The night passed and while it remained uneventful for Julius aside from having to suffer through his legs going numb as Yuri had eventually cried herself to sleep and short of using his Demon Blade Julius could not escape her constrictor grip on him.
So having resigned himself to his fate Julius knuckled down and slept seated on the floor, and come morning he was finally freed when Yuri awoke and raced out of the room beet red in the face making unintelligible sounds the whole way out of the room.
Julius meanwhile had perfected the act of what life would be like when he entered old age, as he's slept seated on the cold stone floor with a weight pressing down on his legs pushing them further into the ground.
The pain in his legs and lower back was as of yet a thing unknown to Julius in this life or his last.
With the night having slipped away the chance of performing a night raid had come and gone.
So their options remained now with the original two.
And the choice was simple, to prevent their newly acquired loyalty from falling and having to try that much harder to recoup it, Julius sent out the command to the legion within to marshal and make for the south gate.
Once the men had assembled Julius had a quick discussion with the General, Legion Commanders and Cohort leaders and Centurions.
Briefing was rather quick as they all knew without a doubt Roserun would be coming with their army in retaliation for this slight and occupation of lands they consider to be their own.
These men are seasoned veteran now having been through both the Bridget and Lunan campaigns these men's loyalty and training were high offering up some of the best discipline amonst Julius's legions.
The plan was straightforward, the legion would depart out the south gate and advance towards the oncoming enemy army who was still breaking up their camp to continue puruit of the fleeing commoners.
Once the enemy was sighted they'd form up a shield wall formation and crash lines with the Roserun forces.
Nipping at the enemy's flanks with their cavalry and gunning down any unlucky souls who try to flee the battlefield, or are not watching the sky as arrown rain down at the rear of whatever formation they deploy in the field.
"We shall not fail you Milord!" <General >
"Thank you, by the way where is Yurasia?" <Julius >
"The Princess said she was going to be leading the Iron Cavalry during this battle Sir." <General >
Having been informed Julius turned his view to see Yuri just as she mounted her war horse, their eyes met for a split second but she quickly averted her gaze.
Mmm the shame of having cried herself to sleep in front of me will take time to fade, I'll need to walk on eggshells for a while here.
"That should be fine, the cavalry faces little to no risk in this fight but even still please keep an eye on the cavalry to not put the Princess in harms way." <Julius >
"Understood Milord" <General >
The final commands were made and the 5,000 man legion began to file out of the city marching at a pace that would far outmatch their opponents in this upcoming fight.
The built up stamina thanks to the regular rigorous training mean his men could march faster, further, and fight for longer than those they come across.
Once Roserun is dealt with, we can focus on reinforcing the border with Visigoth, and the development of our new nation, and then will come dealing with the Ramie and Parthians during which time I'll need to keep an eye on developments as they happen around the world as the aggression level is clearly climbing, at least with this happening Visigoth will need to divert some of it's forces to reinforce their own territories against these other rising military forces.
As the march continued on the bugles began to sound alerting to need to change formation from a marching on to their active battlefield stance.
In the distance Julius could see from atop his horse the scrambling Roserun force who clearly did not expect to see an opposing matched army, and the Latinium on at that.
While Julius's Legionnaires had banded together into dual lined formation 6 layers deep each, at the rear of each cohort forming sections of these lines were the Cohort leaders on horseback with the Centurions standing upon the ground ready to begin relaying orders down the lines to the Captains and regular legionaires.
The cavalry had been placed at the rear of their right flank, this left their Left flank exposed however thanks to their scout the enemy had limited cavalry of their own so even if one they deployed themselves adjustments could be made to split their own cavalry force to counter General Bellac
Yuri was raring to go urge her men on with a speech of her own that seemed to just go on and on and one, Julius himself had no speech ready opting to be a minimalist commander this time around.
Opposite them after a few dozen minutes had passed the Roserun army was finally ready, they had decided upon a crane wing formation, with their limited cavalry aligned at the same side as Julius's own so a cavalry clash is highly likely.
The cries of battle were unleashed as the Roserun solider began a foot charge, the Legion continued their slow shieldwall advance ready to receive the enemy charge.
