Chapter 41

ADRIAN'S POV

"Can I go in?" I asked Melissa's mom.

"Sure. I know she would really love it if you were there when she woke up. I know she probably doesn't want me even here. I think she did this cause of me. Cause of what I did. My husband is asking for a divorce now." Melissa's mom said.

She began to cry and I hugged her.

"This was not your fault." I said.

She gave me a small smile and then headed down the hall.

"She shouldn't be blaming herself. It was me." I said in a low voice.

"I did this to the girl I love. She almost died cause of me."  I said again in a low voice

I slowly walked into the room hoping that Melissa wouldn't wake up.

I took a seat in the chair that was right next to Melissa.

"Babe. I am so sorry. I hope you can forgive me. I love you so much." I said.

I saw Melissa flinch for a second.

"Melissa?" I said

Again Melissa slightly moved.

"Adrian." I barley heard her say.

"Melissa." I said again standing up and hovering over her.

"Adrian." She said louder this time.

She opened her eyes and looked at me.

"You're awake." I said and smiled.

Melissa wasn't smiling. She seemed irritated

"How did I not die?" She asked me

"I guess your mother found you right after you took the pills." I said

"Damn. I was so fucking close!" She yelled

"Why would you want to die?" I asked her

"Cause of you." She said

"Melissa. I didn't know it was Allison. I thought it was you. She drugged me." I said

"It doesn't matter anymore. My parents are gonna put me in some suicide thing. To make sure I don't do anything stupid. I wish I just would have died. My parents are probably so disappointed in me." She said.

"They are not disappointed in you Melissa. You mother actually blames herself for this. And only herself. I'm going to tell her that this was my fault, and not hers." I said

"No. It was all of your faults. I guess she didn't find the letter." She said.

"What letter?" I asked.

"The letter stating why I did this. But I guess it would only matter if I was dead."  She said.

"Don't say that Melissa. I probably would have killed myself if you would have died." I said.

"Maybe you should either way." She said.

"Melissa." I said.

"I'm sorry Adrian. I didn't mean that." Melissa said.

"I know you didn't. Please listen to me. I am so sorry about last night. I love you so much. And I would never cheat on you." I said taking her hand in mine.

"I want you to know it wasn't just you that made me want to kill myself, it was everything with my mom and her affair. As well as the whole baby situation." She said.

I sighed.

"I'm so sorry" I said.

I kiss her forehead but she flinches.

"Adrian, we need to talk. About us." She said.

"What about us?" I asked.

"I think we need to end everyone. Cut all ties." She said.

"What does that mean? Cut all ties? Do you never want to see my again?" I asked her.

"Yes. I really love you Adrian. But we are toxic. We always end up getting to jealous or something. We aren't good together. I'm going to transfer colleges since it is still early. I'm probably going to move. I need a new change of scenery." She said.

"You don't get to do this to me Melissa." I said raising my voice.

"I am so sorry Adrian. I think it's best if we just don't see each other for a while." She said

"For what?! A week!! A month!! A year!!" I yelled.

How can she do this to me??!

"Yes what?!!" I yelled.

"I don't know Adrian! I just need space!" She yelled

"You know what, fuck you Melissa. I can't believe this bullshit you are pulling right now! I love you so much! How can you do this?" I yelled.

"Adrian, I love you so much baby. I wish we would be together." She started to say but I stopped her.

"And what's stopping us?" I asked her

"The world is. Adrian you need to forget about me. Find another amazing girl who will love you as much as I do. She will adore you. You will have a family with her. Please Adrian." She said crying.

"But I want that with you. I want a family with you. I want you Melissa. Always." I said

"Adrian please don't make this harder." She said.

"Fine. If you are going to do this. Kiss me, one more time." I said.

"Adrian. I don't know." She said.

"You are breaking my heart right now Melissa. Please." I begged. She sighed and leaned in. Our lips meet and I pulled her close to me.

I could taste both of our tears.

The love of my life is leaving me.

What am I suppose to do now?
