1 Boring Life

Oliver is a 24-year-old man who struggles to make ends meet. He has no clear goals or aspirations in life. He only wishes for a comfortable home, enough food to eat, and some leisure time to enjoy his hobbies of gaming, reading novels and manga. He often wonders if there is more to life than this, but he lacks the motivation and confidence to pursue his dreams.

It was 10:00 The room was bathed in the glow of the computer screen, the hum of the city outside muffled by the quiet hours of the night. Oliver's tired eyes scanned the lines of his favorite novel, seeking solace in the fictional realm where problems could be solved with the turn of a page.

As he delved deeper into the story, a sudden interruption jarred him from his literary escape—a persistent ad that defied his ad blocker's defenses. Irritation crept across his features as he futilely clicked the X to dismiss the unwelcome intrusion. The persistent ad seemed immune to his efforts.

Suspicion flickered in Oliver's eyes. A virus? Hacked, perhaps? He reached for the power button, intending to shut down the computer and put an end to the digital nuisance. Yet, the machine remained defiantly operational.

The ad, now the sole occupant of his screen, revealed a message . "Do you feel your life is boring, with nothing interesting happening? Don't you want to experience the excitement of your lifetime? Just click yes, and we will make you experience excitement you never experienced before."

Oliver scoffed at the audacity of such a claim. "Excitement?" he muttered, his skepticism tinged with a hint of curiosity. In a moment of resignation and perhaps an unconscious longing for change, he hesitated for only a second before clicking 'yes.'

The screen flickered, and for a brief moment, Oliver questioned the wisdom of his impulsive decision. As if responding to his internal doubt, the room seemed to blur, and a sensation of weightlessness enveloped him. A kaleidoscope of colors danced before his eyes, leaving him disoriented.

When Oliver opened his eyes again, he found himself lying on the ground in a luxurious room. He felt a sharp contrast between his own humble room and this lavish one. He got up and observed his surroundings, wondering what the hell was happening. Had he been kidnapped? But if so, why would the kidnappers leave him alone in this room without anyone to monitor him? Was there a camera? Oliver looked everywhere, trying to find a camera or a hidden device, but he couldn't see anything resembling one. Then he remembered the ad he had seen online, promising a experience the excitement of your lifetime. Could this be related to that? As Oliver pondered the connection between the mysterious ad and his current situation

Oliver continued to survey the lavish room, his eyes darting from one extravagant item to another. The air carried a hint of unfamiliar luxury, and he couldn't shake the surreal feeling that surrounded him.

The bed, adorned with lavish linens and plush pillows, beckoned to him like a throne. The dresser, made from polished wood, gleamed in the soft ambient light. The wardrobe stood tall, offering a glimpse of designer clothing neatly hung within. Nightstands adorned with intricate details held delicate lamps that emitted a warm glow, casting a comforting ambiance.

A bedside table caught Oliver's attention, showcasing a collection of novels and manga, much like the ones he enjoyed in his free time. The titles were different, though, hinting at stories he had yet to explore.

A desk, unlike any Oliver had owned, featured a state-of-the-art computer and expensive peripherals. It seemed tailored for both work and leisure, tempting him to sit down and unravel the mysteries of this new reality.

The room's walls were adorned with tasteful art, each piece telling a story of wealth and sophistication. Decorative items and houseplants added a touch of elegance to the ambiance. The television, a sleek marvel of technology, hinted at a world of entertainment beyond Oliver's imagination.

As he continued to absorb the details, a realization dawned upon him. This was no ordinary room—it was a manifestation of a life he had only dreamt of. The computer, the novels, the décor—it all seemed custom-tailored to his desires, as if someone had meticulously designed this space to cater to his every whim.

A full-length mirror reflected his image, dressed in the fine garments that now adorned his frame. It was a stark contrast to the casual wear he had grown accustomed to. As he scrutinized his reflection, Oliver stared at his reflection, astonished and perplexed. The face staring back at him was not his own, but that of someone who appeared to be of Asian descent. The features were unfamiliar, the eyes almond-shaped, and the overall appearance strikingly different from the one he had known all his life.

"What... What's happening?" Oliver muttered to himself, his voice filled with disbelief. He scrutinized the details, the slightly different contour of the nose, the shape of the eyes, and the smoothness of the skin. It was as if he had taken on a completely new identity.

As he continued to examine the transformed face in the mirror, he remembered the mysterious ad that led him to this bewildering experience. The ad had promised excitement, but he had never anticipated such a fundamental alteration of his identity.

His thoughts raced, and questions flooded his mind. Was this a virtual reality simulation, or had he somehow inhabited the body of another person? The room, the luxury, the altered appearance—it all seemed like an intricate puzzle waiting to be solved.

Overwhelmed by the surreal nature of his surroundings and the inexplicable changes to his identity, Oliver decided to retreat to the inviting bed that beckoned him. He lay down, the plush bedding cradling him in a cocoon of luxury, and closed his eyes, hoping that when he opened them again, everything would return to the familiar reality he had known.

As he drifted into sleep, Oliver clung to the belief that this elaborate experience was just a vivid dream, a fantastical excursion into a world created by his subconscious. Perhaps, he reasoned, the allure of a life beyond his imagination was too good to be true.

In the quiet depths of his mind, dreams and illusions intertwined. He found himself back in his modest apartment, surrounded by the comforting simplicity of his old life. The room was bathed in the soft glow of his bedside lamp, and the familiar hum of the city outside provided a reassuring backdrop.
