It's a really good premise, I like the characters and concepts (I'm a sucker for half demon characters) I can't wait to see what the father's story is and the full extent of the characters abilities. The chapters do need some editing but if that type of stuff isn't too bothersome for you then I wholeheartedly recommend you read this.
Starting with a funeral is always a pretty strong start to me especially as an inciting incident. I'm intrigued by the mystery of the protagonists origin and while I have some idea of what she is I'm interested to read more and see how she reacts to her heritage and family. TLDR it's a pretty good read.
This novel does a pretty good job of setting up it's premise, introducing it's main character and most importantly capturing it's genre. It may be another reincarnation/system story but it's gripping due to it's pulp detective noir vibe out the gate. Then immediately upends it by moving in an even more fun direction. If you like the Altered Carbon this novel is shaping up to be right down your alley.
I'm only through the second chapter so far. But, I'm loving the vibes I get from the protagonist. She's starting off in a super relatable position and I'm having fun watching how she's reacting to it. I can't wait to see how that plays out. It feels like it's going to be a fantastic romance. From some of the tags it looks like the rug will be pulled from under me and that's a fantastic feeling because it means the initial premise is super well set up.
I really like having the shy girl as the main protag especially in combo with the more outgoing friend who's a bit more put together. There's always a lot of good play with that dynamic. Especially in romantically centered stories like I think this one is shaping into. Moving into chapter 2 I go. Also, everyone has had that long-term crush it's super relatable.
So we're a writer group and the way I envisioned these parts that preempt the chapter itself are just meant to be narration to give insight into the events surrounding the chapter or quotes that help explain relevant concepts. So, in other words, yea 3rd person would be better here. But, my partner who wrote the first few chapters was just getting used to this mechanic.
It seems as if it's not uncommon for authors to review their own novels so we'll go ahead and do the same. This novel is kind of our take on the shonen genre of anime and I think while the novel isn't out to be completely unique it is out to execute the genre well. The biggest draw to the series is that its a first-person narrative that switches perspective often and while it only has one actual MC it's a story where most characters are built to be the MC's of their own stories. So, tell us your favorites so we know who's story to tell next. It's a little bit of a slow burn but forgive us. We want to make sure the foundation we build here can carry us through many different stories and not just this one. Thanks for reading and we're looking forward to hearing your feedback.
I am a writer. I don't really want to be known but I'd like my series to be.
Everyone needs goals.lol
I like the way the premise and the explanation for it. The mythology and lore sound interesting and I can't wait till more about the moon goddess and the town originator is revealed. I'm generally a fan of cynical protagonists who don't just buy everything that's been told to them all of their life as many of us don't. There were maybe one or two typos. Overall this is a great start!
