Angel sighed heavily as she leaned into the black AMC Rambler that the Catholic Church owned. She sat Harvey down in the backseat. She noticed how he clung to her, almost accidentally, and then she waited for his arms to slip away from her neck.

“Enjoy yourself, kiddo,” she said as she buckled him into his seat.

They were leaving him with Father Fernandez, but only for a few hours.

She hadn’t been around him long enough to feel bad for it but she found herself feeling an odd sense of dread as she shut the door. His green eyes, beautiful and large, stared back at her from a sad face.

Behind her, Jenarius waved Harvey goodbye.

He didn’t want Harvey to panic so he had asked Angel to put him in the car. Angel knew he was trying to make it easier for himself than he was Harvey but she respected his request.

“Make sure you don’t get caught,” Javier was saying to Jenarius.

Angel turned away from Harvey and faced the priest.
