Q-tips/ Cotton Swabs
The most common use of Q-tips is the one thing that you shouldn't use Q-tips for. That being ear cleaning.
There are two main risks involved. One being a punctured ear drum and the other being compacted ear wax.
The first issue is easily avoidable if you have a decent amount of finger dexterity.
The second one is usually relatively easy to deal with as there are numerous earwax dissolving products you can purchase online.
Do what you want, just be careful.
