Excellent, I was thinking about using the fact that I will introduce Elemental magic in this world as a way to create a remotely controled plant army/spy network, but your slow acting plants idea is a bit more subtle, I like it very much !
There won't be a spell with such a long name in this novel. But, a ritual can be imagined or a personal one shot spell of the MC might have a similar effect.
Yep, I have already planned something concerning his lineage. It will be revealed in the next chapter, or the one after that !
Thank you so much for telling me ! I am really sorry, I wasn't aware of this, I will only keep it in an auxiliary chapter and the beginning of the first chapter from now on ! And thanks for the support!
Just to make sure, there will be Quiditch, Arthur won't participate but Nick will. A competitive Gryffindor who doesn't play the only sport the school has ? Impossible.
Since the MC is supposed to be extremely curious and fascinated by magic, of course, he will explore Hogwarts. But my problem is always the same, he can't do much if he is too weak and has a restricted spell repertoire. I intend to address that issue as soon as possible, of course, but even if he will be a bit better than his peers and has been studying the theory for a long time...he has no practical experience in using magic at all. He can't instantly learn a spell, doesn't have infinite magic at his fingertips, and has to do his homework, which limits a bit the time he can spend on learning various spells. So, what can he possibly discover that the older students from the present and the past haven't already discovered and looted ? Who wouldn't protect his secret/legacy/whatever with at least a riddle, a passcode, or a trial ? The first two have probably been solved long ago and the last one needs either strenght (which he doesn't have in his 1rst and 2nd year) or niche knowledge (which is possible but unlikely as he will focus on general and useful knowledge first before exploring the more obscure parts of magic). So, for Hogwarts' exploration, although I really want to do it, realistically, there is not much left to do. I thought about creating something out of scratch, something that would really be mine, but it takes time and inspiration, which unfortunately hasn't been really present as of late. Hogwarts Mystery, as a source of inspiration, is a really good idea ! I haven't played the game myself, unfortunately, but I will look for some information online. Thanks for the idea ! Groups and Clubs are also a good idea, I have planned to make him participate in the unofficial Dueling Club in his second year, once he has learned some spells (I know it's "Joutes Magiques" in French, but I don't know the name of this club in English. I will look for it before writing anything though, so don't worry). He might create a club of his own, probably something about enchanting items, but once again, probably not in his first two years, maybe third or fourth year. I intend to develop Herbology a bit, but not for Arthur, he is pretty bad with plants, they are just ingredients and new knowledge waiting to be learned for him. But maybe Nick or another character could be more invested in plants, maybe even using them offensively, something to think about later... Magical creatures is pretty much the same, but I will try to see what familiars are in HP, and maybe twist it a bit to give some wizards a powerful ally (or useful in another way). That's something that can be done in his first or second year, I didn't really think much about it before, so thanks for the idea. And finally, he can't practice magic with his wand during the holidays so he will train in wandless magic during that time, mastering a new wandless spell every year. I thought about making him travel to some other magical communities with his parents, but once again, not before he gets stronger, like during the holidays before the fifth year at least. To answer your other comment about reading other fanfictions... I have taken some inspiration from another fanfiction for the latest part of the story, I really don't want to get more inspiration from other sources. But it's a really good advice, it's just that I personally don't want to rely on it.
I already intended to dive into the relationships with other students and maybe do something about bigoted Slytherins. The rivalry is a really good idea, and I guess I could use it to develop a romantic relationship, but I just have no clue how. But I will figure something out anyway ! Thanks !
I didn't have plans for something like that. Houses will be pretty united under headmaster Black. But I can do something about the extremists of Slytherin fearing something/someone, still, not in his first or second year.
The alternative, rituals, will be explored during his later years at Hogwarts.
How bloodlines came to be will be explained (at least some of them) in the next chapter, or the one after that, but it's not something he can replicate anytime soon.
