With heavy heart and burdened mind, I stand,
A college student, in academic strife,
Depression grips me, lends me no command,
My future's shadow clouds my fleeting life.
Yet though I am but flesh, my spirit strong,
And knowledge, though it weigh me down, shall rise,
For I am more than what I have learned,
And in my struggles, beauty shall arise.
So let my pain be not in vain, but be
A source of power and a light to see,
And let my tears, a seed, grow into truth,
And bloom, a flower, to spread its sweet perfume.
And though my spirit may falter now and then,
I shall not fall, for I am more than pen.
