Chapter 62: Freedom

Mute's chuckles eventually fade away, as he stares quietly at the massive crater, the rain turns into intense hail, that pours down onto Mute and the first-grade sorcerers, Mute's cloak blows wildly until through the loud hail, Mute hears someone speak.

" Null is dead. What are you planning to do? With her gone, you surely know Gojo will come here next. "

Says Nanami tightly holding onto his blade, with his blonde hair soaked. Mute glances at me before the sound of light footsteps enters his ears. Mute looks off the roof, seeing a tired Shoko walking towards the roof that Mute and the first-grade sorcerers are standing on.

Mute lets out a loud sigh before looking at Nanami and talking. 

" Truthfully, I don't have a reason to fight you. I was only here because of Null. "

Says Mute. The sorcerers looked at Mute surprised. It was the first time they had ever heard him talk. The reason for Mute's sudden willingness to talk is quite simple, without Null there. No one knows that he wasn't taught how to speak. Nanami looks at Mute confused before talking again. 

" So, are you just going to leave? Or are you turning a new leaf and joining us? "

If Nanami could see through Mute's mask, he would see a bewildered look on Mute's face. The sound of powerful hail slamming into the roof rippled out until through the loud noise, Mute spoke again.

" Tch, hell no, there's a better chance of the moon falling out of the sky than me joining you. Killing is one of the few things I'm good at. Why would I give that up? "

Said Mute with a wide grin under his mask. Nanami scoffed before getting into a fighting stance. Mute locked eyes with Nanami getting ready for Nanami to lunge forward until the sound of climbing entered Mute's ears. Mute looked back and saw Shoko on one knee next to the roof's edge. She had clearly just scaled up the roof. 

Mute stared at a tired Shoko breathing heavily until she spoke.

" D-Did Geto order the assassination of my life? 

Mute looked at Shoko blankly before he shrugged his shoulders, making a confused look appear on Shoko's face before Mute spoke.

" I don't know who ordered the request for your life. But I doubt it was Geto or he would have simply asked me to kill you, and if- "

Before Mute could finish his sentence, he abruptly snapped his head to the left staring through the thick hail. Through the cloud of hail, two piercing blue eyes could be seen. Gojo was standing on a massive fallen stone pillar with his hands in his pockets.

Gojo glared at Mute for a little longer, staring at the amount of cursed energy leaking from his body before he spoke. 

" Your cursed energy is familiar. Who are you? " 

Mute stares at Gojo not responding. An awkward silence emerges as the first-grade sorcerers dash back standing next to Gojo. Mute stares at the group before talking.

" Don't worry about who I am. It doesn't truly matter. I won't get in your way if you don't get in mine. "

Said Mute while looking up at the dark sky. Mute pondered to himself before he looked back at Gojo and spoke again.

" We can save our fight for next time, Gojo. It's fated for us to meet again. But I guess take care. "

Said Mute waving his hand before his body flickered, disappearing...

Many days have passed since the Tokyo Metropolitan Magic Technical School incident happened. The Jujutsu higher-ups have announced many changes. For the first change, a new special-grade sorcerer was announced. 

Mute was announced as the fourth special-grade sorcerer. From Mute battling the first-grade sorcerers without taking major damage and Mute exorcising the special grade curse all led to him being announced as a special grade.

However, after being announced, the execution of Mute was called for. Saying that Mute is a dangerous assassin and should be dealt with as soon as possible. The Jujutsu higher-ups have also called Geto's and Mute's alliance the biggest threat to humanity there is.

Back at the temple in Tokyo, Mute could be seen sitting on the stage in the empty room. He wasn't wearing a mask, only wearing a cloak, with his hoodie off. Mute stared blankly at the floor under him before footsteps entered his left ear. 

Mute looked to his left before seeing Geto walking towards him with a grin on his face. Mute stared up at the approaching Geto. Mute yesterday was forced to explain to Geto why he tried to kill Shoko. After a drawn-out conversation Geto finally understood why Mute had tried to kill Shoko. 

Mute quickly stood up before staring at the smiling Geto. Geto locked eyes with Mute before speaking. 

" I still can't get over the fact that you're still so young. I wonder how the Zenin Clan would react if they knew that Gen Zenin was still alive. "

Mute scoffed before responding.

" I'm sure the lesser Zenin Clan members would be shocked but I'm sure Naobito and a few more higher-up Zenin Clan members know I'm still alive. "

Geto nodded his head in agreement before Mute glanced over Geto's shoulder and watched as Mimiko and Nanako walked towards both of them wearing costumes. Mute stared at them confused before Geto playfully spoke. 

" Why are you so surprised? Did you not know it was Halloween? "

Mute glanced back at Geto while shaking his head. Geto scoffed before walking past him with Nanako and Mimiko following behind him. Mute watched Geto walk away before Geto suddenly turned around and spoke. 

" Come on and follow us. We can get you a Halloween costume if you want. "

Mute scoffed before following Geto, walking down the stage with him...

It looks like Mute has decided to become true allies with Geto...
