Jump roping backwards is actually very easy. In fact, it's just as easy as jump roping normally. All you really need is a few minutes to adapt.
When you start getting somewhat decent at jump roping, you won't be able to visually track the movements of the jump rope anymore. Thus backwards jump roping doesn't have any kind of disadvantage. It does however appear much more impressive.
On a side note, if you have shoes with soft tips, it might be a good idea to tape a few pieces cardboard on the tips to soften any potential impacts. This is only really for when you're attempting to increase the difficulty/speed.
If you want to learn to jump rope backwards, long sleeves and long pants can help you out. Of course, if you don't mind accidentally whipping yourself, ignore this step.
