Not A Friendly Match

The robust man wearing the Grandview Middle School uniform looked at Xavier. He shot a friendly smile at Xavier. "It's fine. Be careful where you are going as you may hit a pole."

Xavier's gaze wandered around and saw that the five people were actually giving him a smile. It didn't feel like they were unapproachable. However, their auras felt really threatening, Xavier admitted to himself.

"We will be going first as we have something to do." The five people walked away from Xavier and moved towards the basketball gym.

If his assumptions were correct, these students were really the five basketball prodigies of Grandview Middle School. In their entire stay, they dominated the entire middle school league and won three championships with all of the matches being a win. Lincoln Star Academy had always been a part of that league.

Because of this, their lineup had been called Five Gates of Hell as they would have complete dominance when they step up on the court. The scores were already in their control.

It was luck for Xavier as these players were actually two years older than him. They would be graduating this year.

Xavier could remember all of them clearly. When he saw them, he naturally knew all of their names because they were NBA Players in the future. In fact, he had been interested in these five players as they were drafted to different NBA teams.

The one he bumped into was named Marcus O'Neill. He was a bit taller than Xavier now. His face could make others feel intimidated.

Currently, he was currently the captain of the Grandview Basketball Team. His position would be a Point Guard and someone who possessed a terrifying ability to see what's happening in the entire court.

Although one of these monsters alone was already terrifying, this ability of Marcus had made them play efficiently and with his help, they completely destroyed all teams in the league.

The Shooting Guard of the Grandview Basketball Team was called Jude Green. He would become a terrifying presence in the NBA in the near future. He already possessed the ability to shoot from afar and he got a fifty percent chance of shooting the ball from the half court line.

This would all change when he enters the NBA. He would be the greatest competitor of Stephen Curry as he would make shots from beyond the half court line. This terrifying ability was coveted by all of the NBA teams.

Paul Smith would be the one who holds the Center position. His terrifying defense and power were feared by many NBA players in the future. If he already possessed this now, no one could ever score from inside the paint.

He possessed the ability that others called Absolute Dominion. It meant that a certain radius from where Paul is, it would be impossible to take a shot. He would become the best defensive player in the future.

Daniel Williams was the Small Forward of their team. His ability to learn and improve moves immediately were terrifying. This ability made him spot any weakness on the moves others make. Eye of Revelation was the name other players had given it.

Not only was he able to exploit and tell his teammates about these weaknesses but also he could use the improved version of these moves. That was why his teammates would call him the one who steals a house to build a mansion.

However, their Power Forward had an insane personality of playing with other people. If he got mad or angry at an opponent, he would completely destroy them. His name was Christopher Johnson.

He was currently the Ace Player of the Grandview Middle School. With his ability alone, he could defeat many teams. He was a terrifying existence inside the paint as he could a shot regardless of the situations or the amount of people guarding him.

Marcus, Paul, Jude, Daniel, and Christopher would shock the scouts of the NBA and when they got drafted, they would completely change the tactics already setup for the teams. In fact, there were special tactics created for the sole purpose of keeping these players in check and trying to defeat the teams they are in.

Teams were glad that they weren't drafted in one team. If they had been, they would completely destroy the entire franchise.

Xavier followed these five students to the Basketball Gym. He wanted to know what would happen and what they would do.

The window was slightly opened so he took a chair and climbed on it. He could now see what's happening. Ten minutes had already passed when Xavier decided to follow them.

He looked around and saw that the Lincoln Star Basketball Academy was talking with these five monsters. It seemed to be a friendly match so that was the reason the coach and the players were scared. They would be having a match against the Grandview Basketball Team. However, it didn't look official as no one was here and they didn't bring their coach.

Xavier didn't want to think too deep about this and only watched the game.

Prrrt.

The match officially began.

As expected, Paul won the jump ball and Christopher caught the ball in the air. He rushed toward the ring and left behind the player that tried to guard him. He jumped and glided in the air.

One hand dunk.

Christopher kept his hand gripping on the ring and his eyes were wide and stared at the center from Lincoln Star. He could see the scared face of his opponent as he smirked and muttered in a low voice that only that player could hear. "Weakling."

Xavier was not able to see this happen as it was a blind spot from where he was watching.

His eyes shone when he saw the dunk that Christopher played. It really didn't matter whether someone was guarding him or not. He would make sure to sink the ball in the basket.

For the first five minutes, he continued watching the match as face changed from that of reverence to the face of horror. These five players were really terrifying when they are together.

The score was 49-0. It happened so fast and the morale of the Lincoln Star Academy dropped significantly.

While these plays and moves were replaying in Xavier's head, one of the players from Lincoln Star shouted. "Why are you so serious about this game?!"

As Xavier recalled from watching this match, he was the Power Forward trying to guard Christopher. He felt exhausted and frustrated with what the other team had been doing.

At that moment, Xavier also felt guilty when he enjoyed the first minutes. The Lincoln Star Basketball Team was already ranked the lowest in the league. This was like adding salt to their wound and a form of insult.

Daniel walked toward the ball lying on the ground near that player and picked it up. He faced the player that shouted as he gave a mocking smile. "Who said we were playing seriously?"

An obvious change in the face of the player could be seen. Frustration, anger, and even hopelessness were evident in his eyes. He burst into tears and ran out of the basketball gym. The other players could only bow their heads.

The player saw Xavier watching from the window but he ignored him.

"Do you have other players?" Marcus said as he looked at Coach Michael and only shook his head.

The reserved players were not available today and this 'friendly' game was a rushed one. He only heard the call from the coach of the Grandview Basketball Team that their monsters would be visiting their gym. As such, this was only a twelve minute game and an unofficial match.

"Then this game is over." Marcus turned his back on the coach and the team.

"Wait." Marcus heard a voice from near the side entrance of the basketball gym. He saw a familiar looking man as this was the student he bumped to earlier.

"Xavier, why are you here?" Coach Michael looked flustered and he felt ashamed of the current state of the team. He was only a new player and it would make him feel weak to go against these monsters.

"I left my phone in the locker room and also I wanted to play a game after seeing you all do your best." Xavier shot them a cute smile.

Though inside, he was really furious and wanted to save the face of the team.
