“Sorry to break up the reunion, but I suggest we leave before the Chief changes his mind,” Namjeon coughed to get my attention. I nodded in agreement before my eyes landed over on Yunjun, who was still sitting in the corner. “I don’t think the Chief realized he had to drop an assault charge on top of a few others. If he realizes it before you leave, he will definitely not let the person responsible walk out of here without repercussions.”

Assault charge... Right, I forgot about that. Yunjun did give Namki stitches after all, but Namki would also get charged upon being discharged from the hospital because he had put his hands on Hojeong... Martha-Unnie will surely kill me if I fuck this up, but I did not study law in college, so I have little to no idea how those things work. After all, not everything is like what you see on TV. Okay, we need to get the hell out of here. First things first......getting sourpuss up from the floor.

“Yunjun-ssi, get up and dust yourself off. We’re leaving,” I stated but did not receive a response. “Yunjun-ssi,” I called more sternly, “get up!”

I am tired of putting up with his moody bullshit every damn day! Right now, I could care less about acting professional; I am beyond livid, and all I want to do is just go home. Not the dorms, but my real home, and I don’t mean that scrawny apartment Unnie had me set up in before I had to move in with this lot. I’m talking about where my daughter and ex-husband live. I know I made a deal to come by, and I really want to, but it presents a significant risk, but you know what? Consequences be damned! I can get my ass whooped for going there, but that is only if caught. So, I just have to make sure I’m not seen, right? Wait… This is the perfect opportunity to-!

My train of thought was broken when I heard Yunjun scoff. Jeongseok had helped him get off the floor and was firmly holding onto his forearm to keep him standing upright. When he finally looked at me, his expression was sour, but his eyes had a different message – regret.

I literally just had sex with my ex-husband in his office, who told me he still had feelings for me, and here I am also standing in the same room with another man that has feelings for me. Actions speak louder than words, and they don’t know who he is yet… If I kiss my ex-husband in front of them… No, Melody, NO! ABSOLUTELY NOT! You cannot stoop that low. I need to try something else.

Before I could change my mind, I twirled around, grabbing my ex-husband by the tie and yanking him toward me. He was surprised, to say the least. “Namjeon-ah,” I whispered into his ear, “I need to talk to you outside for just a moment, in private.”

“Whoa...,” someone whispered out of my line of sight, “When did Noona-nim get so...so- Well, that- I’m not seeing things, right?”

“Sure,” Namjeon smiled, calmly taking my hand off his tie. Then he looked at the guys in the room, “We’ll be just a minute, Gentlemen.” With that, he opened the door a bit, and I slid out past him. As soon as he closed the door, his smile disappeared, and he grabbed me by the wrist, tugging me around the corner so that his co-workers couldn’t see us. He let go as soon as we stopped against the wall, leaning our backs onto it, side by side. “Is something wrong, Mel-ah?” He quietly asked me, turning his head toward me.

“I need you to play along, please,” I whispered back.

“Play along? What do you mean?”

“They don’t know I am divorced. They do not even know that I was ever married, but did you see the guy I called, Yunjun? The way he was looking at me?” I tried to get out, finding it tricky to find the right words.

“The one that refused to get off the floor at first? What about him? Did he do something to you?” Namjeon turned his whole body toward me, now looking concerned.

“Not anything big-...”

“Not- What the hell did he do to you then?”

“Do you remember the kid I helped all those years ago? That’s the same guy,” I sighed, rubbing my temples.

“That’s the same-...,” Namjeon whisper-shouted before I put a finger to his lips.

“Hey, I was not done!” I whisper-shouted back before taking my hand down. “The guy told me that he is in love with me and before you ask... No, I do not feel the same. Anyways, he kissed me during one of our therapy sessions. I pushed him off, of course, but that is not the point. He won’t give up the idea that I somehow will develop feelings for him. Talking to him doesn’t seem to get through to him, so could you help me out just this once? Could we pretend we are still married, just for today?” I turned my body toward him so that my back was toward the corner.

“He forced a kiss on you?” Namjeon’s gaze darkened as he clenched his jaw. “That bastard-...”

“Namjeon-ah, you can’t hit him. I know what you are thinking. You could lose your badge for doing something as stupid as tha-...” I started rambling off before we heard someone speak up behind me.

“Ah, Doctor Marchesa-nim,” Chief Kim boomed as I turned my head around to see him coming toward us with a handful of papers. “I’m glad you haven’t left yet. I was just working on the release papers when I came across something fundamental in the police report. One of the reasons those men were brought here was for assault. If I read this correctly, there should be seven of them, but there are only five here. Would you mind if I asked where the other two are?”

“The other two are still in the hospital...,” I sighed before turning around to face the Chief.

“Well,” Chief Kim continued, “it’s to my understanding that one of those gentlemen assaulted a patient. Is that correct?”

“Yes, it is,” I grimaced, feeling my stomach flop at the sudden turn of events.

“Who was the patient?” Chief Kim inquired, staring me straight in the eye.

“The other member that is not here,” I said.

“You know what I’m getting at, don’t you? Legally, I can’t let those specific two individuals off the hook entirely because it is an assault charge. I don’t want you going to the Commissioner, though, just because I can’t fully keep up my end of the bargain. So, we could do something that won’t end up with two of your clients in jail. I also won’t be able to take it off his record without approval from a judge, but I can keep the file stored in the confidential area. We can settle this right now in the interrogation room. Do you want a lawyer present?”

“No,” I shook my head, “I don’t need a lawyer for them. We’ll take whatever deal you can give them. What about Namki-ssi, though? He should be out of surgery, but should he not also be present?”

“Since this is a delicate situation, maybe we could have him call on on a secure line for video conference?” Namjeon suggested.

“That’s a good idea, Captain Min-ssi,” Chief Kim genuinely smiled before looking back at me anxiously. “So? What do you say?”

“Marth-Unnienim is going to kick my ass for this, but okay. If there is really no way around this, we don’t have a choice. Go ahead with whatever arrangements you need to make. Let’s settle all of this before I take them home.”

“Excellent,” Chief Kim straightened his posture and bowed slightly, “I shall go make arrangements for the call with the hospital. Captain Min-ssi, can you move everyone but Kim Yunjun-ssi back to the other interrogation room?”

“Chief Kim-ssi,” I interrupted, “That won’t be necessary. They can all stay in the same room. They will only ask for details repeatedly if they are not present. I don’t like playing fifty questions, do you?”

“Hmm...,” Chief Kim thought quietly for a moment before nodding his head, “Very well, if Kim Yunjun-ssi is comfortable with them being present, I’ll let them stay together. Now, if you’ll excuse me.” Chief Kim bowed before disappearing around the corner.

As soon as he was gone, I groaned in annoyance, sinking back against the wall. Namjeon patted my shoulder with a look of sympathy, “Hey, you tried your best. Don’t look so down.”

“It’s still not good, though, Namjeon-ah...”

“Do you still want to pretend we’re married in front of them?”

“Might as well. It’s not like it could do any more harm, right?” I peered up at him. I felt mentally drained at this point, and having Namjeon there to comfort me was really reassuring.

“Let’s head back in there then. We still have to break the news to them about the assault charges,” Namjeon nodded toward the corner. I took the hint and was about to start walking when he grabbed my wrist again, spinning me around before I could process what was happening, and lightly pecked my lips. “A kiss for good luck.”

“You-...,” I gasped, “You just-...!”

“We may be pretending for today, but I don’t know if I’ll ever get the chance to kiss you again. I’m not sorry, though,” Namjeon grinned before letting go. I huffed as I turned back to the corner. He chuckled softly as he followed me from behind.

When we got back to the door, he pressed the same buzzer button, bringing us back into the interrogation room. We were met with five anxious-looking faces. Yunjun was leaning against the wall now with his arms crossed across his chest. Only now did I finally notice the darkening bruise on his jawline. Minhyun and Taemin were pacing back and forth but had stopped when they saw me. Jin-hyuk was leaning against the opposite wall of Yunjun, and Jeongseok was sitting on top of the table with his legs dangling over the side.

Okay, time to get this started.

“Gentlemen,” I addressed the guys in the room, “I should have mentioned this before, but this is my husband and Captain of the Police Department, Min Namjeon.”

The looks I got from around the room were perfect, astonishment and confusion. Yunjun’s expression changed into one of disbelief and then betrayal. He ripped his eyes away from us. Jeongseok’s eyes were glued to Namjeon and me, his eyes continuously darting back and forth with uncertainty.

“Noona-nim, you’re married?” Minhyun blurted out as if trying to call my bluff. “I don’t see any wedding bands.”

“We don’t wear them for security purposes. It’s in my contract,” I blatantly lied. Namjeon put his arm around my waist, not too tightly but firmly enough to try and sell our story.

“Noona-nim,” Jeongseok softly spoke up, “How long have you been married, and how come you don’t have the same last name? Don’t married couples tend to share the same last name?”

Shit. I forgot that detail!

“Long enough to have a beautiful daughter,” Namjeon swiftly replied for me, “The rest is confidential. I hope you can understand.” I smiled, thinking of the last few fond memories I had shared with her. It had been five years since I had last seen her.

Nice save, Namjeon!

“Daughter? What’s her name,” Jeongseok continued to poke.

“Her name is Yoonji,” I answered warm-heartedly, “She turned nine this year.”

“Your husband is okay with you living with seven other grown men?” Yunjun scoffed, throwing daggers at Namjeon. Just like that, my happy bubble had been burst, and my smile vanished.

What the hell is his problem? Is Yunjun jealous? Pfft-. Grow up.

“If it’s part of her job, I don’t mind. It’s not like she sleeps with her clients,” Namjeon retorted, glaring back at Yunjun. Yunjun tried to get closer, but Jeongseok quickly hopped off the table and firmly held him back.

“Captain Min-ssi, are you aware that I have kissed your wife?” Yunjun snarkily asked. I felt Namjeon’s grip on my waist tightening as if possessive. I felt my stomach drop, just remembering the kiss.

“So what? A kiss means nothing. I bet she didn’t even agree to it,” Namjeon snapped back. “Besides,” he bent down by my ear to nudge his nose briefly against the side of my head before staring Yunjun down, “I’m the one fucking her, not you.” I immediately felt the blood rush to my cheeks.

Dear Goddess! What is this? Some kind of dick measuring contest?! What the actual fuck?!?!?!

I glared at Namjeon before making a fist and harshly jabbed Namjeon’s arm. He flinched with a low grunt, his eyes widening before he playfully smiled, intentionally choosing to ignore the pain in his arm.

“I could arrest you for assault, Wifey.~” Namjeon teased with a wink, but I was not going to have it.

My eyes turned to ice, “If you still want your dick attached, you better shut your damn mouth, Namjeon-ah. They don’t need to know about my sex life.” His eyes immediately turned to regret before he cast his gaze down to the floor like a scolded puppy, quietly muttering an apology.

“Fucking hell,” Taemin breathed, “Remind me to never piss you off, Melody-nim.” He shifted as if subconsciously protecting his groin.

“LANGUAGE!!!” Jin-hyuk shouted with an accusing finger toward Taemin.

“…-but Hyung!” Taemin whined in protest.

“No buts! The Doctor and Officer swearing is one thing because they are older than us, but I don’t want to hear such filthy language from any of your lips!”

I had to try really hard not to laugh, but a snicker still made its way through, even though I had tried to cover my mouth. I watched Taemin pout, and I subconsciously leaned back into Namjeon, who kept quiet but softly placed a kiss on the top of my head. My eyes widened when I realized what had just occurred, and it took everything in me to keep myself from blushing again. Instead, I cleared my throat to extinguish the bickering that had spread around the room. The room fell quiet. All eyes were on me as I straightened myself. Namjeon got the hint and let go of my waist, rubbing his arm.

“Speaking of assault, though, that is something we are going to have to discuss before we leave. Chief Kim and Namjeon-ssi will be joining us momentarily,” I explained, glancing around the room, “Yunjun-ssi, we are going to need you to sit down at the table. Are you okay with the others staying in here while we sort this out?”

“What the hell?” Yunjun angrily shouted, “I’m the one that tore Namki-ah off of Hojeong-ah! Why am I being punished for saving his ass?!”

“Yunjun-ssi, Namki-ssi needed stitches because of you. You’re lucky that’s all he needed! Now, please, just.......sit down.” I retorted, my voice falling at the end.

“Kim Yunjun-ssi, I need you to sit in that chair,” Namjeon spoke up as he stepped around me, pointing at the empty chair on the opposite side of the metal table. Reluctant to listen, Yunjun finally sat down after Jin-hyuk glared at him. Namjeon sat on the opposite side of the table, where another empty seat waited beside him. Just then, the door opened, and in came Chief Kim with a folder and a phone.

“Good afternoon, gentlemen. I am the Chief of Police, Kim Baekjoon,” Chief Kim introduced himself before setting the folder down on the table and sitting in the empty seat. He reached into his pocket, taking out a small, folded contraption. He unfolded it and then placed the phone in it. At an angle where everyone would be in view, “Alright, Kim Namki-ssi, you can turn your camera on.”

The screen came to life as Namki popped up with bandages on his head. He tried to offer an apologetic smile, “Hey, guys...”

“Dick...,” Yunjun muttered under his breath. Namki chose to ignore his comment, and so did everyone else except Jin-hyuk, who was throwing an icy glare toward Yunjun.

“Let’s get down to business, shall we?” Chief Kim asked as he opened the folder, spreading papers on the table. “Now, Kim Namki-ssi and Kim Yunjun-ssi, you both have assault charges from the events that transpired earlier today. Now, with your doctor's persuasion here, I can make a deal with you to get you both out of jail time. Before you ask... No, assault charges cannot just be dropped because, regardless, you still caused bodily harm to another person.”

“Again, why am I still being charged when I was the one that pulled him off of Hojeong-ssi?” Yunjun pointed at Namki, accusingly, his anger still evident.

“You threw a man, according to the report, into a medical cart which crashed into the wall and caused the man to need stitches in the back of his head. In defense of another person or not, assault is still assault,” Chief Kim calmly explained. Yunjun crossed his arms, looking away toward the wall. Namki solemnly nodded as he listened to the Chief. “Now, as for what I can offer you both, and please, be aware that if you turn this deal down, you could be facing up to six months in jail.” That caught Yunjun’s attention; he whipped his head back toward them, the color drained from his face. “I can change the aggravated assault charge to a misdemeanor assault charge which would ensue community service and a hefty fine. The fine will most likely be at least 100,000,000 Won, and community service would likely be around 100 hours since this is your first offense. Your records will not be open to the public; they will be kept in a confidential area where only high-ups have access. What say you, then?”

“I’ll take the deal. It was my fault from the start,” Namki responded without delay. “Yunjun-Hyung was only trying to protect Hojeong-ssi, though. Can’t you just give me double and let Yunjun-Hyung off the hook?” Yunjun’s eyes went wide as he stared at Namki. Namjeon just shook his head with a sigh.

“Let me explain it this way, Namki-ssi. Did Kim Yunjun-ssi strike you to the point where you needed stitches?” Namjeon calmly asked as he looked at Namki.

“Yes, but-...,” Namki started before he was cut off.

“No buts. Yunjun-ssi still injured you. Therefore, he is also being charged with assault. It’s as simple as that,” Namjeon finished as he leaned back in his chair.

“Understood, Sir,” Namki sighed, “I’m sorry for acting out, Yunjun-Hyung...”

“I’ll accept the deal,” Yunjun quietly replied, looking down at the table, pretending to ignore Namki’s apology.

“Then, it’s settled! You can pay the fine online or by mail. You could also do it in person, but nobody ever does that,” Chief Kim announced as he moved the papers back into the folder and closed it, standing up from the chair. “You’re all free to go now. Thank you for joining us, Namki-ssi.” Namki bowed his head in response before the call was disconnected. Chief Kim grabbed the phone and its stand and made his way out of the room.

“Okay, let’s go home, guys. It’s been a long day,” I commented as I moved toward the door, as Namjeon stood up, moving toward the door. Jin-hyuk had to pull Yunjun up from the seat and then needed Jeongseok’s assistance to keep him standing. Yunjun was just staring down at the floor, his face void of emotions; he looked dejected. Jeongseok frowned and motioned for Jin-hyuk to put Yunjun on his back, and so he did so.

At least they still look out for each other, even after the chaos that happened today.

Namjeon placed his hand on the scanner, and when it buzzed, he grabbed the door handle, pulling open the door. I went first, and the others followed me out of the interrogation room. Namjeon pulled up the rear before escorting us all to the front doors of the building. Namjeon lightly grabbed my wrist, pulling me aside with a side glance toward the others before his gaze lingered back on me.

“I’m sorry about before; I should not have said what I did. Please, tell me you’re still coming home this weekend, Melody-ah. If not for me, then for Yoonji?”

“I promise I’ll be there. I will find a way to get there,” I answered quietly before stealing a quick peck to his lips. Before I could scold myself for being so brash, he pulled me back in for a long but gentle kiss. When he pulled back, he was holding my hand against his chest with our foreheads leaning against each other.

“You have no idea how much I miss you, Mel… Although it didn’t last for long, thank you for today,” Namjeon whispered before kissing my hand and letting me go completely.

“Hey, lovebirds-,” Minhyun started before I threw him a glance as if to tell him to shut up. He quickly closed his mouth and nodded, putting his hands in his pockets.

I wordlessly walked away toward the guys, with Namjeon on my heel. He quietly held the door open, and only until everyone had shuffled outside, he tossed the group a friendly smile and reminder, “Get your asses home and don’t cause any more trouble for Melody-ah. Have a safe trip home.” With that, the door closed, and Namjeon walked away from the door.

I let out a sigh of relief, happy to be outside with the five men I had come to retrieve. They were all looking at me expectantly when I realized that I had walked here and didn’t have a vehicle to transport them in.

Dammit, Melody! How could you forget something so vitally important?! Fuck! I can’t call the company, and I can’t call Martha-Unnie… We certainly can’t walk back to the dorms without them being sighted. My car is-… Actually, I don’t remember where I left my vehicle… I have one possible option… I will have to swallow my pride and hope that Namjeon is still driving a minivan.

I pulled out my phone and scrolled to the contact I hadn’t dialed in many moons. I pressed the call button and held the phone up to my ear while having the guys hide their faces from any potential passersby. It only rang twice before a perplexed voice answered the phone.

“Mel-ah, I literally just left you not even thirty seconds ago. What could you possibly need?” Namjeon sighed into the phone as the ding of an elevator went off in the background.

“I am so sorry for having to call you for this, and I promise I wouldn’t be if I had another option. Do you still drive a minivan?” I asked hopefully.

“Are you asking me to drive the six of you home...?” Namjeon asked in disbelief.

“Please?” I tried again, trying not to sound desperate.

“God Dammit… Okay. Okay! Come back in the lobby. I’ll have to take you out through the backdoor. I can’t have civilian eyes seeing the Police Captain pick up a group of people in front of the station. Especially not a group of idols… I’ll be right there,” Namjeon groaned before hanging up.

I smiled before putting my phone back in my bag and ushering five confused-looking faces back into the police station lobby. They looked even more confused when Namjeon reappeared from around the corner of the desk. The officers at the desk just looked at their Captain and shrugged as if to imply that it was none of their business. Namjeon gestured with his hand to follow him, so I lightly shoved the five men by me to start going toward Namjeon. They reluctantly got the hint and followed Namjeon down a dimly lit corridor with me at the rear. The short walk was filled with a very awkward silence. Soon enough, though, I heard a door open, and when I got close enough, I saw Namjeon holding open the backdoor to the back parking lot. I offered him a smile as I passed by, which he returned as he quietly whispered as I passed by.

“You owe me big time, “Mrs. Min”….”

“I promise, I’ll make it up to you, and thank you so SO much for everything today,” I whispered back.

“Noona-nim?” Jeongseok called out in a small voice. “What are we doing back here…? This is like a scene in the movies you see right before people die. It’s freaking me out!” Jeongseok tightened his grip on Yunjun’s thighs against his waist.

“Hey, don’t worry so much. Nobody is going to jump out of the shadows to grab you,” I said in reassurance as I guided him along. Namjeon had already passed us, and we were all following him to his vehicle; he pulled out a pair of keys and pressed a button causing the lights of a black minivan to flash up ahead. I watched as the guys threw nervous glances around at each other. Then, I realized that I had not told them why we were following Namjeon. As we stopped in front of the black minivan, I spoke up. “Namjeon-ah is giving us a lift back to the dorms. So, stop worrying and climb in. I call shotgun, though.” Taemin and Minhyun pouted when I called dibs on the front seat; it would have been cute if I was not still angry at all of them.

Namjeon smirked toward me with a knowing smile as he opened the driver’s door. He shook his head before he got into the seat, closing the door. Jin-hyuk slid open the backdoor, letting the others get in first before he followed suit and closed the door after himself. I opened the passenger side door and slid into the seat, swiftly closing the door after. I noticed Namjeon’s eyes on me as I pulled on my seat belt.

“What is it?” I asked after the belt clicked.

“Nothing,” Namjeon smiled before checking to make sure the others had fastened their seat belts too. Then he started the engine, pulling out of the parking spot and out of the lot, beginning toward the general direction of the dorms. “You’ll have to give me directions. I don’t know 100% where I am going,” he tossed me a quick glance.

“Whoa! The windows are tinted???” Minhyun shouted in amazement.

“Police perks,” Namjeon chuckled softly, putting on his right turning signal as I pointed right. “Honey,” he emphasized, “remind me what you did with your car?”

“I, uh… I actually don’t remember. Legitimately. I mean, I think I walked to the station, or did I drive…? I’m sorry, I really don’t know. It’s been a long day, dear…,” I apologized, feeling a little bad for inconveniencing my ex-husband. Although, I felt glad that he was still playing along as if we were still married.

“Should I send out a search party?” Namjeon teased as he continued to follow the directions of my hands.

“No, that won’t be necessary,” I replied, feeling a little embarrassed for losing track of my car.

The rest of the ride was filled with small talk until we pulled up to the guarded entrance of the dorm building. A security guard stepped out of the little hut, coming over to the driver’s door. His jaw dropped when Namjeon rolled down the window.

“C-Captain Min-nim, sir,” the security guard panicked with a salute.

“At ease. I’m just bringing some folks home. Do you mind opening the gate?” Namjeon politely asked.

“What, folks? Sorry, sir. I have to ask because of protocol-,” the security guard began before I leaned forward and over Namjeon, looking out the window.

“Henry-ssi, you know me, don’t you?” I asked with a smile.

“O-Oh, w-welcome back, Doctor Marchesa-nim,” he stuttered, glancing between the two of us. “Is anyone else in the vehicle…?”

“Yes, my clients,” I answered simply.

“Oh-,” Henry reacted before turning on his heel and rushed into the hut, hitting a button as the bar began to raise up. He poked his head out from the hut, waving us through, “Please, come on in, a-and have a good night!”

“Thank you,” Namjeon smiled before rolling up the window and pulling forward. I sank back into my seat with a sigh of relief. Then, I felt Namjeon’s hand on my thigh with his thumb lightly rubbing over my knee. I decided not to say anything and just let myself relax, knowing he was only trying to soothe my nerves, just like he used to in the past when we were still married.

We’re finally back! I cannot wait until I can sleep. I feel exhausted from today, and oh goddess, I need a hot shower...

Namjeon pulled up to the entrance doors of the building, putting the vehicle in park and unlocking the doors. He gave me a glance as I unbuckled my seatbelt. I quickly got the hint that he wanted to speak with me privately. I turned in my seat, looking back at the others with a smile.

“You guys head inside first. I’ll be up in a few minutes,” I said, relieved when I saw them unbuckling their seatbelts. Jin-hyuk opened the door, and each of them thanked Namjeon for the ride as they got out, but Yunjun paused at the open door. Jeongseok was behind him, confused as to why he stopped.

“Yunjun-Hyung? Why did you stop?” Jeongseok cautiously asked but jumped when Yunjun huffed and slammed the door shut. Jeongseok immediately sat back in the closest seat, eyes as wide as a rabbit, unsure if he should run or not. Yunjun just stared at the closed door.

“You can drop the act now,” Yunjun muttered, almost not loud enough to hear. Panic soared through me.

“I beg your pardon?” I asked. Namjeon unbuckled his seatbelt, turning his body so that he could see the two men behind us.

“I said, you can drop the act. You two aren’t married. No husband would be okay with his wife living with her clients instead of with him,” Yunjun sighed, sliding back into a seat before he finally met our gazes. “Why did you lie?”

“I guess the gig is up,” Namjeon sighed softly, patting my leg. “It wasn’t all a lie, though.”

“Some of it was true?” Jeongseok asked like a curious cat.

“I lied because I wanted you to move on, Yunjun-ssi,” I calmly tried to explain before looking at Jeongseok. “The only part that was a lie was that we are currently married. It’s now 2022, and we had our divorce in 2017. Everything else said was true.”

“Wait, wait, wait... Noona-nim, you and Hyung-nim really had sex today? I-In the station?” Jeongseok struggled a little to get out, looking like he was trying to remember how to breathe.

“Hyung-nim? Me?” Namjeon pointed to himself in amusement. I facepalmed, nodding to both Jeongseok and Namjeon.

“Should I call you Captain-nim instead?” Jeongseok asked, worried he had somehow offended Namjeon. Namjeon just laughed.

“No, that’s okay. I don’t mind. I just wasn’t expecting it, but yes, Melody-ah and I did,” Namjeon answered honestly with a wink in my direction.

“Why the hell would you fuck your ex-husband in a police station, Melody-nim? That’s so fucked up,” Yunjun huffed, crossing his arms in disapproval.

“Hey,” I wagged a finger toward Yunjun, “I did what I had to do to get your asses out of there. Besides, who’s fault is it that you all ended up there? Yours, I do believe, and Namki’s. Still, Namki-ssi had to get stitches because of you.”

“He had it coming to him!” Yunjun shouted back, “He could have given Hojeong-ah a concussion if I hadn’t torn Namki-ah off of him!”

“That DOES NOT justify what happened! You can’t just beat someone up. Namki-ssi still has consequences, just like you,” I fumed. Namjeon rubbed my knee, trying to calm me down.

“I wouldn’t bother arguing with her. You will never win,” Namjeon commented.

“Whatever,” Yunjun grumbled, looking toward Jeongseok, who was squirming in his seat.

“Uhm... Should I leave or-...?” Jeongseok glanced down at his lap.

“You might as well stay since you know the truth, Jeongseok-ah,” I sighed.

“So, you two really have a daughter then?” Jeongseok glanced up. Namjeon nodded with a smile. “When was the last time you saw her, Noona-nim?”

“Five years ago, actually, and before you ask-... My boss, Martha-Unnie, forbid me to see my family or contact them. The agency I work for doesn’t know about Namjeon-ah or Yoonji-ah, just my boss does. She told me it was better that way. Believe me, I wanted to go home and see her, but I couldn't. Don’t ask for details beyond what you already know because everything is classified information after that. Namjeon-ah found out more than he should have today, and I can’t have you two knowing the same level of information. It’s for your own safety, okay? Furthermore, you two can’t say anything about my relationship with Namjeon,” I poured out, having to catch my breath after. Thankfully, they both just nodded, but Yunjun looked like he wanted to say something more.

“Melody-nim,” Yunjun started before locking his eyes on me, “I can’t move on. I just can’t. You, of all people, should know that. I told you how I felt about-...”

“Now, hold on there,” Namjeon interrupted, grabbing my hand, “You keep your hands off her. Melody-ah is off-limits. We might be divorced, but I still love the woman. She’s also the mother of my child. Give up whatever fantasy you have of her because I’m not giving her to another man.”

I was definitely not expecting that. Namjeon to the rescue again.

“I bet I met her before you met her. I met her in 2010,” Yunjun retorted, clearly not ready to stop the argument.

“I met her in 2011. What’s your point?” Namjeon rolled his eyes.

“I loved her first, is my point,” Yunjun threw back.

“What? No. I had a romantic relationship with her. There is a big difference between the two! You had a platonic relationship with her,” Namjeon argued back.

I’m getting the feeling that I may have to end up confessing that I still love Namjeon, too, if this gets out of hand. As much as I don’t want Namjeon to know that fact, but this is getting ridiculous. Actually, no, scratch that. It’s way too early for anyone to know that.

“Noona-nim? Can I bring something up while we’re talking about feelings?” Jeongseok asked in a small voice. I simply nodded as the other two became quiet to listen to what he had to say. “I know Minhyun-Hyung isn’t the best at keeping secrets and probably told you that I have a crush on a noona. He probably assumed it was you, but I wanted to assure you that it isn’t. I like Mae-Noona, but I know a relationship goes against my contract, so before you tell me off... I won’t try to court Mae-Noona without Bin-Hyungnim’s permission since well, you know... Since he is the CEO of the company.”

That has to be some of the best news I have received today. Thank fuck, Minhyun was wrong about who Jeongseok likes. I almost feel like I should celebrate.

“Good for you, Jeongseok-ah,” Yunjun sighed before turning back to Namjeon and me. “Now, as I was saying-...”

“Yunjun-ssi, stop there,” I interrupted before looking at Jeongseok. “Jeongseok-ssi, thank you for being honest with me.” Then, I turned back to Yunjun and then glanced at Namjeon, “Since everyone is being honest in here and I don’t see this argument over me coming to an end anytime soon, I have something I need to say.” I took in a deep breath before continuing, all eyes on me, “Yunjun-ssi, I have told you countless times before that a relationship between patient and doctor is illegal, and I do not have the same feelings for you as you have for me. Furthermore, I love someone else, and I’m not going to stop loving them anytime soon...”

Namjeon’s smile faded as he stared at me, face fallen. Silent tears welled up and slowly trickled down his cheeks and chin. His shoulders sagged as he leaned against the seat for support. It took everything in me to not admit that he was the one I still love.

“You’re actually serious right now...,” Yunjun muttered, sounding devastated. “I never had a chance, did I...,” he choked back, “You love someone else...? I just wanted...”

Holy shit... It actually worked...

“It’s okay, Hyung...,” I heard Jeongseok say, hugging Yunjun while rubbing his back as Yunjun’s shoulders shook.

I just made two men cry at the same time. Both are crying from sorrow. There is either something very wrong or very right with me. I am not sure which. It’s a good thing Jeongseok is still here; I’d be doomed if Yunjun ran off again in a tizzy.

“Jeongseok-ssi, can you take Yunjun-ssi inside, please? I’ll be up in a few minutes. Run him a hot bath; you’re the best at calming him down.” I spoke gently. Jeongseok nodded before opening the door, helping Yunjun get out before closing it and leading him into the building. I looked back to check on Namjeon. His cheeks were wet, and his eyes were a bit red. “Are you okay?”

“No,” Namjeon shook his head, taking out a handkerchief to wipe his eyes and blow his nose. “I knew you didn’t feel the same toward me anymore, but hearing you say that there is someone out there that you still love... That fucking hurts.”

“Namjeon-ah...,” I sighed, running a hand through my hair.

“Who is it?” Namjeon desperately asked me, “Do I know them?”

“Yes, you do. Very well, in fact...,” I nervously played with the bottom hem of my skirt. Namjeon noticed right away, placing a hand over mine.

Shit. I feel like I am being cornered here... I have to be strong. I can’t tell him. Not yet anyway.

“Are you too scared to tell me...?” Namjeon sniffled, trying to look me in the eyes.

Lie, Melody. Just lie!

“No, it’s nothing like that. I just told Yunjun-ssi what he needed to hear; that’s all.” I avoided his gaze, a bad habit of mine whenever I lie.

“Melody-ah... Why are you lying to me...?”

FFFFfffffffff-

“I- I’m not,” I looked up at him and hiccuped.

Not good.

“Yes,” he arched an eyebrow, his tears slowly ceasing, “you are. I know you. I know when you lie... Furthermore, I was a detective before I became Captain. Please, tell me the truth?”

Melody... Don’t you fucking dare.

“I- I can’t. I’m sorry, Namjeon-ah. I just can’t. Not yet... Can you park the car, so we aren’t blocking the entrance of the building?” I tried to change the subject. For some reason, though, he wordlessly drove to one of the darkest spots in the parking lot before turning off the engine.

Idiot! Don’t tell him “not yet”! You’re going to give him false hope!

Something in Namjeon’s attitude abruptly changed, and that’s when I realized my facial expressions could have just given me away. He leaned in closer to me, wrapping a hand around the back of my neck by my head. I put my hands flat on his chest to try to push him away, but he only pulled me closer until our faces were only centimeters apart. I could feel my heart racing.

“Humor me one more time today, Mel-ah. Tell me who it is that you’re in love with? Is it actually me? Why can’t you tell me...? Please, Mel...,” Namjeon spoke softly, his breath barely grazing my lips.

“I’m sorry, I-...,” I tried but failed to find the right words.

“Then let me find out for myself. Kiss me?”

I blinked, internally panicking. I knew if I kissed Namjeon, there was a high probability that I would jump on top of him. Every cell in my body was screaming to turn my head away, but as he moved in closer, I felt my eyes close, and my body relax. My head never turned, and soon after, my panties were destroyed.

~***~

Sex with my ex-husband twice in one day. How very idiotic of me. I may be on birth control, but there is still a chance I could get pregnant, considering how we didn’t use any form of protection... It seems almost wrong that I have zero problems fucking this sex god, but OH! Oh, how I love the way he takes care of my body, gentle but still beastly. I should probably get off of him now, but my legs feel like jelly.

“Now, I don’t want to leave after everything that just happened,” he hummed in content, still trailing soft kisses over my shoulders and collarbone.

“You need to go home to Yoonji, though. She’ll be getting out of school soon, won’t she?” I inquired, accidentally letting a small mewl escape when he licked over my weak spot.

“Actually, our parents are homeschooling her. She refused to go to school anymore when she was around six. She said she didn’t want to go to school if her eomma wouldn’t be there to pick her up. I couldn’t convince her so, I went to your parents first, and then they came up with a plan with mine. So, Yoonji has been homeschooled for the past three years. I can just call and have her stay with her grandparents tonight. I really don’t want to leave. Besides, maybe after all that has transpired, it wouldn’t be a bad idea to have a police officer over for a night just to keep the peace.”

Wait, wait, wait... Hold on a minute. How can you talk about homeschooling and staying the night in the same breath?

“That is a lot to take in. Yoonji is homeschooled because I’m not around, and my ex-hubby wants to stay the night with me even though I live with seven other men. Although only five are here tonight because the other two are still in the hospital. What has the world come to?” I shook my head with a light chuckle.

“What do you say, Mel-ah?” Namjeon looked at me with puppy eyes.

“What do I think? I think it’s way too tempting of an offer, and that I also think it’s just an excuse to have sex again. It could also be viewed as highly inappropriate.”

“You think anyone will have a problem with me staying the night?”

Now he’s worried about what others will think?

“I have no idea, Namjeon-ah,” I shrugged. “It was your idea in the first place, remember? Besides, didn’t you say you would stay on, official police business, and I quote “to keep the peace”? On the other hand, people could make a huge deal out of it. I think you should go home...”

“If you don’t think I should stay, then what about you coming home with me?” Namjeon grinned up at me, smoothing his hands down my curves before he grabbed his phone out of the cupholder. “I’ll just text Appa to take care of Yoonji tonight. It might be awkward to call because,” he said as he was typing, “I want to go another round with you.~”

“Hey, wait!” I snatched his phone, extending my arm behind me, so it was out of his reach. “I can’t go home with you; I promised I would come this weekend. You have to go home, and I have to eventually go back up to the dorms and shower because we are sticky and sweaty all over.” I set the phone down on the dash before bringing my arm back in to lightly rest my palm against his chest.

“Well,” he began with a mischievous sparkle in his eye, “if we cannot spend the night together, I should make sure that you never forget the feeling of my cock inside you.”

His hips jolted before he even finished his sentence, causing my body to flinch and me to yelp. We had already gone three rounds, and I was experiencing super oversensitivity. My hands gripped his shoulders for dear life. My muscles tightened as he jolted his hips up again. I squeaked. I actually squeaked!

“Oh, fucking hell...! I wasn’t ready for that-...,” I chirped.

He chuckled before grabbing my buttocks with a firm grip, roughly massaging them, lifting me up just a little at the same time to slide back down onto him. I let my forehead fall onto his sweaty right shoulder, pants and whimpers escaping with each passing second, and then he brushed his lips against my ear.

“How hot do you think it would be if I fucked you on the hood, or maybe even against the stone wall in front of us? Just letting the adrenaline surge through you at the thought of accidentally getting caught~,” he whispered, taking a pause every few words. “If I remember correctly, you got pregnant with Yoonji the first time we ever made love on the hood of a vehicle,” he continued, pulling back, and moving my head so he could see my face properly. “You are just as beautiful as you were that night, many years ago,” he breathed before crashing his lips against mine. Before I knew it, I heard him opening the driver’s door, and I felt the cool breeze against my skin. He stepped out onto the parking lot pavement very carefully, with his hands under my thighs and my arms wrapped around his shoulders. He didn’t bother to close the door as he carried me to the front of the minivan. He walked right past the hood and pressed my lower back up against the cold and smooth stone wall that acted as a separation between the public and private parking lot. I shivered, loosening my hold on him just enough to look into his eyes but not far enough for my head to collide with the stones.

“How about we start here?” He rhetorically asked me, with a slow thrust up into my core. He readjusted his footing to not fall by accident and placed soft, plump kisses along my chest. “So, beautiful...~.”

“Namjeon-ah,” I closed my eyes in satisfaction as I let out a breathy moan. My body wanted this, but my head kept telling me it was a bad idea. “Security patrols this area; what if someone does see?”

“Heh,” he chuckled, “Let them watch.~”

“You crazy fool, we would get in so much trouble-...” I started to complain before he cut me off with a brief kiss.

“You worry too much,” he commented softly before nibbling on my lower earlobe. Then he carefully let down my right leg so that my foot was tip-toed on the pavement. He held my left thigh as far up and as close to him as he could without making it uncomfortable for me. He groaned softly as he dragged his pelvis against mine, and I couldn’t help but quietly moan. “You don’t need to be quiet, Mel-ah,” he said against the skin of my neck, “I want to hear you moaning my name as I watch you come undone in my arms.”

“Oh, fuck!” I squealed as he delivered a sharp thrust at just the right angle to hit my g-spot. It was at that moment; I knew I was done for.

~***~

“That was amazing...,” I panted, feeling absolutely spent, letting my arms fall against my sides on the hood of the minivan.

“I can attest to that.~” Namjeon grinned like he was the happiest man in the world at that moment. He brushed away a few sweaty strands of my hair off of my forehead, his abdomen still pressed against mine. “I wonder if you can still walk straight?” He teased before standing straight and slowly pulling himself out of me. My thighs immediately relaxed as I went to sit up, but as soon as I slid off the hood, I felt something warm dribble out of my slit and down my leg.

“Oh, shit...,” I looked down at my lower half, observing the obnoxious amount of cum dripping out of me. I looked back up at Namjeon, “Look what you did, Namjeon-ah. This is such a mess!”

“If I made the mess, I’ll clean it up,” he told me as he got down on one knee. He grabbed my outer thighs and pressed me back just enough to lean against the hood. I steadied myself with my hands on the edge of the hood. Then he pulled my legs apart a few more inches. When I realized what he was going to do, I went to grab his head to pull him away, but he simply grabbed that hand and intertwined our fingers. “I know you find this embarrassing, but you also know that I enjoy going down on you, before or after sex,” he said with a smile before his face disappeared from my view, and I felt his warm tongue against my inner thigh.

I had to try so hard not to close my legs when his mouth reached my slit. I had to try even harder not to moan when I felt him lick across my clit. His hand tightened around mine as I felt his tongue venture closer to the dripping target. I inhaled sharply when he began sucking without warning, his tongue swirling around inside me, catching every drop of cum that he could get to. When I thought it couldn’t get any more embarrassing, he let go of my hand and slid his middle finger past my slit. He pumped it gently in and out before adding his index finger. I could feel him curling his fingers and then making a scissoring motion. His mouth worked in sync with his hand, trying his best to clean me up, inside and out. I slapped my hand over my mouth to hold back a moan. Namjeon was relentless in his mission, and he didn’t stop when my legs began shaking. My body felt hot, tingling all over. I was breathing hard through my nose, my hand still covering my mouth. His tongue circled around my clit before his eyes met mine. He pulled his head away from my slit and began to stand, his hand never stopping its rhythm. He gave me a knowing smile, leaning his body against mine as he pulled my hand down from my mouth.

“Fuuuuuck, fuck fuck fuck! N-Namjeon-ah, please-... Oh, God, that feels-...!” I moaned out, unable to keep myself quiet without my hand.

“I know.~” Namjeon hummed, cutting me off with a passionate kiss. His fingers twisted inside me as the small but quick thrusts of his hand became stronger. I gripped his bicep, my tongue dancing with his in unison as I moaned into his mouth. My head started to feel fuzzy, and my body felt like it was on fire. My toes wanted to curl in on themselves, and my knees nearly gave out, but Namjeon held me up as he pushed me past my breaking point. My climax hit me hard enough to see stars as my back naturally arched. I was screaming, inhaling deeply through my nose, but Namjeon was muffling my screams with our kiss. He didn’t slow down his finger-thrusting until he felt my body slowly relaxing against his. When my body felt almost limp from the intensity, he finally pulled his hand and lips away. My legs were still quivering, unable to hold them still. He pecked my lips and went about hoisting my ass up onto the hood. I was still breathing heavily as he placed his palm against my chest, “Lay back, Melody-ah. I’m almost done.”

I allowed him to push me back until my back rested against the hood. Then I felt his tongue against my slit again, moving with purpose and determination. This time, he avoided my clit and came back up when he was satisfied. His mouth, chin, and the tip of his nose wore a glossy sheen. I wanted to laugh at him, but my energy was all but drained away from me.

“You look ridiculous,” I teased, trying to steady my breathing.

“I look sexy, you mean,” he threw back with a grin as he helped me sit up. He gathered me up in his arms as he carried me over to the passenger side rear door. I grabbed the handle and slid it open with what strength I could muster since his hands were full. “Thank you,” he offered his gratitude as he sat me down inside the minivan. I scooted back so that he could get in too, but he closed the door instead. At first, I was confused until I watched him walk around and close the driver’s door that he had left open and then open the back door again. He climbed in next to me and closed the door. “I guess I should help you get dressed. Do you need me to carry you inside, or do you think you can manage?”

“I’ll figure it out, but now I have to ask you something. Why did you think it was a good idea to rip off my panties this time? It’s not like I keep a spare pair in my purse.” I frowned, thinking about how awkward it would be to walk around pantieless.

“I’ll buy you new ones this weekend to make up for it, okay?” he tried to bargain.

“Is that your way of asking me if I want to date you again? Exes don’t buy their exes lace panties; that’s something couples do.” I raised my left eyebrow.

“Would you say no if I was?”

“I’d tell you that it’s a horrible idea for obvious reasons, but I would love to.”

“I’ll take that as a possible yes then,” he winked before reaching around for my bra.

After he stopped acting like a goofball with my bra, he helped me put it on and then got his boxers on. Piece after piece of clothing, he rotated between dressing himself and me even though I told him I was a big girl and could dress myself. He only waved me off and did things the way he wanted to. After we were dressed, I did my best to make my hair look presentable. When we were finished getting dressed, we got out of the back and moved upfront. He pecked my cheek and started up the engine. Then we made our way back to the entrance of the building. He shifted the gear into park and unlocked the doors. I bit my lip before impulsively asking him for a favor.

“Actually, Namjeon-ah,” I started, feeling awkward to even ask, “Could you escort me inside and walk me to the elevators?”

“You’re worried about toppling over, aren’t you?” He chuckled when I nodded my head, admitting it. “How about I escort you to the door of the dorms instead? Then, I won’t have to worry if you fell in the hallway on your way there.”

“Under normal circumstances, I’d decline, but you’re right. I accept the additional offer,” I nodded, grabbing my purse, and tossing the strap over my head and across my shoulder.

He put the four-ways on and got out of the car, making his way over to my side. He opened my door, lending me his hand as I got out. He shut the door and offered me his arm, which I gratefully took. Then, like a proper gentleman, he escorted me through the doors and through the lobby. Many eyes were on us, but they looked away when he flashed them his badge. With his help, it did not take long to reach the elevator. We stepped in, and I pressed the button for the top floor. It was a silent ride but a pleasant silence. When the door dinged and opened, Namjeon led me out and looked down both ways of the hall. I giggled at his expression of a lost child before I pointed left. He gradually led me down the hall until I pointed toward the right door. We stopped in front of it, and he turned to me, picking up my right hand.

“I’ll see you this weekend, Melody-ah,” he quietly spoke before kissing the back of my hand. He let it go and waited until I got inside before he waved goodbye and left. I closed the door and leaned back against it, letting out a massive sigh of relief.

I hung up my purse and took off my heels, happy to be rid of them. Just as I went to put my slippers on, I heard someone yell. My eyes went wide as I listened to the racing feet that sounded more like a stampede. Minhyun and Taemin sprinted past the door laughing with a flustered-looking Jin-hyuk in hot pursuit. I blinked, whispering to myself.

“What did I just come back to?”
