most people didn't even know about the Uzumaki though? It was only the older people like the 3rd, danzo, Tsunade etc. They weren't taught about them in the academy or anything otherwise Sakura wouldn't have been surprised when they found out Uzumaki was a clan name. Adults never talked about it anyways as half of them weren't even born yet. Orphans didn't get a last name, it was their first name and that's it. Maybe their parents last name if they were known, but over half of them weren't.
