Football and starstruck

"And that's all for today, class dismissed!" Mrs. Fallhan cheerfully announced. First day of school was over.

The day ended quite fast than expected, luckily we don't have homework to google. Maggie sighed. She averts her gaze to random students in class. She smiled.

Glad that I made friends whew what a start, she thought.

"See you tomorrow Maggie!!" Carol says, "You too Jinks!" and hugged both of them. As she rushed towards the door to exit, so as the other students.

"I wish I was that excited to go home." Jinky said that made Maggie laughed. "What? it wasn't even a joke." Jinky rolled her eyes smiling.

"It bores you to help in the bakery huh?" Maggie asked as they pack up their things to leave, zipping her purplish bag open.

"Not really, I just don't want to go home yet. I wanna eat something! You down?" Jinky eyes sparkled, showing off excitement.

Maggie took a quick thought of it, I am not hungry though.

"Nah I'm good." Maggie smiled before zipping her bag close. And wore it on both of her shoulders. "My father's gonna pick me up too."

Jinky frowned a little. "Ugh, it's fine I can go on my own." Maggie laughed at her reaction.

"Say, your father is fetching you? everyday now?" Jinky asked as they finally left out of the classroom. The sky is at its orange dusk canvas colors in the sky and the cozy evening breeze swarming.

Students went back and forth directions, afternoon is where most students roam the hallways more. The ambience is so much better in dusk.

"Yup, it's been awhile since he does that." Maggie smiled meaningfully. "I miss my mother too." as she sighs with longing.

Mother, why do you have to leave me so soon. Maggie thought in between the fragments of her space.

Jinky looks at her friend and taps on her bag, "I bet she misses you everyday Maggie." She sympathetically says.

Maggie smiled and shrugged off the drama in the conversation. "Are you commuting your way home? You can always ask me to ride you home you know." Maggie said.

"Yeah and don't bother mind yourself, besides commuting is way dependable." Jinky says as she ties her hair in a bun. Her hair is longer than Maggie's whilst Maggie's are in darker shade of black than Jinky's whose more on brownish than blackish.

As they walked themselves towards the school's lobby, Jinky stopped her tracks. "You forgot something?" Maggie asked, noticing Jinky's hands still holding her hair.

"I think my scrunchie is left in the room. I have to go back." As she started running away before Maggie could say she has a spare hairtie. "Wait for me at the lobby!!" She added.

"Jinky! I have a-" as Jinky ran towards the right, not hearing a single word Maggie said.

"You know what, whatever she's gone." and laughs as she raises her hands in the air.

Their school building is quite a height, their classroom is even located in the third floor of the Ziang Senior High Building.

She inhaled the breeze that's playing along the strands of her hair. She closed her eyes and smiled. "I miss you Mom and I know you're happy for me." She looked over the schools ground, football athletes playing.

Her eyes caught the structure of a boy, she was watching him from afar. Nathan? I didn't know he plays football. She thought.

And might as well, watched Nathan play was entertaining. She even forgot she waited for Jinky to come back. To be honest, she isn't a fond of football or any sports at all.

To her she was all study and word puzzles. A total brainiac. Her friends would always gag about how she could possibly swallow the entire english dictionary. She's so good at English.

Lost by the view, she forgot where she was. She was just enjoying the afternoon and the view.

"See you guys tomorrow." Gulf said dismissing his friends. "Hang out soon dude." A friend of him fist bump him. "Yeah remind me." Gulf would say.

As soon as Gulf was alone, he proceeded at walking and walking until a girl whose hair is pitch black caught his gaze. Just like the very first time he saw her.

Maggie was smiling and giggling, she was really unbothered. Until.....

"Boo!!" Gulf suprised Maggie loudly, jolting Maggie to jump and scream. "AHHHH!".

Gulf started laughing at the top of his lungs, hugging his stomach. Whilst Maggie seemed to redeem herself and realized what just happened. "The hell??? wait Gulf?" She asked.

And in speed recognition, he really is Gulf. Her mind burned him into flames already. The rising embarrassment is starting to show on her face.

"You.. Youu should have see your face." Gulf said still laughing. Maggie tried so hard to conceal her embarrassment. "W-why did you did that?? Are you not aware I was silent here."

Well that was the whole point about suprising her.

Gulf stopped laughing and stood up to look at her. She really looked like she was suprised to death. "If I am not mistaken, you're Maggie right?" Just to listen her say her name again to him.

He already knows her right before he just noticed her hair. Though it smelled minty than floral like girls wore.

"I am, can you stop teasing me now." Maggie tried to compose her strict look which she knows, it will never suit her. Maggie went back to her place and Gulf still smiled.

"Move a little your too close." Gulf would complain jokingly. "God you're the one who's close, nutcase." she said almost a whisper.

Gulf laughed again. Thankfully, Jinky showed up, running. "Sorry Maggie for keeping you waiting, let's go. We're so screwed." Jinky says, didn't saw Gulf was there.

Though Jinky and Maggie left running, Gulf was still smiling, breathing on her minty scent. He was smiling that other girls in the hallway can't stop looking at awe.

"I think that's his crush." was a whisper he heared.

His face went to immediate blush and covering his face, turning his position in the railings his hands holding it.

"Why am I even smiling? what a creep." his heart already beating without his consent. Out of his full awareness, he assured it was nothing.

"What is she looking here anyway?" He looked at the school grounds. Football athletes running over the field.

Does she like football? "I think I might give it a try." He smiled out of nowhere again. It was the sweetest.

Meanwhile, Nathan. "What is disturbing you Mr. Chan?? focus on the game would you?" their coach scolding him.

"I beg to apologize coach." And proceeded playing. Did she left already? Why is she watching me playing? His smile uplifted.

He looked like he was just inspired more than ever. "Still in a good mood after getting scold by coach, not the Nathan we know." James, another quarterback joked.

"Its about a girl huh, Nathan Chan??" Henry nudging him, teasing him. Nathan can't help but smile and gave off the confirmation.

"It's a girl alright." He dismissed and smiled.
