A Horrible Realization

Jan closed the door of his room. He was startled to see that the woman whom he's engaged to was Jean Mary. Ever since their chance encounter he developed a slight crush on her. Jan smiled, but he is in a dilemma because he is aware of his family's reputation. His face turned sour when he thought of this fact.

Jean Mary on the other hand was lying still in her room. The house is big but only the three of them occupies it. "This house architectural design is morbid. Maybe the original owner of this house is a necrophilic type of person? Hmmm. I'll try to investigate what happened to the women who died in here. I will not let myself die easily. I'm still so young. I still haven't seen the world yet." She uttered to herself with much resolve.

Jean Mary felt so bored that she stood up and decided to explore the big mansion. She opened the door and heard a creaked sound coming from the door. She felt a bit of fear, but she just brushed it off thinking that this room had been abandoned for so long, that's why so many freaking sounds can be heard. She looked around and noticed that half of the place is still uncleaned, the place is dusty, and there are so many cobwebs. She continued her tour while contemplating on how she will start to clean the house. She is sensible enough to know that Mr. Smith alone can't finish the task, and he is a bit old to do so many chores. She wondered what her fiancée is thinking not to hire so many helpers. He's rich, isn't he? At the end of the hallway is a large door with unexplainable carved-designs and the doorknob is not a simple doorknob but looks like a head of a ram. She was about to reach the doorknob when she heard a voice.

"What are you doing?"

Jean Mary was so surprised that she froze for a second.

"I said, what are doing?" Jan repeated his questions.

Hearing the man behind her for the second time made Jean Mary back to her senses and slowly she turned around.

And for the second time again, she was even more surprised that she dropped her jaw to see a familiar face she had been longing to see for weeks now.

"a, I, I... I was just bored and decided to look around. I don't mean to intrude." Jean Mary answered him.

Jan was in his usual dark hooded jacket. He immediately turned away his gaze when their eyes met.

"You are not allowed to enter that room." Jan awkwardly told Jean and walk away to return to his room.

Jan made a mental note to remind Mr. Smith to tell Jean Mary the rules of his house.

Jean Mary was really startled by the fact that her husband-to-be was the man he met weeks before. Her heart fluttered. But at the same time sad by the fact that she's about receive the same fate with other Mrs. Reynolds.

Now that they have met, Jean Mary was a bit relieve that she's going to marry a handsome young guy and not some old freak man. Sheezh.

Jan on the other room was panting. It was the first time in his life to speak more than one sentence to a complete stranger. He was homeschooled for years. He just transferred to the school of Jean Mary, since, his grandfather wants him to continue his education because his personal teacher cannot accompany him to his hometown. At school, only Jean Mary was the one whom he encountered. He doesn't even mind other people trying to get his good side. He ignores them and looks down to the ground. Even Kaye who made publicly known that he is "hers" according to her, has been ignored by him. For Jan, he has issues in his life to deal with neurotic people like Kaye who has a neurotic claim for him. He doesn't want to add more burden. Jan shifted his thought to Jean Mary, he really wanted to make friends with her, but he doesn't know how to.

Jean Mary was lying in her bed, she couldn't remove from her mind the strange door she saw. She was curious what was in there that her husband-to-be doesn't want her to see. She thought of finding it out immediately.

It was a long day for the three of them, Mr. Smith both called Jan and Jean Mary to eat their dinner.

Jan and Jean Mary reached the dining room. Mr. Smith introduced them to each other but Jean Mary informed him that they met.

The dinner was too quiet and Jean Mary was not accustomed to it. Jean Mary's family was lively despite being small numbered.

The dish Mr. Smith served was steak and was cooked raw and it was bloody. Jean Mary is not used to this kind of cooking and she is an animal lover so she chose to be a vegetarian. But Jean Mary did not speak about it because she doesn't want for Mr. Smith to cook again just for her. She decided to do her own cooking. However, the doneness of the steak was rare and there are still some blood left in the meat and Jean Mary wasn't aware of it. When Jean Mary sliced the meat, she immediately stood up and excused herself to the kitchen. Luckily it wasn't that hard to locate and there she vomited. Jean Mary was in disbelief that the Reynolds family are carnivores to eat a bloody meat.

Jan observed Jean Mary and guessed immediately that she doesn't eat meat, so he ordered Mr. Smith to purchase vegetables first thing in the morning.

Jean Mary in the kitchen had thoughts going on her mind. She analyzed, all the women who become Mrs. Reynolds died, the house looks haunted, there is a weird door that I should not go into, Jan doesn't want a crowd, and Jan eats raw meat. Jean Mary's face became pale to realize all of it.

"Are they monsters?"
