"Now choose; your life or ■■■"

"I choose..."

I rose up from bed sweating and panting.

That was a weird dream. Choose? What was the other option? I couldn't hear it and who was it that gave me that ultimatum? I couldn't make out the face, I can't even tell if the voice was male or female, it sounded so neutral.

And what exactly did I choose??

If I would have known, that this dream was foreboding the future ,I would have paid more attention to it. Maybe things would have turned out for the better...

Many thoughts and questions flit through my head while I checked my phone for the time. 4:19am. Still too early to start the day, but too late to go back to sleep, as I had to get up at 5 for school. I lay back down and stared at the ceiling. My cat noticed me and walked up towards my chest to snuggle up on it.

I started petting and stroking his head, while gliding my fingers through his long fluffy fur coat.

"Morning Nox. Did you sleep well?"

"Meow"

I smiled, we always talked ,no matter what day or time it was. I feet like he actually really understands me when I talked to him. He always replies to me and whenever I would feel down, he noticed first and came to cheer me up. He was my whole world, if something like soulmates existed, then im sure that he was mine.

I still remember the day we met. I was looking for a cat to adopt, since shelters didn't want to offer me one, I looked online. After all, there were more than enough cats out there who were looking for a forever home, and I planned to give just that. I saw this one post about him looking for a new home. It was love at first sight. His owner claimed she got allergic, so she had to give him away urgently. We arranged a time for the next day and I took him in. At first he was shy and wouldn't come out for the first six hours but then he got curious after it got dark outside and came out to explore the place. We instantly warmed to each other and it didn't take long for him to get really attached to me, to the point where he got attachment issues. Well it was cute in my opinion, also pets resemble their owners right? I had heard of that at least and I'm not surprised he's more similar to me than my own reflection.

"Meooooooow"

I randomly got thrown out of my reverie when he started staring at me.

"You are hungry aren't you? Alright lets get you fed"

I got up and Nox jumped from my chest, running straight towards the kitchen.

I followed suit, once I arrived at the kitchen, I picked up his bowl and thoroughly cleaned it in the sink from the rest of his evening meal. Nox rubbed himself against my legs ,meowing none stop which I interpreted as a chain of sugarcoating compliments like usual.

I opened the cupboard and filled his bowl with some wet food and placed it in his feeding area.

After that I left the kitchen and made my way to the bathroom. A shower would refresh me now. Undressing myself from my nightgown and entering the shower, I turned on the luke warm water and closed my eyes, as I enjoyed the feeling of each drop falling on my face. Thoroughly cleaning both my body and hair, I then turned the water off and stepped out of the shower. I kept it quick like usual, after all water costs spiked recently and I didn't have the funds to afford a long shower.

I got dressed and styled my hair in the damp mirror.

Weird...I could have sworn, that I saw a bunny plush staring at me just now... probably just my imagination... Lack of sleep got the better of me I guess...

I went back to my room to pack my stuff and checked my phone again for todays schedule.

College, gym, doctors appointment, that was about all for today.

I know for now it all sounds really boring from what you have heard, right?! That's what I thought too. I thought it's gonna be a normal boring day in my shitty life once again...

Little did I know, what the future held for me and how much pain and suffering would strike me....

Hey, Author here! I humbly thank each one of you for reading ◇Dark Souls◇! It's been a dream project of mine for quite a few years. I started coming up with the story back in high school and gradually developed it inside my head over the years. Since I plan to adapt this novel into a manga in the future, my writing style obviously doesn't go into the book style direction but more into the webnovel style. I hope you won't mind it too much. I'm an absolute beginner writer, I have seriously never written anything before and tbh I was scared to start this at first, but we all gotta jump into the cold water sometimes right?! Well anyways, I'm greatful for everyone's Feedback so far! I tried to adapt it into my novel and I hope the improvement shows. Thanks to my Editor ,I got a better understanding of Word building and grammar ,which helped me implement Story aspects better. Thanks to him the grammar also gradually improved! I've edited the first 3 chapters which were not grammar checked yet and also added some things here and there, to fit the rest of the story better. The strong point of this was its complex plot. Accompanied with good character interactions and character design were no cardboard cutouts. Story direction was also one thing that makes the readers on their toes to read. The downside was it has to be handled with an editor. Maybe the quality will be better that way. Anyways, this is still one of the best when it comes to plot out there. Good job!

Although there are small areas in each chapter the author could add more descriptions, the best thing about the book is the tone. For the first time, there is an author who writes with tone and mood. The story carries a mysterious, dark, and foreshadowing tone that really fits the genre. This book deserves a big 5 star 🌟!!!

For chapter two is quite short and yet so interesting. I love it, and the mysterious vibe it gave off. And the setting of the story is so good. The writing and the pace of the story are normal but it's alright since the plot was great.

At first, I thought it was a normal story and when I saw that she teleport with a bunny I thought, it was some Alice in wonderland story huh... but what horror after on 2 chapters its really a good twist The writing is really smooth, I had already added it to library and I will read it when I have time,

I really like the book.the beginning was a little dull but it got better and better. There was the occasional grammar mistakes but what author doesn't have those. I got a little caught off guard by the change in perspective but I later got used to it. The description at the beginning also was a little lacking at the beginning but I think later in the book you improved. Overall it was such a nice book and it is the kind of book I would gladly wait for an update (that's a good thing because I am a very impatient person)

This is a different kind of story for once and a good read for everyone, that looks for something new. 10/10 recommend Character design super nice, I can vividly imagine them actually. Plot is logical as well, though at first you aren't quite sure what's going on, but you soon get the hang of it all, as things get explained well. Writing shows the author is still learning but it doesn't bother too much. Overall rating 5

I like the concept and where the author is going with this, but the only slight issue I have with it is grammar. Not that it's too bad but some things aren't quite worded right and some punctuations are misplaced. Other than that, 👍
