Prepping for the Meeting

"Hm, maybe but I'll probably be too busy to even see her. And considering how important this meeting is, she might not even be a part of it. She did say it herself."

After thinking this, he finished his beer and tossed it into the recycling bin.

"No matter, I need to pack up and make my orders. It's going to be a busy few days."

And it was busy for the both of them.

Liu Yang continued to tackle that ever-growing pile of files as she worked on the documents for the annual meeting. Safe to say, she spent a few days working later than usual, typing away furiously.

And Wang Li stayed true to his word, closing his stall for these aforementioned days. Driving to multiple wholesalers as well as various stores to stock up on his supplies and ingredients. Loading up various boxes and whatnot into his small truck, he spent much of his days picking his orders up and prepping them as well.

But the day before the meeting a message came from Lu Wen.

[Hey bro, my old man just convinced the board of directors in that firm to let you take one of their rooms and cook there instead of just delivering the food. Go park in front of the building, I'll be there to let you in.]

"What?"

He furrowed his brows before texting back to his friend.

[Why?]

But no response came.

He clicked his tongue before putting his phone down, thinking about how we would be able to pull this off.

"This is going to be difficult. I don't have enough time to purchase the right equipment so moving it is all I can do. But doing it on my own? Will their elevators even fit? No, if he's going to tell me this, he better help out."

Wang Li picked up his phone and texted Lu Wen.

[Fine, but you are going to help me move everything in and cook with me. Meet you at the firm tonight.]

After texting, he went to fill his truck with the necessary parts to his stall and drove off to the firm. By the time he arrived, it was four in the afternoon, just another hour before the workday ended.

Parking in front of the firm, he got out and stood by his truck, waiting for Lu Wen to come.

Five... ten... twenty.... nearly half an hour passed as he waited for his friend to come.

But he waited patiently, though there were a few impatient people, one of them being none other than Manager Zhang, who stood in the lobby. As he prepared to leave early, he noticed Wang Li and his truck.

"The hell? Why is he on one of our parking spots? Security! Tell that guy to leave, this is private property."

Although his tone was condescending and enough to piss anyone off, the security guards did as they were told, walking to Wang Li.

"Excuse me, sir, you have a permit to park here? This is private property so unless you are a part of the Golden Treasure Firm, I will have to ask you to leave."

There were two of them, standing on either side of him.

"Oh, I was told to be here. I'm supposed to be catering for the annual meeting tomorrow. They just told me to take one of the rooms to set up. I'm waiting for my friend to come", he explained.

The two security guards looked at each other, giving doubtful glances as they looked at him and the truck.

"I apologize but unless we see some concrete proof, you're going to have to leave the premises."

Still standing inside the lobby, Manager Zhang looked at the scene smugly.

"Hmph, that'll teach you not to come here, parking in a private property. Good thing you were here, made my day better already. After Liu Yang left, the work seems to keep piling on and it's boring talking down to the others. "

He sighed before continuing to watch the show before him.

"Wait, wait, my friend should be coming any time now."

Wang Li looked at both ends of the road only for it to be empty.

"Damn, where are you? It's one thing to tell me to move all of my stuff here, it's another to just not let me in."

A minute passed before the security looked at each other and nodded.

"It doesn't seem like your friend is coming."

"Why don't you get back into your truck and move elsewhere? Even the other side of the road is fine."

Wang Li glanced at the both of them before opening his mouth to protest before the loud roaring of a car interrupted them. Blazing down the road was a silver Mercedes-Benz, going at an absurd speed before slowing down and stopping behind his truck.

The doors opened and Lu Wen came out, waving his hands at the guards. He was dressed casually in a hoodie and jeans, though his car was certainly eye-catching.

"Wait! He's with me! You remember my face?" he called out.

The two guards whispered into each other's ears before looking at Wang Li and lowering their heads.

"We apologize for doubting you. You may park here but there is a private lot you can go to. Be sure to get a pass from the front desk."

After speaking, they returned to their posts and Manager Zhang's eyes popped out as he witnessed this.

"What? Who is this man? Wait... The annual meeting, they were going to order from a stall. Is it that guy? And his friend, that's Mr. Lu's son! Hmph, now my moods even worse.

As he continued to watch from within, the two men walked in to get a parking pass from the front desk.

"What took you so long?"

Wang Li glared at his friend as he asked.

"My bad, my bad, I decided to take a nap since I thought you weren't going to be done anytime soon. Turns out that nap was a bit long."

"Yeah, almost too long."

"Alright, alright, but I got here in time, didn't I?"

Lu Wen chuckled as he spoke with the receptionists, receiving the parking pass and leaving together.

"Alright, let's go move your stuff!"

The two drove to the back of the firm and into the parking lot. FInding their spots Wang Li walked out with Lu Wen and looked around.

"Do they even have an elevator big enough to fit all the equipment?" he asked.

"Psh, of course, there is, it's over here."

Lu Wen led him to the far back of the lot where the elevators were.

"These two are for people and this one is for cargo", he pointed out, "I'll show you which room they gave, it's on the twenty-fifth floor."

As they walked into the cargo elevator, Wang Li looked at it and whistled.

"Much bigger than I thought, looks like we might be able to do this in one trip. Of course with your help."

Lu Wen looked at him.

"What? When did you say this?"

Wang Li smiled.

"If you're going to tell me to move my stuff and cook in the firm the day before, you're helping me. And I texted you right after I read your text. How could you have not read it?"

"...I went for a nap?"
