Chapter-8

From that day he saw less of Samaira. Though they were in the same school van but the talks between them was limited to just 'Hi' and 'Hello'. They never played 'Atlas' again or debated about any political topic. Samaira would change her route if she saw Varun walking on that one. She wasn't afraid of Neha but what she would do to him. That fear gave her strength to do so.

Varun was a bit confused about this but he thought maybe it was due to the board exams. Yes 10th Board Exams, the one exam where your relatives living in one corner of the world would resurrect from their graves just to ask you your results.

It was last months of 10th, Board exams were right around the corner. Even the stupidest kid in the class started studying at that point. One day when Varun and Neha were talking Neha brought this topic into the conversation.

"Varun, you know board exams are coming right?" asked Neha.

"Obviously. That's the whole point of 10th isn't it?" replied Varun.

"So here's the deal. From this point onwards we will not talk to each other on phone. Okay?" said Neha.

"Okay not a big deal."

"No chatting on Facebook"

"Hmm that's a bit tough but I accept"

They shook their hands on it. Only time when they would talk was the Zero period but even that ended soon. Neha caught cold and after this there was no reason for him to go to school but his mother insisted on doing so.

Every day was the same routine. Go to school, listen to teachers giving tips on Board exams, watching juniors playing football, seeing couples at the terrace. That was the spot where Varun used to have his lunch whenever Neha was absent. But that has turned out to be lovers point in time.

Varun used to laugh at them thinking 'What do they know what is love? Having break-ups everyday and then patching up again and again. Giving chocolates and gifts on V'Day. Huh!! that's lust. Love is mutual understanding between the couple and to act maturely at situations.'

He started eating his lunch at the corner when suddenly a couple arrives.

"Shona! I know I am changing school and you can't see me like you used to but bear with in this." Says the boy.

"I know but it's hard for me. This....This thing isn't going to work out. I believe we have to break-up." girl said.

"No I don't want to lose you. I can't see a future without you!!" trying to hold his tears.

'Then you should get your eyes checked you stupid fuck!' Varun thought while listening to the conversation.

"These past few months were the ones which I will remember throughout my life. But baby when a chapter ends you have start a new chapter." The girl said holding the boys head in her palms and wiping away his tears. As soon as she does that she leaves him right there and walked away.

The last line from the girl's mouth left Varun wondering. 'That's exactly the situation that I'm in. What if this happens to me? NO!! I must talk to Neha!'

But deep down his heart a voice surfaced, a voice which he never heard..... The voice of PURE LOVE.

'But you mean the WORLD to her. She would do any such thing to you' These words eased him a bit.

Neha was finally over her cold and joined the school. At the beginning of the prayer Varun gestured to Neha to come and meet her ASAP.

They both went to the library where the librarian hasn't arrived yet. Neha wasn't sure what he was going to talk about.

"Why did you summon me Your Highness?" Said Neha in a sarcastic tone.

"You do know about my situation after 10th right? I've mentioned it to you like a million times."

"Yeah so what's the big deal about that?"

Varun wasn't able to say that to her. The guy who can beat anyone's butt in a debate wasn't able to say this to her. "Will......Will we still together?"

"........" silence came from Neha's side.

"Varun...... All I can say is that I WILL ALWAYS BE BY YOUR SIDE" said Neha and walked away.
