Chapter 57: Shocker

As Mute battled the grade-one sorcerers, something came to his mind. He knew Shoko was important to the sorcerer society, but he didn't think she was this important. All of the grade 1 sorcerers arrived at once after hearing that Shoko's life was endangered. Being the greatest healer does you wonders for protection. 

After being sliced by Kusakabe's blade, Mute was launched back after blocking Mei Mei's axe. Mute's feet slid across the metal shingles of the roof before he glanced around with hundreds of thoughts in his head... 

It's annoying, if Mei Mei wasn't here. I would be fine, however, clearly, she's briefed them about my cursed technique. She doesn't know I can shrink the distance between myself and others yet. But she knows I can enlarge and shrink objects. Every time I reach down and try to enlarge the metal shingles under us, they all dash back in unison making it pointless for me to enlarge the shingles. 

They keep their distance away from me, making sure they can land blows while I can't. Unfortunately for them, I know a lot about distance. I smirk to myself before I lunge toward the blonde sorcerer. I've read about him. I believe his name is Nanami. 

I throw a kick that he predicates and ducks prematurely. However, I shrink the distance between him and my heel making my kick slam into his jaw. His head is launched to the side as he catches himself from falling using his left hand. 

I tightly ball up my fist, and strike down at the kneeling Nanami before I glance to my right and duck, an axe narrowly grazing the top of my head. I glance up at Mei Mei, who's smiling chaotically at me before I lunge forward throwing my shoulder towards her. Our bodies collide making her slide back.

I take a deep breath before I watch as a figure zips past me and a cut appears on my cheek. I feel blood leaking down my face before I glance at the figure and see a man holding a sword. He's been hiding himself only attacking when he is sure it's going to land. 

I wipe my cut on my face with my thumb before I sway out the way of a green doll throwing a punch. The green doll slides past me from his momentum before he spins around and starts to throw a flurry of punches at me. 

I move left to right easily slipping the punches before I bend my knees and throw a powerful uppercut into the green doll's stomach. The force of my punch sends him flying through the air. As it flies through the air, I notice a sleeping bear doll with boxing gloves. I stare at it confused until the shadow of an axe appears behind me. 

I glance back and watch as Mei Mei holds her axe's handle tightly with both hands before she violently slams it down. The axe inches closer until it slams into a web of strings. Mei Mei grins as she presses down harder on the strings and slices them in two. I narrowly lean back as the axe powerfully slams into the roof under me, sending energy rippling through the shingles. 

As Mei Mei lifts her axe off the ground, I throw a kick towards her side, but before it can reach, the sound of something repeatedly bouncing enters my ears, I glance to my right and watch as a green fist slams into my chin, I stagger back before the green doll bounces off the roof coming directly at me. 

I freeze the doll in the air, before rolling narrowly dodging Mei Mei's axe. I locked eyes with Mei Mei momentarily until I spun. As soon as I spun someone appeared behind me, thrusting a sword but due to me spinning. The man's strike missed its mark. I grab onto the man's hilt before I quickly slam a knee into his nose, tilting his head back. 

I let go of his sword as he stumbles back bumping into Mei Mei before she pushes him to the side and starts to throw a barrage of attacks at me. I dash back ducking and weaving her axe. Until I slam my foot onto the roof, kicking a metal shingle up. Mei Mei slashes through the metal shingle before I tap the lower half of the broken shingle with my foot. Making it shoot towards Mei Mei.

Mei Mei stares at the metal shingle propelling towards her in shock. The shingle is about to slam into her stomach until Nanami appears next to the shingle destroying it with one attack. I smack my lips annoyed before I crouch down and place my palm on the roof. I start to fluctuate my cursed energy, injecting it into the roof until I hear quiet footsteps dashing towards me.

I look over towards the noise and see the bear doll wearing boxing gloves dashing towards me. I smirk before I increase the shingles' sizes, causing a massive explosion to happen under us, sending me and the other sorcerers flying up into the air. 

My cloak flaps rapidly in the air as I start to fall back towards the ground, the sorcerers are staring down at me, Mei Mei locks eyes with me before crows start to appear out of her body covering the sky. The crows shoot towards me as I increase the size of the snake wrapped around my arm and reach into his throat before pulling out a chain. 

The chain turns orange as I whip it toward the crows destroying them. I flip in the air and land on the roof under me before I jump off it and land in an alleyway. I start to sprint through the alleyway, as I hear the other sorcerers crash onto the roof. I just was on. 

I leap over a pile of boxes before I spin around and watch as the green doll bounces repeatedly off stone walls coming directly towards me. I grin before I raise my chain high in the air before I slam it into the green doll sending it crashing into the floor, causing stuffing to spew out of its mouth.

As the doll spews out stuffing, Mei Mei leaps off the roof powerfully landing on the ground before several crows spew out of her body coming directly toward me. I grin at the incoming crows until they freeze in the air, shocking Mei Mei, who stares at her crows confused. 

I stare at confused Mei Mei, until I hear a sound above me. I look above me and watch Nanami and the other swordmen fall towards me. 

I grip my chain tightly before I swing it up at them. I watch as they contort their bodies before they kick off each other's feet propelling each other away from my chain that slams into a roof. I smack my lips annoyed before Nanami rolls onto the ground and speaks. 

' I'm pretty sure he is the sorcerer that battled the special grade curse. Based on the fact he's using string and he's fighting four grade 1 sorcerers and hasn't taken any serious damage yet. " 

I hear the black-haired swordsman sigh loudly before he talks in a somber voice. 

" Great, I really don't want to die today. "

I stare at the swordman before I glance back at Nanami. I stare at him until several thoughts run through my head. Where's the brown-haired one? I know that he's controlling these dolls, but surely- 

Before I could finish my strain of thought, I heard several footsteps above me. I stared at the edge of the roof above me and watched as a plethora of colorful stuffed animals leaped down from the roof. 

Great, no wonder he was keeping his distance. He was busy making more of these dolls. I freeze the dolls in the air, as the other sorcerers lunge toward me. I prepare myself for their attacks until a massive explosion suddenly happens shaking the ground under us.

A blinding red light amits through the darkness of night. I stare at the bright light shocked, before I glance at the other sorcerers guessing from their faces, that they didn't plan for this to happen. I hear Nanami start to chuckle before he speaks. 

" Looks like you're in some serious trouble, Mute. "...
