Shock Absorption
There are many ways to absorb shock, but the one that stands out the most (to me) is the tongue of a woodpecker. For any of you who might not know, a woodpecker's tongue literally wraps around their skulls and even goes slightly into their beaks. They thus have extremely long tongues and they're less susceptible to brain damage caused by pecking due to the shock absorption properties of a soft tongue.
