Chapter 19: Raining Gold

Cordelia POV

I got home today, Perseus accompanied me to the tower's waypoint and left for something from there, I understand since he's now very famous in the academy, by associating with him too much would be a bother for me.

But something was weird, his face was extremely serious, it's my first time seeing it on him. My brother should know something even if Perseus doesn't want to explain to me what's going on, all I know is the fact that the person is a he.

So I called my brother the moment I got to the dorm.

"Hey, what's up?" he greeted

"Yes, I have a question about Perseus. What does he do for you and dad exactly?"

"Well...remember quite a while ago that we caught and arrested few criminal organizations throughout several countries? That was because we had him infiltrate those groups and serve as their servant mobster for a while, why?"

"Apparently the 9th rank told him that 'He' is coming and Perseus seems to take it serious, he didn't tell me anything despite asking me to be his partner, do you have any clue who that is?"

"I don't think that anyone in the few little people left in those criminal organizations would worry him since they aren't raiders, even if they are, he's ranked 11th."

"No, apparently that person wanted to start a clan war, but won't it be idiotic to start a war against a ranker, they are normally existence that not even governments would try to anger. Even those in the top 100 treat those in the top 13 differently as they're just that much stronger."

There's a huge difference of strength throughout the past between the 13th or 14th ranks, sometimes it takes years till the 13 gods will choose someone to fill a position and just leave it unoccupied till someone is worthy like the number 1 spot.

Though the current number 1 is now proven to exist with one person who know the identity of such a person.

"Then for him to take anyone seriously, won't it have to be a fellow ranker?" Struan suggested. "Even if they're slightly lower ranked, they are still very dangerous opponents."

I didn't think of that, a person that a fellow ranker has to warn him about, a clan war between 2 rankers, I probably won't be able to to participate even if I tried or beg to, but something like this will shake the tower, the 13 gods will pay extra attention to something like this.

"Don't worry too much." Struan reassured "Perseus won't let any situation to lead to a war. How is he?"

"Very handsome and sweet, if I ask about what he looks for in a woman, do you have an answer? I'm asking this for a friend."

"He doesn't discriminate, don't worry, if you try hard enough, he'll easily ask you out." he chuckled

I didn't even say that.

"Say, do you know any women that he's been with?"

"Not really, he never dated anyone that I know of." Struan answered "So you don't have to worry too much, well maybe his sister and that's about it."

"His sister is nice, what do you mean?"

"Yes, that's because she hasn't deem you a threat yet. She loves him to the point that she wish they aren't blood related."

"I don't understand what you're implying."

"You'll understand soon enough."

Perseus POV

My clan is located on the second floor, the academy is in the center while the surroundings are mostly clan headquarters. And it's also used to draft fresh recruits from the academy like those basketball drafts you see on TV, but if you think those guys are the best recruits, you're dead wrong.

The best recruits are always the few who are directly recruited by a higher up of a clan, and my clan doesn't participate in those either as we see no reason to spend so much effort, half these recruits are just super rich graduates who got good connections that the clan wants to exploit and so they would just act like yes men to get those connections.

But it's not like those recruits are completely talentless as they at least are the top 100 students of the school at the very least, but only about 15 class A students are among those.

But by being a first pick, they get extremely famous and people would always try to suck up to them causing them to be arrogant in their abilities. ABusing their positions and forcing people against their will to die just for them to escape in some cases because they're 'worth more.'

That's how they get so prideful, and the guy who's angry at me was the same way, but he does have talent to back it up, the other rankers just tolerate it and try their best to not say anything, but I was the only one who called him out on it.

He kept boasting at how he got chosen by a former ranker to join the clan and now he got to become the new face of the clan after the former head retired.

The other rankers are more talented than he is in every way and all of them has met the 13 gods except him, they acknowledge his strength but not his attitude, so they lowered him a few numbers.

My clan runs a 10 story luxury hotel on the second floor of the tower that's also our headquarters called 'the Raining Gold Hotel' for raiders who want a luxury sleeping experience in here, I help out in the kitchen sometimes for extra pay.

I got in and sure enough, unlike before where my identity is hidden, everyone know who I was, it won't be long till the 13 gods update the clan rankings either, many people would love to have a connection with my clan since it now houses a ranker, it explains the recent boom in business.

I went to the staff elevator and scan my guild membership ID to go up to the 3rd floor where my sister is and head to her office.

"Sis, Brennan Giles Quinton is thinking of starting a clan war."

"You come to me late at night just to give me stress, whatever am I going to do with you?" she sighs
