Accident

Jean Mary reached their room and sat beside Anne. But before they could start their conversation, the class discussion began.

It was Mathematics period and Jean Mary aces Math.

"Hand in your assignments now", her teacher asked them too.

"Holy Molly, I forgot to do my assignment in Mathematics." Jean Mary whispered to Anne.

"What?" Anne was shocked to utter the words a bit loud that it caught others attention specially their teacher.

"Ms. Caster and Ms. Locsin, can you share to the class what are you discussing about?"

For the first time in her school life she forgot to do her homework and Anne knew how responsible of a student she is that's why Anne couldn't believe Jean to forget that.

For her teacher, it is a heinous crime to slack in school, and Jean Mary shared that thought.

"Uhmmm." Jean Mary stood up to save Anne from scolding.

"I'm sorry Mrs. Jones but I..."

Knock, knock, knock. Jean Mary was interrupted when she heard a loud knock coming from the door.

"Yes Mr. How may I help you?" Mrs. Jones asked the intruder. It can't be hidden from Mrs. Jones expression that she was annoyed by the disturbance.

Jean Mary on the other hand was startled to see Jan at the door.

"Uhmm. Is... Is....Is.. Ms. Caster present in this room? Uhhhhmmm.. She... She...She dropped this, and I intended to return it to her." Jan awkwardly said, his eyes were uneasy looking on different directions.

Jean Mary couldn't believe that her assignment notebook was in Jan's possession. With her teacher's permission, Jean Mary personally get her notebook from Jan. And she was even more surprised to see that her assignment has been answered flawlessly.

Because their class has been delayed for a few moments. Mrs. Jones did not any more bother Anne and Jean, and forget what just happened. Mrs. Jones collected the assignment notebook and Jean Mary passed hers. She was relieved by the fact that she was able to pass her assignment, but she felt guilty again because her assignment was not her own work, it felt like she was cheating.

Break time. Jean Mary thought no problem would emerge, but she was wrong. She saw Kaye rushing towards her angrily and slapped her. Luckily, Jean's reflexes was sharp that she was able to block Kaye's hand from landing on her face.

Jean Mary stared back at Kaye and said, "What is wrong with you? I have been doing my very best to become a wall flower in this school because I do not want to involve myself in any disgraceful incident. But what rights do you have to hurt me?"

"You bitch, are you going to deny the fact that you seduced Jan. I already told everyone here that Jan is mine and no one has the right steal him from me." Kaye shouted.

"No one is yours to begin with. Stop pulling me into your nonsense. You are just going to ruin your already ruined reputation." Jean Mary retorted back and left immediately but what she did made Kaye angrier that she pushed Jean Mary and was about to hurt her. Luckily, many people was watching the event, and Anne and Grand were one of them. Anne and Grand rushed to aid Jean. Anne help Jean stood up while Grand blocked Kaye from doing further harm. Somebody else called the guard and guidance councilor but at the end, Kaye was pardoned without asking an apology.

However, a pair of eyes were secretly watching the event that transpired and that was Jan. Jan witnessed how Kaye bully his fiancée.

The whole day ended. Both Jan and Jean Mary returned home together. Jean Mary was not in the mood because of what happened. Jan on one side decided not to utter any words. Well, it was normal for Jan to be silent, but Jan knows for Jean that it was not. When they reached home, Jean Mary went ahead towards her room.

Mr. Smith observed the two of them when he heard Jan speak to him. "Earlier, Jean was bullied by Kaye Ronan. I want you to investigate Kaye Ronan and report to me immediately."

"Yes young master." Mr. Smith answered. He called a private investigator right away. To be honest, he was wondering why Jan Reynolds asked him to do that. It is the first time for Jan Reynolds to mind others business. Mr. Smith is guessing that his young master developed feelings toward Ms. Caster, if not, he would not be concerned.

Since the Ronans are famous in the town, gathering their information of them was not hard. Mr. Smith had all the information of the Ronans and gave it directly to Jan. Jan studied the documents and learned that the Ronans are quite powerful in that town too. They are into trade industry and has a lot of small merchant business in their hands. In addition, he learned that Kaye has the audacity to act out in the school because they are one of the benefactors in school.

Upon knowing this, Jan smiled meaningfully and thought of a better plan to protect her fiancée from Kaye.

The following day, they went together in school. When Jean Mary reached the classroom, her classmates were gossiping but immediately stopped when they saw her.

Jean Mary was wondering what happened that her classmates' attitude was indifferent towards her.

Jean Mary asked Anne about this, and Anne said, "Haven't you heard the news?"

"What news?" She was curious too.

"I remember, I am the only one who is gossipy here." Anne joked to her.

"Come on, stop the suspense and tell me now."

"Okay fine. Here's the thing, according to my sources, Kaye got into an accident, and she became a victim of a hit-and-run." Anne said.

"Really?" Jean was in disbelief when she heard the news, but she then looked around and saw that Kaye didn't come to school. "Is she alright?"

"She's in the hospital now. I have no updates about her condition. But do you know that her cohorts are thinking that the accident was your doing as an act of revenge and now they are afraid of you." Anne informed her.

So that explains why her classmates are indifferent. And she was bothered by it.

"You know Anne that I do not have the capacity to do so." Jean Mary said in a soft voice.

"I know that it is not you and I believe you. Don't mind those people who have vivid imaginations." Anne comforted Jean.

She was feeling low all day, and Jan noticed it when they were in his car.

"Is it about Ms. Ronan?" Jan broke the silence.

Jean Mary was stupefied, how on earth Jan knew about Kaye Ronan? Was he the one who ordered to kill Kaye?

Another realization that made Jean Mary dumbfounded.
