The mc and side characters are pretty cunning, but not like those annoying "smart" mcs who rely on predicting their enemy's action. His analysis skills are cool and so he makes smart decisions most of the time. Also, finally an mc who's not an orphan. The family dynamics are good. The worldbuilding also seems to have a lot of depth. I read the previous version of the book and can confidently vouch for this one's quality. But Everyone has different tastes so you might not agree with me in some points.
Really depends on what you consider powerless. He's basically gonna be a politician with a very odd cultivation progression method. The development is very twisted, as of chapter 200
