No. Depending on the sword type, 2 hands is either necessary or just far more comfortable. A longsword with one hand will kill your wrist, and it will not be utilised properly. If he uses a broadsword with 2 hands, then yes, it is a sword made to be paired with a shield like a gladius. It's a one hander. Just saying medieval sword makes most think of a longsword though, especially cause most media makes the characters use said Longsword. Deducting points for that is no good.

Not wrong but also not right. A lot of Anime are mid or low in terms of power levels. Few are high tier. But when you look for the Manga and or Novel for them, or just generally novels, a lot of characters come close to the top of the likes of DC and MC.
