If you have the desire to hold any pen shaped object some time in the future, learning a few pen spin tricks is a must. It's just a nice cool way to fidget.
Over the past year, whenever I've been using my pen, I'd always been pen spinning it on the side. The pen I use also happens to be a metal pen, which weighs much more than a plastic pen.
The added weight adds a huge amount of resistance when trying to gain momentum that only becomes apparent when switching back to a plastic pen. I actually only realized how large the difference is recently.
Due to having grown proficient with a metal pen, I'm now able to pen spin a normal plastic pen at ludicrous speeds. Albright, still restricted to the few specific tricks I've practiced.
In conclusion, start practicing pen spinning with a metal pen if you don't already.
