready for her shift. It was officially Friday and it has been a long week. Choon-Hee knocked on Mi-Sun's door.

"Get ready, it's almost time for our shift!" She called before getting ready herself. She decided on a normal yellow t-shirt with Tom and Jerry on it and a pair of ripped jeans. She threw her hair up into a round bun on her head. She didn't have any time to slap makeup on for work so she was going bare face. Mi-Sun came out of her room in a nice red blouse and a pair of bell bottom jeans. Her hair is up in its usual claw clip ponytail.

Choon-Hee slid on her high top van sneakers and grabbed her bag off the back of the front door. She made sure it had her apron and hat in it before heading out with Mi-Sun close behind.

"I think Obi is supposed to work with us today." Choon-Hee said as Mi-Sun locked the door. On Fridays there are usually three people working since it can get rather lively. It's Friday so a lot of people aren't worried about going to sleep. Sometimes if the month was a bit slow the cafe would be open during the night too. For people trying to sober up or get rid of their hangover. Luckily, Choon-Hee has the next two days off.

"Oh lets go! Obi! Obi!" Mi-Sun chanted excitedly as they walked to the cafe. Binna was behind the counter.

"Oh thank goodness! We've been so busy! Hurry hurry!" She exclaimed and the two females rushed into the back. Choon-Hee quickly pulled on her apron and visor. They clocked in as soon as they could and quickly helped. Soon Binna was replaced by Obi.

"Oh my god! It's busssyyy!" Obi exclaimed as he tied his apron again.

"I know right?! My feet don't even hurt yet like they usually do on slow days." Choon-Hee exclaimed as she worked on making some new cookies.

"Busy, busy, busy." Mi-Sun agreed as she washed some dishes quickly as the bell rang. They all collectively let out groans. They had just got done with one big rush.

"I'll get it." Obi steps out and immediately spun back around and Mi-Sun and Choon-Hee both stared at him. "It's for Choon-Hee."

"How can you say you'll do it and then say it's for me?!" Choon-Hee exclaimed as she walked over and pulled the gloves she was wearing off. "Oh. Chan." He gave his dimpled smile as Obi went back into the back to make it look like he wasn't about to eavesdrop on them with Mi-Sun.

"Hey." He said, showing his dimples as he leaned on the glass divider. "I have something for you." Christopher said as he slid five tickets over the divider to Choon-Hee.

"What are these?"

"Tickets to my band's concert. I want you to come with your roommates." Chan said with a grin. "It's later today."

"I can't come. I'm working until then." Choon-Hee quickly said. A lie.

"Oh, well we also perform tomorrow—"

"I work tomorrow too." Choon-Hee interrupted.

"Oh, that's okay, we also perform on Sunday." How the hell were they performing all these days when they were a small band!?

"I work that day too."

"Oh well, I know I didn't let you ahead of time. I apologize for that." Chan said, giving a disappointed smile. Choon-Hee looked down at the tickets.

"Hang on, there's one extra. I only have 3 roommates, remember?"

"Oh the extra is actually for the coworker that I-" He paused as he looked around. "That I shoved off of you at your university.."

"Obi?"

"Yeah, Obi. It's another form of apology." Christopher said with a guilty face before putting his smile back on. "Um, just try to make it please." He said softly.

"Sure." Choon-Hee replied as he waved bye and left the cafe. Obi and Mi-Sun immediately bombarded her and Mi-Sun snatched the tickets.

"Come on Choon-Hee. You said if he's been at it a week you'd forgive him. It's been a week." Obi said as Mi-Sun handed him his ticket. "I won't be missing this concert just because YOU don't want to go."

"Plus you guys have already been on a date and from what I saw it went very well." Mi-Sun added.

"What!?" Obi gasped as Choon-Hee quickly ran to the back. "Hang on a minute! I didn't hear a thing about this!"

"Oh, probably because it happened yesterday!" Mi-Sun said as her and Obi followed Choon-Hee.

"Okay. Okay!" Choon-Hee shouted. "I'll go. I was planning to go anyway. I don't actually have to work those days." Choon-Hee said as she messaged the roommate group chat to tell them to clear up their schedule tomorrow. Mi-Sun pulled at her phone as it notified her of the message. She grinned and jumped excitedly.

"I'm so excited to see what their band can do." Mi-Sun smiled excitedly. "I mean Bin has let me listen to some clips but seeing the dancers in action, I'm so excited. I'm getting chills." Choon-Hee smiled with a shake of her head. She would be lying if she said she didn't feel Mi-Sun's excitement rubbing on her. The three became more energetic and closing was successful and quick.

"See you all tomorrow then. Oh, should we carpool?" Obi asked.

"Carpool?" Choon-Hee said.

"Yeah, did you see the location? It's not exactly close. Not walking distance."

"I would have if somebody hadn't stolen them from me." Choon-Hee said, shooting a glare at Mi-Sun.

"Hey! I had to make sure you didn't throw them away!" Mi-Sun exclaimed, pointing an accusing finger at Choon-Hee.

"Uh! Hah! Pffft! I'd- I'd never!" Choon-Hee said, letting out dramatic gasps and slams a hand on her heart.

"Yes, you would!" Obi and Mi-Sun agreed at the same time.

"Who's friends are you? Not mine!" She said, crossing her arms as she glared at them.

"Yours!" Obi says.

"And we are only protecting you from your own horrible decisions!" Mi-Sun smiled like it was the nicest thing she could say or do for Choon-Hee. Choon-Hee gave them an eye roll.

"Okay so whose car are we taking? Eun-Young or yours?" Choon-Hee asked. Kaehi, Choon-Hee, and Mi-Sun were all foreigners to Korea so they didn't have cars in Korea. Eun-Young was the only one born in Korea in their flat.

"I'll chat with Eun-Young, we'll figure that out." Obi offered.

"Okay, that sounds good. What should we wear!?" Mi-Sun exclaimed. "I'm picking your outfit for sure."

"No, no, no!" Choon-Hee says.

"Yes, I am—"

"Nope y—" Choon-Hee and Mi-Sun started talking over one another, arguing.

"Bye girls!"

"Bye Obi." They say at the same time before going back to bickering as they head home. The second they entered the house, Eun-Young and Kaehi were on the two roommates.

"What's this about?! I had plans tomorrow! Why didn't you say anything ahead of time!?" Eun-Young said and Mi-Sun and Choon-Hee looked at Kaehi nervously. Should they say something now? If they do say something now she might immediately reject it now. Kaehi being an introvert and not liking loud places… she might not want to come.

"It's a surprise! Trust me! You guys will love it!" Choon-Hee said with a smile.

"Looooovveee it!" Mi-Sun agreed with an aggressive nod. Choon-Hee elbowed Mi-Sun telling her she was being too much.

"It's been a while since we've all hung out. Being busy with work and with college. We haven't all gone and hung out together in months."

"I guess that's true…" Eun-Young agreed softly as she nodded her head.

"You guys like to go clubbing and stuff. I don't like doing that! It's too loud." Kaehi said with crossed arms.

"Oh come on, it will be fun! I promise!" Choon-Hee said, grabbing Kaehi's shoulders and pressing their cheeks together with a smile. "Pleassseeee?"

"Fineee." Kaehi relented.

"A concert!?" Eun-Young exclaims.

"A WHAT!?" Kaehi exclaimed. "AH naw! I ain't going!" Kaehi said so anxious she swapped to English.

"Dammit Eun-Young!" Choon-Hee groaned.

"And Obi!" Mi-Sun sighed.

"Sorryyy." Eun-Young said as she looked down at the ground.

"Whatever, Kaehi, you already agreed. You can't back out now!" Choon-Hee said, grabbing her shoulders again.

"I can and I will!" Kaehi said, trying to push Choon-Hee's grip off her shoulders.

"Come on, Kaehi! It's not even going to be that big of a crowd. They're a self made band. They haven't signed up with a company yet!" Mi-Sun tried.

"Yeah exactly. They aren't even that well known!" Mi-Sun informed her. "They even gave us the first tickets. For free."

"Has Eun-Young been keeping you updated about the 'Boyfriend' situation? Like, I mean you saw all the flowers and gifts." Choon-Hee said with a slight frown. "Bin, Mi-Sun's boyfriend is in the band and the one that is pursuing me, Christopher, is the leader of the small band."

"Hey, wait a minute!? Why is Bin my boyfriend and Chris isn't yours?!" Mi-Sun exclaimed, but Choon-Hee quickly shut her up with one look. Mi-Sun knew Choon-Hee could immediately bring up the night of their fancy dinner dates.

"As I was saying, the crowd shouldn't be too big for you, Kaehi. Please come! It won't be fun without you!" Mi-Sun begged as she put her hands together in a praying position.

"Pleaseeeee Kaehi!" Eun-Young begged as well.

"Come on! We all want you to go!" Choon-Hee exclaimed as they begged Kaehi.

"Fine, I'll decide tomorrow."

"You're coming." Eun-Young huffed, giving up. "I don't care if we have to drag your ass out of bed!" Kaehi groaned. Eun-Young turned to Choon-Hee and Mi-Sun with a smile. "We'll be taking my car tomorrow. Also, does Choon-Hee have the tickets?" They both shook their heads. "Give it to her, she is the least messiest out of all of us. She won't lose them." Mi-Sun sighed loudly as she slowly handed Choon-Hee the tickets. Choon-Hee snagged them with a cackle. She counted them to make sure that all the tickets were still there.

"What if she throws them away!?" Mi-Sun whined.

"After making everyone clear their schedule tomorrow and begging Kaehi to go? Not a chance!" Choon-Hee exclaimed with a shake of her head.

***

Choon-Hee woke up with no issues to her alarm. She quickly pulled on some ripped jeans and a yellow blouse that Mi-Sun had bought Choon-Hee but she hasn't got a chance to wear. Of course Choon-Hee wasn't going to miss the opportunity to go all out with her makeup. She did her primer on her face first. Pouring it on her face and massaging it into her skin before pouring some foundation on her wrists. She dot her fingers in it and put dots of foundation on her face until the foundation on her wrist was gone. She wetted a beauty blender and blended her foundation on her face. She put on some lipstick that was a shade darker than her natural lip color. She applied a red brown colored eyeshadow to her lids. She covered it with sparkles of the same shade. She slapped on some thick winged liner and put some natural lashes she bought from a Korean beauty store here.

Choon-Hee looked in the bathroom mirror and smiled, satisfied with her work. She started brushing her dark brown hair as Eun-Young and Mi-Sun busted into the bathroom. Choon-Hee let out a loud complaint sigh but the two ignored her as they chatted and sifted through their things.

"Where's Kaehi?" They exchanged glances.

"She hasn't come out of her room yet." Eun-Young said and Choon-Hee let out another sigh. She left the bathroom and knocked on the door. She reached for the knob to find it locked. She groaned before heading into the kitchen to open the junk drawer. Choon-Hee dug around until she found the ring of keys. She walked with heavy steps back to Kaehi's door, almost as if to say, 'Hah, can't get away that easily.'

She jiggled the keys around as she found Kaehi's room key and unlocked the bedroom door. She pushed it opened and tried her best not to step in anything as she made her way to the bed.

"Ohhhh Kaeeehhhiiii!" Choon-Hee said in a sing-songy voice. Kaehi remained fast asleep as her snoozed alarm started going off. Or, more like slept through alarm. "KAEHI! WAKE UP!" She groaned as she shifted and pulled her blanket over her head. "Oh no you don't!" Choon-Hee exclaimed as she grabbed the end of the blanket and tugged with Kaehi, who was still half asleep. Kaehi released it and Choon-Hee fell almost rolling over backwards.

"I'm tired.." Kaehi mumbled as she curled up into a ball and fell back asleep almost immediately. Dang, I wish I could do that, Choon-Hee thought as she rolled Kaehi on her back.

"Fine, I'm going to do your makeup." Choon-Hee said as she walked over to her desk and grabbed her make up bag. She started off similar to how she started her makeup. Primer, pouring the ivory skinned girl foundation onto her wrist. Once Choon-Hee finished her makeup Eun-Young and Mi-Sun came in. They dragged her halfway off the bed.

"Quick, Eun-Young. Find an outfit suitable for the concert!" Choon-Hee instructed. Eun-Young nodded and quickly dug around in Kaehi's closet.

"It's really a shame! She has so many cute outfits in here but she never wears them!" Eun-Young complained as she pulled out a high waisted black pencil skirt. She tossed it to the other two. Mi-Sun aggressively grabbed Kaehi's waistband of her sweats and yanked them off. She slid the skirt up and over Kaehi's legs and buttoned it closed. Eun-Young then tossed a pair of thigh high black stockings and a dark navy blue crop top with prints of stars on it. Choon-Hee and Mi-Sun continued to dress Kaehi like a doll as Eun-Young made her way to Kaehi's accessories. She clipped a star necklace on Kaehi's neck. Eun-Young's phone rang and she quickly pulled it out from the pocket of her pastel pink skirt.

"Hey Obi! We'll be down in a second! Just let us get our shoes on!" Eun-Young said with a smile. Kaehi had finally woken up a bit but she was still in the zombie phase. They drag her out of her room and to the door to put on their shoes. Kaehi was slow and eventually Choon-Hee up did her shoes for her. Everyone grabbed their bags and Choon-Hee made sure the tickets were in hers.

They rushed down and piled into the car. Choon-Hee in the passenger seat and Eun-Young, Kaehi, and Mi-Sun in the back. They rolled down the windows and blasted music as they screamed.

"THIS IS GONNA BE SO MUCH FUN!" Choon-Hee shouted. They stopped at the cafe to get some coffee before heading out officially. Obi's phone was set up on its stand with the GPS. It was only a half an hour away. They all talked and joked excitedly over the music as they hit a highway about having a Wattpad moment or how much fun it was going to be.
