As he had accepted the task while lady White had allowed him to deny it due to the inherent risk, he had already cut off any chance at redemption due to failure. He had to accomplish it at all costs to prove his previous thoughts of passing all of lady White's tests. He was planning on excelling this task by not only discovering the method to resist the horde but possibly also controlling it, as excessively difficult as that was. Unbeknownst to me, such an action caused deep shock to Aura and Sophia. Both of the floors guardians were thinking that the last supreme beings was making plans for her departure as well, possibly due to the unknown illness. Although they were shaken, neither of them said anything due to the prior discussion during their meeting. That did not mean that they would not spread the news of the death of the supreme beings as well as the plan of the spider goddess to depart as well to the other NPC's.
