The Dinner Party

After the meeting was over, Daemon tried to talk about the nightmare to Reiner but Reiner quickly shot it down. He didn't say anything much just 'Whatever you have to say, firstly let's go home and discuss the matter over there.'

Daemon didn't understand what was going on but connected it with the uneasy feeling he got from the meeting room like someone was watching him. He quickly dropped the subject.

The sun was moving further and further away bringing darkness closer to the castle. Daemon watched the moving scenery around the God's reach. He wondered if the ancient Pegasus lord has already arrived on the water falls.

*Knock, knock*

He heard some soft knocking on his door. When he opened the door, he saw lady Pegasus.

"Yes?" He was bewildered as to see her.

"Forgive me for disturbing your rest but I'm afraid I must inform you about the dinner party in the next couple of hours." She elegantly spoke.

"Dinner party? I thought parties are supposed to be tomorrow."

"Yes, that was how it was done. But since this is an emergency and the 'thing' is roaming freely in the continent, the representatives are eager to go back and make necessary changes for the preparation against the intruder."

"Ah, I see. I will be there."

"Thank you, young lord." She bowed and turned on her heels to go back and stopped when she heard Daemon's voice from behind.

"Hey, if you don't mind can I know your name please?"

She turned to him and smiled.

"Dahlia, my name is Dahlia."

Damon's heart fluttered. This was the first time someone's beauty actually struck him. He never thought about outer beauty, the only thing that attracted him was intelligence, but seeing Dahlia's smile, his heart was pounding very fast. But composing himself to his usual self, he spoke;

"I'm Daemon. I will be there on time."

With a quick nod she was back on her heels.

Daemon quickly bathed and draped himself on a nice outfit. He was ready for the dinner party. Since today is the dinner party they will depart tomorrow morning. Daemon was resolute in doing the training rather than sleeping since there won't be any potent mana down there. He wants to utilise the potent mana at most before his departure. He wants to advance the mana breathing skill in here. Down there, without the help of the potent mana, advancing the skill is very hard and time taking. So even if he is going to be suffer from the pain, he was resolute in training.

After dressing up Daemon went into his brother's room. He didn't knock on the door, he simply opened it.

"What the hell... a little privacy, sir." Said Reiner looking at his brother.

"What were you doing here privately, brother?" A toothy grin appeared on Daemon's face.

"Bloody hell..." Reiner face palmed. Then sighed. "Are you ready for the dinner?"

"Yep! All set." Daemon exuberantly opened his hands widely in an attempt to show off his readiness.

"Very well. Let's get going."

"What about father?"

"He will be there."

"Okay."

"Next time knock on the door before entering." Reiner said as he closed his door behind.

"I can't promise anything, but… sure thing." Daemon answered sheepishly.

He loved this type of interaction. Especially with his older brother. These little interactions made him remember the good old days.

"By the way I know her name." Daemon casually spoke.

Reiner quivered a little and looked at his brother.

"Whose?" Inquired Reiner with a slight shake in his voice.

"The lady Pegasus's name." Daemon answered innocently.

Hearing his innocent younger brother's answer, he relaxed a bit. But soon frowned again.

"The lady Pegasus?"

"Yeah, the one who welcomed us." Daemon started to hum a song Reiner never have heard of.

"The one who welcomed us? Her?" Inquired Reiner doubtfully.

"Yes. Her. What, you know her?" Daemon raised one of his eye brows.

"Yeah, I know her. In fact, all of the alliance members know about her. Well except for you, of course." Reiner looked at his brother with clear amusement.

"Wait, you know about her?" Daemon asked again seeing the amused face of his brother.

"Of course, you idiot. What did you talk to her? You didn't offend her, did you?"

"Uh… no. I didn't offend her. I just… simply asked her name. That's it."

Reiner took a breath and slowly released it. He couldn't believe his brother. Then he suddenly remembered something and hurriedly asked Daemon;

"Wait, I didn't tell you about her?"

"No. And who is that anyway for you to act like this?" Daemon was really getting annoyed with his brother. For his hazy and lazy questions without any proper answer. "Is she a princess or something"

"Well… you are right. She is the Pegasus princess." Reiner just casually dropped the truth.

"I see."

That was the only answer Reiner got from his brother. He was truly astonished by his brother's behaviour. He could have incited a war if he were to slip his tongue a little when he was talking to the princess. And all he got as an answer is two words. This kid…

*Smack*

"Ouch! Why did you do that." Daemon slouched while clutching his now throbbing head which was smacked by Reiner.

"Bloody hell. You don't even know what you did wrong, do you?"

"What did I do?"

"Forget it. Just let's go to the dinner." With that Reiner walked forward without so much of glancing his brother.

But abruptly he stopped and turned in a single swish movement and pointed a finger at Daemon;

"And don't say anything weird or… normal 'Daemon things' towards the princess. It can lead to many problems." With that Reiner was once again on his heels.

"What! What does that even mean?" But Daemon's wailing was for nothing as Reiner's frame was getting smaller and smaller.

"Idiot bastard." Daemon said while slowly rubbing his throbbing head.

"I can hear that!" came Reiner's voice like a thunder clap in Daemon's ears.

"Was just saying that you are the very best brother someone can ask for." His voice rang through the now empty corridor.

Daemon slowly rose and started to walk towards the direction where his brother walked off before smacking his head.

"Don't want to be late for the dinner at least."
